Stay Close to me + Yuri on Ice

This morning I was listening to Yuri On Ice, and I remembered a scene in episode 5 when Yuri was skating through Yuri on Ice. 

The music starts off as a piano piece and is slowly joined by a violin, becoming a duet. When the violin joins in, Victor says the line above. It sets a baseline for Piano = Yuri, Violin = Victor.

So now, we go to Stammi Vicino (Aria). This song starts with what sounds like flutes, harps (or a stringed instrument utilizing pizzicato) and then adds in violins and trumpets and other instruments until it becomes a full orchestral arrangement. 

Did you notice something missing? No piano. 

Now we listen to Stammi Vicino (duet) and the full orchestral arrangement is replaced with a piano and a violin. 

The male voice begins with the Piano, so we can assume that the male voice is Yuri since when the violins start up, the female voice follows shortly after and Victor actually appears on screen.

So with this, we can take the lyrics from the Wiki and add in the people who are singing it:

[ Yuri ] I hear a voice weeping in the distance Have you maybe been abandoned as well? Come now, I’ll quickly finish this glass of wine I’ll start to get ready Be quiet now [ Yuri & Victor ] Stay close to me, don’t go away I’m afraid of losing you [ Yuri ] Your hands, [ Victor ] your legs, [ Yuri ] My hands, [ Victor ] my legs, [ Yuri & Victor ] And our heartbeats Are blending together [ Victor ] Let’s leave together [ Yuri ] I’m ready now

When Victor skated the song, it was a lonely man seeking companionship, asking to not be abandoned. Yuri mirrored this and brought them together once more after Barcelona. Victor then reciprocated by dedicating their song to Yuri and mirroring what Yuri on Ice became for them - Yuri discovering Victor’s love. 

When Yuri and Victor skate this it becomes the story of their love: Yuri reaching out to Victor across oceans and telling him he’s there. Them embracing at the airport and Yuri asking Victor to stay as his coach until he retires and Victor willingly accepting still believing that Yuri will skate for 5+ years and therefore giving up his career for Yuri. They discover each other through their routines, creating Yuri’s exhibition skate together and accepting each other’s love through their experiences in Barcelona. 

In the end, they both decide to leave Barcelona together, go to Russia and Stay Close to each other by skating as competitors, and by staying student and coach.

Oh! I just had a moment of revelation. If the Violin = Victor, the whole Eros program is totally Yuri trying to seduce Victor. The music theory holds. It makes a lot of sense!
