Toni looked up from what she was working on when her obnoxiously loud music was abruptly shut off. “Miss, Sergeant Barnes is requesting entry.” Taking a deep, steadying breath she tried to focus on the title. Sergeant Barnes was the person she had grown up idolizing, he was a person she could try to face. Snowy road, single car. Motorcycle careens into view. “Sergeant Barnes?”
Shaking off the images she looked over at the glass doors to the lab. He was standing there, looking perfectly ordinary. It wasn’t his fault. Hydra did it. The sound of choking filled her head. “Come in.” She rasped out, closing her eyes against the wave of nausea as she heard her mother die in the quiet of her whirling mind. She didn’t know what to say to him. How to feel about him. It was all mixed up in the screaming agony of her grief.
All my love to Bucky today, but this is a rough day for Tones too. She knows it wasn't his fault, and she tries not to blame him anymore, but today is hard.

tony stark: is a villain for bringing peter to “web them up” and making peter leave the battle the moment he gets hurt
wanda maximoff: never has to own up to working for hydra, manipulating every member of the avengers, or triggering the hulk into destroying a civilian city under her control, joining alongside ultron until she does one good thing, essentially being the cause of all the death and destruction in aou, and eventually not being able to control her powers in lagos that she previously had total control over, which resulted in deaths upon deaths, and also gets to watch the hulk take all the burn and blame for the city she made him destroy
tony stark: literally is held accountable for every single action made by himself along with maximoff and every other avenger, tries his hardest to work alongside ross and 117 countries that all demand superhero registration through the accords as voted for in the UN, despite knowing how much a lot of his team would reject such idea
wanda maximoff: is just a 26 year old kid!
tony stark: is a villain for trying to find a middle ground between selfish team members who refused to be held accountable for being dangerous people and the 117 countries around the world that want them to be held accountable since they’re all powerful & dangerous people (a lot of which have bad histories, see: wanda) who shouldnt be allowed to just freely use their powers when they clearly pose to be a potential threat to the public

“I know you’re used to running everything yourself, but that’s just not how things are going to work now.” Maria said firmly. “You need someone to look after you — and that’s me. The meeting had to do with Stark Industries, not SHIELD, so I’d appreciate it if you let me do my job without having to tie you to a chair.” Maria raised an eyebrow and stared Toni down, not giving an inch. She shrugged, not reacting. “I’m sure Miss Potts has her reasons for thinking we’re a good fit. The fact that I’m not going to run away crying probably has something to do with it.”
Maria reached out and dropped a stack of papers three inches thick on Toni’s desk, mindful of the fact she didn’t like to be handed things. “Patents, time off requests for your engineers, which is why you have to do them and not Miss Potts, a card for Miss Potts’ birthday, revised drawings for things that they’re building in Engineering, a request from Fury to finally hand in that report about how you created a new element — shall I continue?”
“I didn’t run everything myself.” She objected strongly. “I had Pepper.” She hated to admit that Maria was probably right, her engineers could probably do with a little more time to refine things before she took over and tweaked it to her pleasure. “I didn’t hire you for this job.” She felt obligated to comment, still a little bit bitter. Sighing loudly, she glared up at the woman as she dropped a thick stack of papers onto the surface she had just cleared.
“Okay, fine, yes all those things sound important. But I have big things to do. I have to look over the new prototype Stark Smartwatch. I’ve been working on a personal version of that one, but also a commercial version. The engineers did great, but it’s not perfect.” She was rambling as she started blindly scribbling her name on the papers. Of course, it wasn’t really blindly, she was glancing at the titles. But unless the form looked strange or was for something completely unusual she just signed it without reading through it. It was as much a sign of her trust in Maria as it was reluctance to lower herself to that level. “Fury can stuff it. He knows what I did, he doesn’t need a report. And get something nice for Pepper for her birthday. From me, of course. She likes Louboutin heels.”

“Because then I would be stuck with a realm I had no interest in ruling, as a vassal lord to one who would destroy you for sport.” Loki’s gaze never left hers, his face unreadable. “I was doing you all a favour, don’t you understand?”
He growled a little at her assertion.
“Only by proximity. If he was my brother truly, he would not have stood by and done nothing whilst Odin tore apart my family. He gave up the right to call me brother when he decided he would rather carouse with his friends than help me when I needed him most.” The hatred in his words was palpable.
“There’s nothing I can do or say to convince you, clearly, but mark my words. If a team of your agents of SHIELD try to take me in the street, I will kill every last one of them. If Thor comes to my door looking for me, so help me I will raze this city to the ground before you take down. I won’t be playing to lose.”
“So you were just working for someone who wants to destroy us? So...” She paused, taking a moment to bring the scattered puzzle pieces together in her mind. “If you hadn’t thrown the match then you would be ruling over us under someone far worse who might at any moment decide to destroy our planet on a whim.” She glanced at his face, checking for any sign that she was getting it.
“By throwing the fight you allowed us to destroy his invading army and thereby buy our entire planet time to prepare before the big bad guy’s interest falls upon us again.” She cocked her head to one side. “Does that sound right?”
If her assumption was correct then they had little time to wast in preparing to combat a larger scale invasion than the chitauri. And to be honest, if Loki was telling the truth then the question really came down to loyalty. Could they trust Loki to fight with them or at the very least remain out of the fighting against this big bad villain? Or would he rejoin his erstwhile master if given the chance. “Where do your loyalties lie regarding this new enemy? You served him once, would you do so again?”

“Which I guess makes sense. I don’t know if I support the idea of a triad, but then again I haven’t figured out what I want from a relationship. But I like your theory. I think it’s better than assumig that the omega should roll over and spread her legs for the alpha.”
“I’ve also talked to omegas who think I’m a knot with legs. All kinds of jerks exist and they’re all equally annoying.” Phil shrugged mildly. “I’m still a bachelor so maybe I’ve courted an ideal rarely held anymore.”

I’ve never met such a douchey omega, and I definitely don’t want to.” She laughs lightly. “I don’t think most of the world understands healthy relationships. They just want to get off. “If it was not consciously done, perhaps then it is your subconscious mind instead.” He was playing her now, brushing the questions into her mind as a musician strums a lyre. “Perhaps I represent that part of you that you have for so long refused to acknowledge…”
The desire for power, for control, for danger. The fear of the darkness within as well as the darkness without. The desire for… something else entirely. He left it completely open for her interpretation. He was interested in figuring her out by what she did next.
“These things are not easily answered. If they were, all men would be sages.”
“But this is all a dream, right? So you aren’t real. You wouldn’t know that this conversation was happening if I talked to you tomorrow.” She had to believe that this was some figment of her imagination, because if she had actually conjured Loki from the depths of her consciousness then she was in far more trouble than she first though.
“That’s just a fancy way of saying you won’t answer my questions.” The thoughts were spinning in her head, desires loki might represent. Besides the obvious of course. He was very attractive, but she had never done it with someone bent on world domination. “Perhaps my desire is simply to sleep peacefully.”
