The post-prison arc has some crazy moments, but honestly the craziest part for me is that c!Dream is still like. Functioning. How well he's functioning is debatable, but just think about it—just think about how insane his living conditions had been for an insane amount of time. Think about every single thing he must have survived. How the fuck do you bounce back from that? How are you still able to walk, to hold a conversation, let alone pick up a weapon again? How do you find the strength to shove it all far enough aside to keep going?

are there any sams that would respond to c!wilbur's needling by redirecting all their frustration to their dream? and would c!wilbur notice that and change tactics to try and make that not happen bc of the whole 'obvious cruelty' thing?
like i think that'd really fuck with him to witness. like it's not quite a 'charlie sets off valentino' moment but it's not far off.
are there any sams that wouldn't, is probably the better question. it's nothing so overt, but sam reacts badly to feeling like he's lost control and usually affirms to himself that he hasn't by increasing his control--it's smth that plays into the dynamics and power struggles between the sams, even, and would be even worse with an outside party. mostly, though, i think sam would just be Antsy with wilbur being around the property at all. i dont know how much he'd see--sam would probably rig up shit to alert him long before wilbur arrives at the house

honestly, i think if c!wilbur got like, involved, he definitely wouldn't really stand for it for more than just possessiveness reasons. like it's just ,,, a lot of abject obvious cruelty yk? and people like sam would bother him. i can see him trying to interfere.
unfortunately sam at his worst is a sam that thinks he's in danger of losing dream and c!wilbur's strategic skill works better in, certain contexts that aren't quite the birdhouse. so it would probably all blow up in their faces, specifically that of the dreams lol

the control issues, the possession, the ways that they are about dream specifically ... they fascinate me. c!wilbur would look at c!sam and see a bear to poke with a stick and sam reacts to being poked with extreme violence in both threats and actions. wilbur was one of the ones dream had hoped would get him out of the prison. after inconsolable differences, he ran into sam. theyre just both such profoundly unnormal people and unnormal about dream specifically too i want to put them in a box and see how long it'd take before things inevitably blow up because i just dont think c!wilbur and c!sam can inhabit the same environment without something going wrong
