For the first time in my 28 years, I just set a potato on freaking fire in the microwave. I'm okay, but the rest of the hotel is probably pissed at me 😅 Simple mechanics. Wash potato, stab potato multiple times to vent, wrap in paper towel, wet paper towel, cook 10-15 minutes. Yes? Couple minutes to the end of the cook cycle, I look up and see the microwave flickering and what I thought was steam coming out of it. That was not steam. I hit stop and smartly did not open the microwave as APPARENTLY THE POTATO WAS ON FIRE. But, sure enough, enough smoke had escaped that the hotel's fire system activates. Our smoke alarm and the entire hotel's fire alarm goes off at 2 A.M. My half of the floor is mad at me, management gets woken up, and when the fire department comes, they all have to come see in my room what the problem was, axes and all like they're ready for a blazing inferno. Which I have to respect since it's their job. Just.... If I'm gonna keep dealing with fire in my life, can't I just be a fireman?
