Wake up, Good Omens fandom! We're doing something special!

Ineffable May 10

May 10 is both what is often cited as the date the book published (in 1990) and it's the day St Dunstan in the East Church (Neil's inspiration for the scene) would've matched up with the episode 3 Blitz scene (1941).

Bring on your fan works set between '41 and '90!

New or already shared fan works alike, they cover nearly 50 years of Crowley and Aziraphale knowing the other would absolutely, without a doubt save them. That's 50 years of "you can't deny this feeling".

40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. There's so much you can do with those eras, for Aziraphale and Crowley, other angels and demons, and even many of the humans! Especially in bookverse.

Or do something AU and toss canon to the wind!

(I personally love that 1967, another Hard Times cold open scene year, is when London decided to turn the remains of the Blitz scene church INTO A GARDEN. Crowley definitely had something to do with that.)

You can use the tag for any Good Omens celebrations you have on May 10 but especially for showing those fan works set between 1941 (the Blitz scene!) and 1990 (when the book came out!)

AND HEY!

ANY HELP getting the word out is super. I am but a small fan with an even smaller reach. I want anyone who wants to participate to have a chance to hear about it! Thanks SO SO MUCH!

And speaking of thanks: THANK YOU @flantasticclaude for your enthusiasm for this sudden fandom event, and stepping in to make the above wonderful, rainbow-filled graphic to get the word out.🌈😇😈

Let's all have an amazing fandom celebration on May 10!

PLEASE COME FOLLOW US ON THE NEW @oursidezines TUMBLR!

When we first set up this account, it was attached to a prior mod’s personal account by accident. Whoops! So with the new year, we figured it was time to start a new one who’s ASKS WE COULD REACH lol (Sorry about that!)

Please note it’s the same name as this one but there’s an S at the end. Zines not Zine.

We have just opened applications for Our Side Pride 2022 there.

We’re excited to be creating this printed visual art-only book and a later digital zine for October that will be open to visual and written fan works.

Good luck on your applications!

This year’s Our Side Zine artbook is a Pride-themed Good Omens trip through the rainbow with each artist assigned a specific color! Additionally, we’ll have a postcard set featuring color palettes of several of the contributing artists’ Pride flags.

LGBTQIA+ Good Omens fan artists can apply below! We require Safe-For-Work positive/joyful proposals and to know the colors you’d enjoy working with in this for-charity artbook. Apps close Feb 19! Good luck!

[Image ID: Graphic of a swatch book with rainbow colors against a textured background. The words Applications are open! is above it. Below are pictures of Aziraphale and Crowley in each corner. The words “It’s called a rainbow” are next to Aziraphale. Crowley says, “How nice.” The Our Side Zines logo is at the bottom center. ]

Calling all GOOD OMENS fans! We are so happy to announce that Our Side Zine: Ace Week 2021 is now available for download! Get your copy today through October 30th!

The final week of October marks ACE WEEK (formerly known as Asexual Awareness Week). Ace Week has been growing ever since it was established in 2010, and seeks to raise awareness of asexuality and highlight the progress of the community. Ace people face invalidating health care systems, legal protections that are ambiguous at best, histories that risk being forgotten, and more. Our Side: Ace Week 2021 is here to showcase all of that joy from members of the community and allies in the GOOD OMENS fandom. (We prioritize working with community members.)

Be aware there are FOUR versions--all clearly labeled:

-- Safe For Work (gen audiences through teen) LOW QUALITY (smaller file)   -- Safe For Work (gen audiences through teen) full resolution

And -- NOT Safe For Work (gen audiences, teen, mature, and explicit) LOW QUALITY (smaller file)   -- NOT Safe For Work (gen audiences, teen, mature, and explicit)  full resolution *Please do not download NSFW unless you are 18+*

This is a FREE digital zine. We also provide a way to give back by offering the chance to make an at-will monetary donation at download. Our charities of choice for this zine are:

- Planned Parenthood, delivering vital sexual and reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people around the globe. - Terrance Higgins Trust, the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity.

The donations (after fees) will be split between the two charities. So far this year, Our Side Zine readers have given over $2000 to charity!

Hello everyone! We’re delighted to announce that applications are now open for

Our Side Zine: Ace Week 2021 Digital!

Creation weeks will be July 26th to September 27th.

What Is Our Side Zine Our Side Zine is a zine series focusing on elevating LGBTQIA+ voices in the GOOD OMENS fandom in order to tell our stories through fandom.

Most of our zines have a specific focus, such as Coming Out, Trans Day of Visibility, Nonbinary People’s Day, among others. Our goal is always to showcase queer joy.

Our Side Ace Week 2021 Edition: Info & Guidelines

RELEASE DATE: Monday 18 October, 2021

What is this OUR SIDE ZINE edition about? The final week of October marks ACE WEEK (formerly known as Asexual Awareness Week). Ace Week has been growing ever since it was established in 2010, and seeks to raise awareness of asexuality and highlight the progress of the community. Ace Week 2021 is here to showcase all of that joy from members of the community and allies in the GOOD OMENS fandom. (We prioritize working with community members.)

Who’s organizing this zine? The team for Our Side Ace Week is: Caspian (CaspianTheGeek), Buckie (MovesLikeBucky), and Badger (IneffableBadger).

Will this zine be printed or digital? Like our PRIDE edition in June, this one is a digital-only zine. We will have the full zine available for download (NSFW and SFW contributions) and a separate SFW-only digital download with the mature and explicit content removed.

Will this be FREE? This edition is indeed FREE. We will encourage people to donate to a charity TBD, but it will not be required to download.

What is the schedule for the zine? Contributors will have from until September 27, 2021 to create and submit finished pieces. There will be several check-ins. Release Day: October 18, 2021.

What are the requirements for contributing? Because we will feature NSFW art and fic, all contributors must be 18 years of age or older by the time applications close. This is the second edition in our line-up where we are specifically opening applications to our Allies. The A in LGBTQIA+ still stands for the ace, aro, and agender members of our community and preference will be given to ace contributors.

Works for the zine must be new. The exclusivity period for this Zine runs until Monday 15 November 2021. After which point, the creators may post the work on their own accounts and pages as they wish. We will make an AO3 Collection as well.

Basic zine guidelines? Visual Art - May be any medium—including appropriately themed cosplay, photography, and 1 or 2-page comics—that tells a visual story fitting the ASEXUALITY theme.

Written Art - SFW or NSFW that tells a story fitting the ASEXUALITY theme. We prefer stories that are focused on queer joy, but understand that more difficult subjects may be mentioned in passing. 500 - 2000 words preferred.

Characters may be in or appear to be in any or no pairing, using any pronouns, and presenting or perceived as any gender. (Ex. "Ineffable Wives" can present masculine; "Ineffable Husbands" can present feminine; etc. Clothing, genitalia, and secondary sex characteristics do not equal gender.)

New content only, please.

No Contributions may feature:

- Physical violence/Graphic depictions of violence (sport-related activity acceptable) - Major character death (temporary discorporation acceptable) - Sexual violence (including both noncon and dubcon) - Abuse (including emotional abuse) - Underage and grooming - Slurs and bigotry - Drug or alcohol abuse (canon-typical drinking/smoking acceptable)  - Eating disorders - Suicide and self-harm - AUs (alternate universe) ** - Crossover with other fandoms

* - While the world has a lot of ugliness, the general desire with any edition of OUR SIDE ZINE is to create a place focused mainly on LGBTQIA+ Joy. Even if a piece has some hard topics, it should ultimately be about or end on a note of hopefulness.

There are places for working through harder topics with stories and art, but OSZ: Ace Week cannot be that place. Your mods thank you for understanding their needs for this edition.

** - With mod approval only on AUs (such as Human AUs).

-----

Once again, hit up this link to apply! Applications close on Monday 12 July 2021 11:59pm EST.

Hey! I'm so excited about the zine! Even though I've never done something like this before, I'm going to buy a (digital) copy for sure. It's such a wonderful idea.

I was just wondering, how exactly will it be supporting OutRight Action International? Will a scertain percentage of the proceeds go towards the cause?

Thanks in advance and lots of love!!!

Money raised by non-sponsorship pre-orders (after cost of materials and shipping) will benefit OutRight Action International.

Hi! Is there any chance this zine will become annual? I would love to apply to another issue! :)

Avatar

Unfortunately, this zine was a real struggle to organize for the mod team. We're still committed to our digital editions for Pride, Nonbinary Day, and Coming Out Day for 2021. In 2022, we'll be limiting to 2 editions and TDoV is not likely to be one of them.

Thank you for your interest! We really appreciate it.
