Hi! I have a question about ancestor altars: what do you do with food + other items that can rot? Do you throw it away or eat it? How long do you leave it out? I'm new to the concept of connecting to ancestors but my late Auntie's been contacting me and I want to thank her.

Avatar

Food items I leave on the altar for 24 hours and then I compost or bury it. Incense gets burned in a sacred holder specific to my ancestral altar and the ashes are collected into a jar. All offerings stay at least 24 hours on the altar if not longer.

Hello dear. Is it possible for me to be more than one type of witch? I am feeling drawn to angelic/celestial magic but also to ocean and sea magic. Thank you. ☆

Yes of course, you can be many types of witch, or no type at all. Your craft is personal and can be constructed however you please.

This is kind of a dumb question but can you use ovenmits or gloves with the firebringers curse so you dont burn yourself when the metal bowl gets hot over the flame?

Avatar

Of course! Take whatever safety precautions you deem necessary. I never use them personally but my bowl never gets too hot for me.

hi there! I am an aspiring green witch, I was wondering if there were any texts you would recommend to learn the basics? many blessings! x

any (credible aka written by doctors) books on herbalism are wonderful for learning how to work with plants naturally and safely and can help you create personal correspondences with the herbs. the book i personally use the most often is The Green Pharmacy that is an introduction to at home herbal remedies.

The Fire Tender’s Curse

This curse causes people who cause drama and mayhem in your life to have a horrible burning sensation in their skin every time they try to hurt someone.

You Will Need:

Ashes Rust Salt Rubbing Alcohol A metal bowl A candle/flame

How To Do the Curse:

1. Add the ashes, rust, and salt to the bowl. Mix it all together. 2. Add a few drops of the rubbing alcohol and mix until the whole mixture is wet. 3. Start chanting the name of the person you are cursing, and light the candle. 4. Hold the bowl over the flame and continue chanting. When the mixture is completely dry the curse has been placed.

Curse Breaking:

This is a simple and non-bound curse - can be broken using any curse breaking technique.

i have a question which may sound potentially stupid but — what if a witch is scared of fire? how does one work around this?

Avatar

Either work through your fear, or accept that you cannot do spells that use fire. You can substitute in things like a candle warmer, a hot pad, etc. but they will not have the same energy as fire. Not every spell or practice uses fire though, so I’m sure it won’t be too big of an issue to find a flame free path.

Hi, I’m new to the practice and am about to move 1500 miles with 2 dogs, 2 cats, my 5 month old daughter and parents. We’re driving all together in the same car and I’m terribly worried about my pets running off when we stop, is there any ideas you could recommend for a beginner?

Avatar

I’m not sure when you sent this (I’m on mobile) but if the move already happened I hope it went well! If not here’s my advice:Magick isn’t the solution to every problem. The best way to ensure your pets safety is to put them on leashes or have them in crates. You can buy play pens made specifically for dogs and cats if they need to stretch when you get to a rest stop. Taking the proper mundane precautions is the best way to ensure their safety.

heyy do u know any easy spell or talisman something to attract sucess in general ? Like at the college, love, relashionships, i know its a lot to ask but... something to open up the doors. bless u

A talisman to attract luck and success that my grandma would always give me is a buckeye. You keep it in your pocket and it will protect you from failure.

hi there! i’m just starting out... but what if i don’t necessarily want to be considered a witch, but i enjoy the idea of creating sigils and spells and concoctions to promote health and well being for myself and people that i care about? where would you suggest i start? should i be coming up with my own sigils and spells and such? or using things i find from witchblr? thanks so much!

Avatar

Hey! I personally try and avoid calling myself a witch as well, since my practice comes from the spirituality of my culture. You can call yourself a magick practitioner or an energy worker, but the easiest way to find groups, and resources will be to use keywords like ‘witch’, ‘pagan’, etc. I reccommend by starting with whatever you find most appealing.

I notice you mentioned concoctions for health and well being - you could potentially start with herbalism and green magick. Just be safe and don’t use plants you don’t know.
