hello my bigcartel is closed right now but i just got back from dropping off first months rent + security deposit & i have an HRT follow up (bloodwork, etc) tomorrow morning so if anyone would like to help me out while my entire life transitions, i have merch (shirts, hats, totes, mugs) on my bonfire, prints on my inprnt, my book of poetry in paperback, & a tip jar on my ko-fi (tattoo tickets + FREE poetry PDFs). thank you!!! 🎉🌞
i think a lot of white queer/trans people need to hear that "breaking gender norms" isnt just wearing a dress while masc or dying your hair. its also unlearning the beauty standards that impose ideals of white beauty and attractiveness on non-white folks. yes you have a nose ring but i just heard you tell your black friend with meticulously cared for natural hair "you'd just look so nice with straight hair is all im saying..." why does your blog fetishizing i mean uh. appreciating trans women only feature skinny white women who pass. when societal gender norms are so inextricably tied to whiteness and emulating whiteness it is not enough to simply change your aesthetic. you need to defy the gender norms in your own head too.
fun fact! the original draft of this was about native features, but i changed my examples bc historically my native-centered posts get basically no notes compared to my other social-justice/activism posts :) which definitely doesn't frustrate me at all as a queer native american. anyways reminder that gender roles are informed by culture and what you (white person reading this) consider "gender non-conforming" might in fact be a gender-conforming feature in their culture!
Why do people need subtitles to watch a show in English? I don't get it. What is wrong with the ears of young people?
ooh this angers me so much. so let's make a poll of it.
edit for clarification: the Deaf/HoH option includes any hearing impairment and d/Deaf people ^^

thinking about the guy at karaoke last week who requested creep by radiohead and instead sang, from memory, hey there delilah by the plain white t’s. with the radiohead creep instrumentals
We need to bring back children’s programming that focuses on reading. I’m so serious
WE NEED THEM BACK ‼️‼️‼️
fun fact there's a political reason for less learning shows--the push for advertising in children's entertainment and deregulation surrounding it
feels weird to say it given the subject matter but i really liked the scene between claudia and louis where she’s describing bruce’s features and the marks on his body in order to transplant them onto their fictional shared maker and louis kind of recoils at the mention of the latter specifically, saying he doesn’t need that, and claudia retaliates by saying i don’t know what it is you need. i remember what i remember. like the way louis can’t seem to stomach those specific details even when she’s willingly talking (albeit indirectly) about what was done to her. and louis self centering in that conversation out of what comes off simultaneously like knee jerk propriety and parental guilt and an ostensible concern for claudia’s “privacy” along with all his shit with lestat and the fact that claudia is implicitly equating her rapist and lestat even if its just in a story they are telling. idk its a brief moment but it felt very believable as an enraging conversation between a parent (fixated on their past failures) and a (grown) child still in front of them trying to talk to them about something. even the way we see louis reacting to claudia sharing far more later on, like i know he feels awful for her you can see it in his face but he also feels awful as himself, as her parent, her father her mother her brother what have you. and it was another good choice imo to have claudia deliberately not look at him while speaking in that second scene (maybe i don’t want his feelings to depend on me anymore). still even then she’s let down by louis because his guilt over everything she’s been put through is imo what prevents him from treating her like an adult and telling her that armand knows. bc she should know. its imperative actually for her to know before she commits to the coven and yet. anyway claudia should have a gun
My ideal aesthetic is what I'm calling "sexy tomboy". That is to say, I am 100% femme through and through, but I want to look like what a straight man's idea of a "masculine woman" is. I wanna be masc in the way that LaCroix is fruit flavored, just a little extra something to make things a little more interesting
This you?
I don't think I'll ever recover from this one
It's not always necessary to use a thermonuclear bomb on an individual person, but it can be very funny under the right circumstances.

MONSIEUR! my lord lioncourt you cannot have me on the floor before all of these people! ooh monsieur marquis! ooh my lord restrain yourself sil vous plait!!! oh monsieur lestat OUI Lestat YES oh LESTA—
Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist daniel molloy:
My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.
What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"
"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.
My cat absolutely does this. What’s more, she has learned that she can demand that one human fix the behavior of another human.
I was in the bathroom one day. The door was closed, which is of course a Crime Against Felinity. The cat had been complaining about this for several minutes. I told her I would be out in a few.
I then heard the “follow me” meow from down the hall, and my husband saying “what?”
The next thing I heard was my husband’s voice at the bathroom door. “The cat just led me right here, and now she’s looking at me like, ‘Here. You talk to her. She seems to listen to you.’”
Yes. My cat has learned to speak to the manager.
