Vary your language with synonyms to use instead of "said"

While there is nothing wrong with the word "said" in and of itself, variety is the key to exciting writing that keeps readers engaged.

Combining action beats with varied synonyms as well as "said" yields the most interesting and varied results.

Here are some examples you can use in your next project to keep you writing varied:

Instead of "said quietly"

Instead of "said affectionately"

Instead of "said sadly"

Instead of "said angrily"

Instead of "said fearfully"

Instead of "said excitedly"

Fallout 4 is my favorite Fallout solely because if I get bored doing quests I can build little houses and dress up little guys for 4 more hours but if I play Fallout 3 or New Vegas and get bored I have to close that game and open the Sims to do that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
