Law is a Zoro Simp Theory: Explained

I have a theory that Law is a simp for Zoro. Lets have a look at the evidence I have gathered to support this theory, from canon manga scenes in the Wano arc:

Evidence #1: Law’s Plans

So earlier in the Wano arc, Law tells the Strawhats that sticking to the plan is more important than their lives and he is more practical than their Captain because of that.

Then later on in the same arc during the rooftop battle, Law says to Zoro that it is not worth dying for the plan; the opposite of what he communicated to the other Strawhats earlier.

(Btw a more literal translation of this dialogue is ‘if its to the extent of someone dying, its fine for the plan to fail’. When Law says 'someone’ he means Zoro specifically but hes just being a tsundere)

Evidence #2: Who Law Obeys

Law saves Luffy in the beginning of the rooftop battle, for what at first seemed like the goodness of his own heart. But it turns out his saving Luffy was more of a second thought, because his priority seemed to instead be yelling at Luffy and making it clear to him that he had already planned to send Kinemon and the others down, and was definitely NOT obeying Luffy. After all, he is a Captain of his own crew after all, why would he listen to the orders of another pirate crew’s Captain?

Then a little later on in the battle when Zoro asks for him to help him, Law just… obeys him. Sure, he complains about it for a second, but then he just goes right ahead and does what Zoro asked. He doesn’t even try to make excuses for it.

Evidence #3: Fanboying

Law being shook by Zoro’s badass sword moment. Or maybe he was more shocked by just witnessing multiple Zoros coming out of Zoro’s body, not 100% sure. Nevertheless, that expression says it all, and Law very rarely reacts like that to anything.

While there’s no proof that Law was directly inspired by Zoro’s speech to him previously when he says this to Kid later on, its difficult to miss the pretty obvious similarities. Even though the exact wording is different, Law basically copied and rephrased what Zoro said, probably because he thought it was so cool (though he’d never admit it, of course).

Evidence #4: Who Law Protects

image

After Law rescues Zoro from his attempt to sacrifice himself during the Rooftop battle, he seems to begin to become focused on Zoro’s safety. As Zoro is cutting up Zeus, he’s not in any immediate danger (until Kaido appears), however Law is focusing on him and the state of his body. I don’t think the translation here in the English version quite captures what he says, a more precise translation is “If that last attack broke every bone in his body I wouldn’t be surprised, and yet…!” (and yet he’s STILL fighting).

Then later on when Kaido is about to finish off Zoro, Law yells out to warn him and runs forward in an attempt to save him. He didn’t seem to have anything planned though; this action by Law seemed very emotionally charged rather than logical.

And then compare this with how he tends to react with other people, like when he tells Kid he is useless for being injured. I’m not trying to imply that he doesn’t care for his other allies at all, however Law rarely shows actual genuine concern and empathy for other people besides his own crew. He often views things very logically and focuses on the mission at hand. Thats what made the way he behaved with Zoro stand out.

Evidence #5: Zoro’s Personal Doctor

After Luffy regains consciousness, Law gravitates towards Zoro to help him out. Its interesting to note that Luffy never once asks Law to protect or attend to Zoro at any point, and Law has no obligation to take care of Zoro whatsoever. But he seems to be taking responsibility for his safety in this battle.

After they went down from the rooftop, Law then took it upon himself to see that Zoro was in safe hands. Sanji asks Law what the situation was (where they came from, what happened etc) and Law’s response was a detailed explanation of Zoro’s condition and how to take care of him, because to Law that was the only important thing Sanji needed to know from his point of view.

And as I mentioned in my previous point, Law has rarely shown concern for others on the battlefield, even as a doctor. This is one of the rare times he has. While he didn’t go to the extent of attending to Zoro personally, its still a lot more than what he usually does for the other allies he’s in battle with.

Completely Unbiased Conclusion:

Law is undoubtedly biased towards Zoro and simping for him. Thank you for reading. I take no criticism.

ngl... one of the scenes that stuck in my head the most during wano arc was law just having an inner monologue where he slowly develops understanding and respect for zoro. like, during dressrosa, he didn't really know him that well but despite this, zoro still invited him for a drink together. bUT LIKE WANO... WANO ARC HITS DIFFERENT.

its the way that the battle above (???) was the first time law truly knew the extent to which zoro would sacrifice himself for luffy. at first, he mostly just saw him as a vice captain whose as stupid (and a drunkard) as his captain but its that fight in onigashima that set his records straight. its the way that zoro stepped in to protect the rest of the worst generation despite him not being close to them. its the way that zoro continues to contribute to the fight despite his bones having been broken already. its the way that law stares at zoro in total awe as he wonders how zoro is able to pull such a stunt despite his worsening condition. and i believe that it was then he realized zoros pride, ambition n loyalty which pushes him to constantly support luffy in whatever way he can. its the fact that law saw and showed his care for zoro by suggesting that they retreat. however, zoros pride and loyalty towards luffy is an impenetrable force that he cannot break through. it was zoros sheer determination that made him able to make kaido bleed.

nothing like a good dose of lawzo dynamic to end the day 🙏

Zoro: I know we don't always see eye-to-eye but-

Law: That's because you're short, but keep talking, I'm listening.

Zoro:

Zoro: I'm going to strangle you.

Law: Yes, but can you reach me? That's the question.

Zoro:

Zoro: One normal dinner is all I ask.

Onigiri Shop AU: Zoro runs and onigiri shop and Law's a doctor who stops by his shop every day. Zoro's got a bit of a thing for the doctor and noticed that he's likes bear shaped things (his coinpurse was a giveaway) so ofc he makes the bear onigiri for him one day
