A little twitter on the side

Okay, because after making an instagram, I’ve been promptly informed by several people that I should also make a Twitter to go with it, there’s one of those now too. :’‘D Someday I will figure out how to social media in the most efficient way. But for now, y’all get to watch me flail around on two new platforms for a while if you want! I’m hoping the new platforms will give me more of a reason to post more sketches and WIPs! And because Turtle-arts was taken on twitter as well, I’m TurtleArtist over there. https://twitter.com/TurtleArtist

I finally made an instagram

So, because so many people have requested it, I’ve finally decided to add instagram to my list of platforms! I know I’m a little slow to upload these days, courtesy of lots of studio work and the like, but I will do my best to upload whenever i can! For those of you interested in following me there, my username is Turtle.illustration https://www.instagram.com/turtle.illustration/ Come watch me fumble around while I try to learn a new social media platform, because I’m terrible at it! XD Hope to see you all around! :)

I had some research time at work this last week so I decided to practice some environment painting. Trying to practice a sorta animation cell look for use in other projects. And I got a lot of good advice from this tutorial! Working on this was a lot of fun and I'm actually pretty pleased with how it came out! Environments aren't really my strong suite but I feel like I learned a lot doing this one.

A little doodle I did the other day (and then forgot to upload, lol) based on some prompt words a friend gave me. I was having a bit of art block, so she gave me some random words and I ended up putting together "Succulent" and "in training" and this pic happened. XD

How long have you been creating? Your work is wonderful 💝

Aww, thank you!  And lol, I guess pretty much my whole life. XD I’ve done art since I was a kid and I went to school for it, and I work as a professional illustrator/IP designer now.

So I thoroughly enjoyed the Spyro Reignited trilogy- in particular the remake of the first game! I really liked their decision to make all the elder dragons into unique characters with custom animation, and even though I'm not a big fan of some of the designs, there were quite a few whose designs I really loved. And they were unique enough that it made me wonder what some of them might have been like as younger dragons, aka when they were small and quadrupedal like Spyro. So I decided to take a handful of my fave designs and sketch them as smaller dragons. Also, Lucas is my favorite Elder dragon of the redesigns. He’s a good boy.

Finally got around to finishing this pic that’s been sitting on my desktop for months. I am so jazzed for the remake. The original Spyro games are some of my absolute favorite games, and I'm very excited to see them getting a full restoration like what SotC got. I think it's really nice that companies are remaking these old games, because in a way it sort of feels like getting to play the game as you remember it looking as a kid. And I think it's a great way to keep older games from losing relevance for a younger generation who might not want to play something with old visuals. And I'm very pleased to see that Spyro is getting that treatment as well!

It’s Fall! Hooray! A little sketch of this bunny character I drew in some down time at work this morning. Which... huh, I guess I’ve actually been drawing this rabbit character design for like, years, but it’s usually in my little pocket sketchbooks and it’s never been posted anywhere. I should really give her a name at some point with how often she’s shown up in my doodles.

A more detailed profile doodle of Darshil’s Sybal form. The general style he’s drawn in isn’t so detailed as it would make things like comic panels take forever, but I figured it might be fun to draw him a bit more fleshed out to show off some of the more reptilian aspects.

A redraw of an old Skull Kid redesign that I did from like, 8 years ago. Way back when I decided to design a few Skull Kids based on other masks in the Zelda games and such, since I always thought it would be neat if they were more individualized instead of always just being the skull mask. I had 3 designs originally and I redrew all three but I only had time to paint the one for now.
