In regards to the new episode: if I see someone starting the whole “Camila is a bad mom”-debate all over again, hands will be thrown.

“Luz” has been back for what? A few days at most? Maybe less? Camila has a very demanding job, she’s not home a ton, we don’t know how much time she’s gotten to spend with her.

And camp was also meant to ground Luz in reality more to help her fit in, so of course she’d change a bit.

Nobody in their right mind would realize their kid acting a bit differently and immediately go “huh so this is not my kid this is definitely an evil doppelgänger”??? That’s not a thought any normal human would have in this situation? She has no reason to believe this could be anyone other than her daughter, even if she has changed.

Camila has no clue magic is involved. Luz is probably acting a bit differently, and Camila will definitely notice it over time, but it’s hardly her fault that she’s not immediately going “this is definitely an imposter and not actually my kid.”

Also Luz’s and Camila’s whole issue is that they don’t communicate, they don’t see eye to eye. They don’t really understand each other. Luz feels like a burden for constantly getting in trouble and thus shuts down and doesn’t talk to her mom about her issues. There’s only so much Camila can know about her if Luz isn’t opening up to her. She might notice something is off and might be paying closer attention to Luz for that reason at this point in time, too! She might be worried about her because she’s acting differently, if she is! We’ve seen like, what, five seconds of them? We don’t know what Camila has or hasn’t noticed currently.

We also don’t know how good the imposter is. They’ve probably just not slipped up about anything major yet. They definitely will, at some point, and I’m sure Camila will notice it. But there could be a number of reasons for why she hasn’t noticed anything yet. Please don’t jump the gun and declare her a terrible person all over again when we’ve seen how much she cares about Luz, and how much Luz loves her, multiple times in the show.

Look at this image. Look at this image and at how Camila is smiling and tell me again how Camila is a terrible mom I dare you.

She’s flawed, and that’s something I love about her, because flawed but loving parenting is so rarely shown to this extent in shows targeted at kids. Especially after the newest episode, and considering how Gwendolyn was handled, I have zero doubts that Camila’s mistakes will be addressed. But she’s not a terrible person just because she’s not flawless.

……I don't think we even WANT to know what they saw.
