It's exactly the same as "I'm not homophobic or racist, I have gay and black friends!"

He fucked up and thought the genre of his job would protect him. I'd respect him more if he admitted he took it too far. He literally said "I'm a TERF" and aided with J.K Rowling, a woman who's done immeasurable damage to the trans and other communities over the past few years.

That he had a trans friend who happened to be fine with it does not mean he didn't fuck up, and one trans person does not invalidate the literal thousands of others who are rightfully hurt.

Sit down and learn not to speak when it doesn't concern you. Especially when you're wrong.

a trans woman was suspended from her job at netflix because she tweeted about dave chappelle's transmisogyny and he's a multimillionaire whining about being "cancelled" you cannot make this shit up

Many in the notes have pointed out that the reason for the suspension was that this trans woman tried to attend a meeting she wasn't invited to.

Note the way in which the language used to describe the situation invokes images of violence and aggression.

Frequently it isn't "tried to attend" it's

"barged in"

"tried to force her way in"

"shoved their way in"

"crashed"

It's not just on Tumblr either, anywhere this topic is being discussed this type of language is being used to describe the actions of this trans woman.

But why? Is it true? Well it was an online meeting. How exactly one "barges into" an online meeting is beyond me.

None of the numerous articles written about the topic at hand mention any adverse consequence caused by this trans woman attempting to attend this meeting. Yet both terfs and "allies" alike speak of it like they know for sure that it was some kind of aggressive and disruptive act.

Regarding the tweets, a Netflix spokesperson has even said "Employees are encouraged to openly disagree and we support their right to do so."

How is suspending employees trying to address their concerns with the people who have the power to change things "encouraging open disagreement"?

At many other companies an employee attending a meeting they weren't invited to doesn't come close to a suspendable offense. It certainly seems to me that this suspension is implied retaliation for the tweets.

The terfs were never going to change but allies stop doing transphobes work for them by defending Netflix and baselessly describing trans women's actions as aggressive and violent challenge

Netflix is also gaslighting us if you havent noticed. Not saying its entirely false. But netflix is throwing shade on chapelle. A lot. If yall will look into it chapelle had a trans best friend that committed suicide a bit ago. She spoke once on his gay and trans jokes. She didnt care. She wasnt offended. They didnt bother her. She knew he never meant it. Her entire family(who supported her) even backs him up. Odd.

Chapelle is a comedian. A good one. He knows how to press our buttons.

omg so yesterday i put a salt line on the pathway to our front door because i was fucking around and my brother was pretending to be a demon

and today we ordered pizza and the salt line was still there

and my brother went outside to sign for the pizza

and the pizzaman refused to step over the salt line, like he almost did and then he backed up and handed my bro the pizza and left; which is pretty ridiculous because it’s far from our door

so a heads up to everyone i’m pretty sure domino’s is actually run by demons??? kind of like how in men in black the post office is run by aliens

I have been a delivery driver for a long time

I am telling you that there is a very real chance that I would not have crossed that line

(it is NOT because of the demon. i work in PIZZA for fuck’s sake. he’s FINE with salt. use your critical thinking skills, here. there are some coworkers I would HAPPILY trap in salt if this really worked. there are huge bags of it at work. c’mon.)

but unless you’ve worked in the industry for, like, at least a year, you have no idea, you absolutely have no clue, about how downright and entirely weird people can be. (really, you need to be in it at least five years before you REALLY know, unless you get extraordinarily lucky/unlucky the first year) most food service workers experience people’s weird, but you don’t really get WEIRD until you get to their house.

(except, probably baristas and bartenders, but that’s because of the whole third place… thing.)

I’m not talking, like, karen angry shit, that happens in both, I’m talking WEIRD.

and. like. i get it. I’m at someone’s house, it’s where they’re at their weirdest, for most people. if you deliver food to people, you are going to experience weird.

and most of the weird I experience is fine and occasionally delightful. all well and good.

but there’s this thing people do where they assume something that they do, something they’ve always done, is extremely common and normal and expected from everybody, and when you do something that throws that mindset out of whack, people will absolutely FLIP their goddamn SHIT.

if I saw that line, I would be going through a checklist in my head of

  1. have i delivered here before?
  2. if so, have they made weird complaints in the past? not, like, ‘driver forgot my ranch’ but ‘driver smiled at me and that is illegal’ (I have had complaints like that)
  3. is the house giving me a Weird Vibe?

basically, what are the chances that, if I step over this line, someone is going to yell at me? Because I am on a bit of a schedule, I do not have the time for being yelled at, I want to exchange food for currency and leave.

(unless you have an animal that I may pet. then I want to exchange pizza for currency and pet your animal for a minute or so, tell them they are good and beautiful, and then leave.)

I do not want to prolong this with being chewed out for stepping over what is obviously a line of protection from strangers, or something, is my point.

…okay and there’s a reasonable chance I might not cross a line of salt specifically to fuck with someone, I’m not going to lie. Like, it would at least cross my mind, and I can think of at least three of my co-workers who would love the chance to NOT cross a line of salt on the sidewalk.
