Hey... Do you know the song sung by the voice actor from the pilot Hazbin Hotel? Called Thank you and goodnight. Weirdly this song reminds me of Mystic Messenger, despite being a new fan and having been into this game until this year 2024 I already felt a connection, seeing old posts about this game from an old fan somehow makes me tear up. Despite I'm a fan of 2024, I somehow feel nostalgic about this game despite never actually experience it before

When a character doesn’t realize they’ve been, like, shot or whatever and they hand brushes against their side and comes away wet with blood, and they’re just staring at it like wtf is this and then their knees just totally give out on them and they sink down, maybe gasping a little as the reality finally hits them. That’s good stuff.
I see that, and raise you a character who knows they’ve been shot, but waits until the rest of their crew is out of sight to put their hand against the slowly spreading stain of blood on their shirt, then trying to steady their breathing so they can follow without letting on how injured they are.
Okay but like the character who doesn’t realize they’ve been hurt trying to see if everyone else is okay only to slowly realize that everyone is looking at them with mounting horror. Then they touch their side to find it’s wet and oh no

2024 state of the writer update!
I can’t remember if I mentioned this or not, but a few years ago I discovered I have aphantasia. It made me realize why I sometimes lose track of hands or have trouble figuring out situations when writing.
The stupid thing is that even though I’ve been like this for most of my life (I remember having a clear imagination as a child), it now makes me enjoy writing less because I’m aware of not having the full picture.
The other thing I blame for writing less is general lack of passion, we’ll say. I’d been doing the same job for about seven (hehe) years and it had reached a truly soul crushing point. Thankfully I’m now doing something I like a lot more again.
So what did I do with the newfound energy?
I decided to go back to college for exactly what you would think a fan of 707 would…
…cybersecurity and white hat hacking.
Saeyoung being a hacker was one of the things that got my attention when I found out about MysMe- I promise I’m not becoming a cockroach because of him! Haha. So that’s my life now. I poke at writing here and there. Would you believe I have 4/5 of a William Afton fic done? All the rest is about my FFXIV character ship other than one Very Strange concept I keep thinking about regarding Saeyoung as the “ghost in the machine” situation.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Something that's been knocking around in my head for a while: I think a lot of new writers get thrown off by their assumption that writing will be anything like reading. Reading is a dreamy, passive experience--scenes, dialogue, and description flow over you as you are taken under the writer's spell. Writing, on the other hand (with the exception, sometimes, of the first draft), is the laborious, almost mechanical-like task of putting narrative elements together so that the reader can lose themselves in your story. In short, reading and writing are very different experiences, and the assumption that they will be, or even should be, the same, is cause for much angst among new and experienced writers alike. It's a frustrating thing, because a love of reading is usually what gets people interested in writing in the first place. I've been writing for several decades and I still feel confounded by this clash--it's part of why I don't read much when I'm deep into my writing, and vice versa. And when I am writing, I constantly have to remind myself: Writing is not watching a magic show. Writing is figuring out how to smuggle the rabbit into the hat.
