Patrick Bergsma’s unusual kintsugi sculptures combine the art of ceramics with bonsai.

In the artist’s intent, nature’s revenge on man stands out and begins with a work of destruction to the detriment of ancient and precious traditional ceramics.

ID. six images of sculptures of realistic bonsai growing from within cracked porcelain. The first two bonsai grow from cracks in shattered plates, subtly distorting their painted designs. The next two images are of one piece, where a bonsai grows over several vessels joined by moss and root; the shape of the combined vessels is like that of a natural rock formation. The final two images are of bonsai growing through single vessels. One vase is expanded, flowering like the bonsai itself. The other lipped vase is cracked and warped with soil so that it looks like a shell, with the bonsai peering out. end ID.

Is this not the cutest??? Its called ”Me and Brita” and this guy in 1895 was like ”i love this kid so much imma do a painting of us having fun so the world will always know how much i loved her and what a good time we had”

the painting in the background is looking at them like “my word what a cool pair”

More specifically that is Carl Larsson with one of his 8 children.

He came from a extremely poor and abusive background but worked his way into fine society, where he fell in love with fellow artist Karin Bergöö, and his works shifted to painting his home life.
