:') I am not! midwest in this case is the part of the US that is not west at all but we still call it midwest for some reason (indiana/ohio/michigan area)

i really appreciate this tho! honestly i'm still not sure about my decision here but people taking me seriously feels nice! maybe i can figure this out in a way that doesn't suck.

#but also it will take a lot for me to actually trust someone with this too#so idk. i really do not know. i wish i just actually knew someone irl that could take them but.#i really probably only need a break. i wish i could freeze time until stuff doesn't suck and then be able to do better for these guys too#it feels unfair for me to give up. but. it's probably more unfair of me to keep trying and failing!#and thank you for the luck. i reallyyy need it i think.

ok yeah this is a semi-serious post. Mostly because i'm panicking in advance about only having a solo rat left

#That may be even a year from now. But i definitely Need to take a rat break.#I cant get into a cycle with more of them.#And the idea of not having them gives me more relief than sadness at this point tbh.#Theres sadness that i'm losing myself as a person tho. Idk who the hell i am if not the rat friend

I specifically put this ledge very low for easy Kyle access, which worked! But then he also decided to show off that no, he can still go wherever he wants, by making his way up to the ceiling orb later

#like... i do not even have any ramps in the cage up to there. he HAD to climb#he's starting to lose use of his back legs some again but his front ones are making up for it just fine thankfully for now#also i wish he didnt look so dead in the first picture. he had to slightly open his eyes to keep an eye on me tho#Wow i just realised i can just. #I made a post a couple of weeks ago about intros#Well those arent happening any more because the rat who was supposed to get friends died#I dont know where else to put these words at the moment#But i had also mentioned feeling sad about coming back bc then i'd be skipping Echo#But now. Now it would be both skipping Echo and Rhyme. I dont know if thats better or worse.#Both maybe. Cant have one without the other so its either neither or both.#I hate this i hate rats sometimes. They were two of the best rats and its so unfrai they didnt even make it to 2#I keep thinking 'oh i need to go and-!' About something i'd do with Rhyme#Its just so weird she's not here and i havent had the new 4 long enough to get attached#I know its mean but damn it i want her more than them right now?she was my baby. What are these guys doing here#When their reasoning for being here was to be her friends?#Its just all so weird feeling and hurts. I hate rats sometimes and its the ones i love the most that make me say that.

Rat intros right now is currently just me trying to telepathically tell the oldest that she's allowed to kick the babies' asses

#Hi i know i dont post here anymore but we just moved#So maybe i can start posting again#It feels weird calling Rhyme the oldest but she is#I got her friends of various ages including 2 girls who are 4 months old now#Baby girls. Who are supposed to be the easy age gender combo to introduce to others#But no these little shits are menaces#Theyre doing the little hand rubby terrirorial marking and everything#Which i havent even seen in my boys that had to get fixed due to aggression#I feel like she'd get along with the#Other girl who's a bit older and the boy but. The babies#Wont leave her alone long enough for her to chill with them#Sorry those tags look weird lol i cant see what i'm tying for some reason

hello it is me again that person that only ever logs into their tumblr to ask questions

People with critter nation cages!!! Does anyone have recommendations for getting a replacement for the pans?

:’) i can only find them listed online for like 34 dollars for the bottom one and 50-something on the top one, (and in advance, no i do not want to get metal ones because i cannot stand the sound of metal scraping against metal and just wouldn’t be able to clean the cage at all of the pans are metal! plus i’m using fleece and those are for paper bedding)

I found the top one for $36 and bottom for $30 on ferret.com plus there is a banner at the top of the page about 25% off? I didn’t investigate that further though.

Alternatively you could always use those cement mixing pans that are so popular.

OR since you are using fleece and im guessing wrapping or clipping the fabric on the pans you could just DIY some from corrugated plastic super easy. If I remember right they actually come in critter nation sized sheets so you would only need to alter the top half one to make the opening. You can pick it up at home depot/lowes or a sign shop.

thank you SO much i don’t know why i didn’t think to search for the ferret nation stuff even tho i know it’s the same size! :’D Still a little expensive but a lot less so for the top one and this looks actually legit unlike the listing i found on amazon!! i briefly considered the diy route tbh but i’m SO paranoid about stuff being pet safe and the new babies i have are already proving to be chewers....
