Welcome to my blog!

Currently playing the Random Decades Legacy Challenge. - (Current Decade: 1950s)

Started December 1, 2021

I’ll be playing by the rules of the Random Decades Challenge as per @twentiethcenturysims.

This game will be a little different than my previous decades challenge as the decades will each be one generation rather than a set length of time in-game (e.g. 20 in-game days), so the historical accuracy won’t be there in terms of timing.

CWs (current or future themes): Pregnancy, Race/Ethnicity, Period-Typical Sexism, Gendered Language, War, Death, Suggestive (but not explicit) Content, Infidelity/Cheating, Religion, Menstruation, Infertility, Alcohol, Smoking, Period-Typical (mild) Homophobia

You can find my CC (recolors) here.

I'm also playing a Medieval Gameplay save!

In the evenings, Joan's younger sister, Cecily, stopped by to talk while Joan worked on her embroidery. A sociable girl of fourteen, Cecily was Joan's only surviving sibling. While Roger told adventurous tales of knights and dragons, he and Joan enjoyed a meal with Cecily before retiring for the night. The shyness they had felt at first began to fade as they grew closer as husband and wife.

Denton Medieval Gameplay Save

The small peasant community of Henford-on-Bagley celebrated with the news that young Roger Denton, shortly after his eighteenth birthday, had wed seventeen-year-old Joan Chauncey, in the spring of 1385. With Joan's dowry, the newly married couple were able to acquire a modest farm.

Salvador was settling into fatherhood and enjoying his job as Diego Lobo's gardener. He heard a surprising piece of news from Anton— "Mr. Lobo, he's one of us, and he hosts parties for men like us. I want you to come with me."

He knew what he meant, and felt somewhat hesitant— he liked women, though what he and Anton felt had been real and he'd come to terms with his desire for both sexes. "Anton, I have a wife. I can't just go around with those men. And Lobo is my employer— It'd be awkward."

"It does not have to be a date, Sal. Just as a friend, to make some new friends."

Sal reluctantly agreed, and found that he felt a sense of community, that he and Anton were not alone. He had rarely seen the interior of Diego's mansion, rarely seen the personal life of his employer. He started to see him as someone who could be a friend and mentor to him.

But it was at one of these events in June 1950, in the early morning hours, that the radio's music was interrupted with news from Washington— that the United States had entered the war in Korea.

Gloria's Diary

Eighteen at last! I got the most gorgeous teal dress for my birthday with a full skirt, and I must say I look stunning! Goodbye to high school— but Salim will be attending a local university to earn a business degree. (More of his parents' idea than his own, as his real passion lies with writing.)

I've thought about whether I'd want to go to college too, but Mom says that's not necessary as a man will provide for me someday. And if Salim asked me to marry him, I would accept without a doubt. I'm confident he and I could build a beautiful life together.

When Salvador is working, Mary sometimes comes to visit Mom and me with baby Estela and she is ADORABLE! I can see it now, the kind of life I'd want with Salim, with children of our own, after he graduates of course.

As Mary's due date neared, Salvador did what he could to support and care for his wife. He found himself reconnecting with Anton and reminiscing on their high school years. Though his attraction to Anton remained, above all, Sal valued his friendship.

One day, after Salvador arrived home from work, he found Mary in labor, and after a long grueling process, the young couple welcomed their first child, a girl named Estela Linda Morales.

Gloria's Diary

Salim asked me to our school's Senior Dance and I accepted, of course! I can't believe it's finally my turn to attend with my boyfriend after I was the one who told Sal to ask Mary to his dance in the first place. I wore a beautiful yellow patterned dress and Salim looked dashing in his suit. The gym was transformed with balloons and streamers. I spent a lot of time with both my friends and my boyfriend. Dancing with him felt like a dream!

We stole away out back to the courtyard and he told me, "I don't know how I got so lucky to have you, Gloria. You're beautiful, smart, confident, friendly— and I don't know what I'm going to do after school."

"We're only seventeen, Salim," I told him. "We have time. The night is still young. Will you help me make it last?"

And he did.

Dear Gloria,

Mary's well into her second trimester now and we're both growing more excited, though still nervous, about becoming parents. We felt the first kick just this past week! I'm doing all I can to learn how to be a good father from Mary's Papá. I wonder if this is how our Mom and Dad felt before I was born!

We even started to decorate the nursery and got the essentials. Mary selected a calming blue for the walls. We have begun to discuss possible name ideas. I know you will love your little niece or nephew and be a wonderful aunt.

Love, Sal
