All for what?
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Betty asked Jughead as he sat across from his friends; he shrugged. “You guys know most people wouldn’t understand as much as you do.”
“We could help you, serpent or not, Jug, you’re our friend,” Archie said as he reached over to put a hand on his shoulder.
“Tell us, Jughead, who was it?” Veronica pressed on, and Jughead let out a sigh. He didn’t want to get into this more than he needed to.
“It was only someone from serpents; it’s not that big of a deal.”
“Jug,” Archie said as he stared at his friend. He wanted to help him, but he needed to know the truth.
“Her name was Y/N; she found me to let me know that my dad wanted to talk to me. That was all; you guys don’t need to worry. Nothing bad is going to happen to me.” The three friends looked at each other, unconvinced, but carried on anyway, knowing they wouldn’t get much more out of him.
“I’ll come with you when you go to see him.”
“Arc-” Jughead started, but Archie cut him off
“No buts, Jug, I’m coming with.” All Jug could do was nod; he loved his friends, but he knew this was something he should do alone.
Three friends stood by the railroad tracks looking over to the Southside. They would do anything to help their friend, and Jughead wasn’t giving them much. The three of them would handle it on their own. They were going to get to the bottom of this.
“Are we really doing this?’’ Betty asked one last time before they stepped foot in the place of no return; she needed to be sure.
“For Jughead,” Archie said as he stepped over the tracks, finally crossing into the Southside.
“For Jughead,” Veronica repeated as she followed with Betty behind her.
“Look, that's her,” Betty said as she watched a girl leave the White Wyrm. It was the same one they saw talking to Jughead earlier in the week. They knew waiting here would let them find the right person.
You walked out of the Wyrm, getting ready to walk home; hopefully, by the time you returned to your trailer, Sweet Pea would return from his job. After stopping by the bar, you stayed to help Toni with the crowd, but now all you wanted was to sleep. It had been a long night for you, so you decided to take the back way to the trailer park; it was shorter. As you started to make your way down the path, you heard a noise in the trees, but with one look around, you figured it was an animal and kept going. But suddenly, two girls jumped out in front of you, and you realized your mistake.
“What the,” You said as you went back up but only stopped by another figure grabbing your arms. There wasn’t enough time to pull out your knife to defend yourself. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. You started to tussle in the boy’s arms until he held a tighter grip that made you wince in pain. “Who the hell are you?” You said as you eyed up the girls in front of you. They definitely weren’t Serpents, and they weren't Ghoulies either. It left only one option reminding.
“What’s Northsiders doing on this side of town, huh? Daddy is not paying for your rich life, so you must rob the Southside?” You let out as you took in their total appearances, “Watch it,” The brunette girl said as she stepped towards you.
“What are you going to do about it? Hit me!” Veronica took a few swings at you without even realizing what she was doing.
“Vee!” Betty shouted as she reached for her arm, “We're not here for this. We're here for Jug.”
“Oh, there it is,” You said with a smirk, trying to hold back from wincing with pain. “Is someone sacred that their boyfriend is cheating on them with a serpent?”
“Oh honey, as if I could ever be jealous of you.” Veronica eyed you up and down.
“Vee, stop; this has nothing to do with anything.” Betty stepped before Vee and made her way until she stood right before you.
“Jughead loves me, and I know that he would never hurt me, on the other hand. I got no idea who you are besides your name, Miss Y/N.” You looked up at the blonde girl who was trying to come off as threatening, and all you could do was laugh.
“Do you truly think I’m scared of some Northside kids?” Your laughter still fills the quiet night air. The three friends looked at each other; maybe this wouldn’t be as easy as they first thought.
“What the hell do you want with Jughead?” Betty grabbed your chin, forcing you to look up at her. She didn’t want to be here longer than needed; she only wanted this one thing.
“Serpent secret honey, remember he's one of us, not one of you.”
“Archie,” Betty let out, not taking her eyes away from yours. You felt the grip around your arms tighten, and you felt like letting out a cry, but you wouldn't show them a weakness. Suddenly, a ring blasted throughout the night, and your phone was going off. It was probably Sweets wondering where you were, too.
“You might want to get that.”
“Why would we do that?” Veronica asked as she stood beside Betty, looking at the phone that fell to the ground earlier. “What could someone named Sweet Pea possibly do to me?”
“He’ll be your worst nightmare,” you said. With that, you heard voices coming up the path, and you weren’t the only one as you felt the grip loosely on you, and the three friends took off running while you fell to the ground in pain.
“Where the hell have you been?” Sweet Pea yelled at Jughead as he walked into the White Wyrm, where all of the members of the serpents were. Fangs were holding back the taller boy.
“I was at Pop’s; I came as soon as Dad called,” Jughead said, confused; why was Pea so mad?
“Jughead,” FP said as he came down the stairs after hearing his son arrived, “We need to--” But before FP could get any further, Sweet Pea broke loose of Fang's grip and came at Jughead, pushing him up against the wall.
“Serpents or not, I’m going to beat your fucking ass, Jughead,” Sweet Pea voiced as he held his hand up to Jug’s throat. It wasn’t for long as Fangs and Tallboy grabbed him back, not wanting the taller boy to do something he would regret.
“This isn’t the time for fighting!” FP yelled as he glared at the bigger boy.
“What was that?” Jughead was beyond confused now.
“Why don’t you ask your Northside friends?’ Sweet Pea spits out. He wasn’t going to let anyone get away with this.
“My friends? What do they have to do with anything?”
“Jug,” came beside him, touching his son's shoulder trying to find the words to tell him, but instead, Toni and you came out of the bathroom.
“Y/N?” Jughead whispered as he saw your bruised face and your busted lip. All you could do was give a small smile. What else could you do at this point? Sweet Pea tries to escape the hold but cannot break it this time.
“Let me go; I’m not going to hurt him.” He huffed but got annoyed as no one moved.
“I want my girlfriend FP, not him.” With one look, Pea was released, and he was overholding you in his arms. He knew you needed him right now, and that was all that mattered to the boy.
“Did they? No way they couldn’t.” Jughead was shocked; how could his best friends do something like this. “You guys must have got it wrong or something.”
“They did it, Juggie,” You mumbled. Jughead knew then that his friends had gotten into something way over their heads. He wasn’t looking at the tough serpent girl he grew up with.
“They hurt one of us, Jughead. They have to pay for this.”
“Wait now,” Jughead said as he held his hands up. “I can fix this.” Sweet Pea rolled his eyes at the boy in front of him.
“Fix this? Are you kidding me, Jughead? That’s not going to happen. They hurt one of us; they hurt the family. That means they're going to pay.” All the serpents cheered in agreement with Sweet Pea’s speech; they wouldn’t let someone hurt one of their own. The older ones knew that, the younger crowd would be pleased and lead into battle with Sweet Pea as the leader.
“Can you give me a chance to fix this?”
“Can you fix my girlfriend’s face, Jughead?” Pea questioned, already knowing the answer. It left Jughead silent; he wanted to fix this but wasn’t sure he could.
“Can you please come back safe, Pea?” You asked as Sweet Pea gathered everything he needed to go to the Northside with. Sweet Pea exhaled before coming over and wrapping you in his arms. You had begged him for the past hour for him not to go, but you knew there was no way he would back down. It wasn’t just a serpent who got hurt. It was you, his everything. Sweet Pea didn’t know what heartbreak was until you entered the doors of your guy’s trailer, spotting a purple and blue look. Nothing could calm his anger down until he got revenge on his family.
“I’ll come back, baby,” Sweet Pea said with a smile. “I might come back looking like you, but at least we will be in pain together.” For the first time that night, your lips curled up.
“Aren’t you such a hopeless romantic baby?” You giggled.
“Oh, you know me.” Sweets pressed a kiss to the top of your head, not wanting to put you in any more pain than you were already in. “I will always come back for you, Y/N; never forget that. The sounds of motorcycles outside of your guy's trailer brought you guys out of your embrace. The rest of the serpents had come, meaning it was time for Sweets to go. He picked up his leather jacket and put it over his shoulders; it was showtime for the serpents.
“I love you too, Sweets.” You watched as he grabbed the rest of his things and reached the door. “Hey!” Sweet Pea turned his head back at you in concern. “Can you make sure the girls get them good, too?” Sweet Pea laughed as he walked out the door, saying, “Anything for you, babe.”
