im not trying to get sympathy for gero btw lmao, he pretty much outright says he doesnt regret anything and everything hes ever done was by his own choice because he craved the freedom of choice as a child
hes a cruel man that came from a strict, yet almost normal childhood home and its HIS decisions that made him who he was, i want him to be that kind of antagonist who knows hes this way because of his own decisions, he’s aware, he doesn’t need or WANT sympathy or people to ‘like’ him, he’s perfectly content being alone, the only time it really ‘bothers’ him is when his creations dont listen to him
but even then thats just him not programming them correctly, if they were any other people who didnt listen to him like say, regular soldiers, he wouldnt care
idk it’s weird, hes a sort of tragic character because he could have chose to do other things to mourn his kid, he could have chose to be a doctor or engineer or something along those lines to save people, but HE chose to join a crime syndicate that ultimately drove him into madness and the loss of both of his kids and it’s really tragic, but he’s aware of these things and he continues to choose to be a terrible man, he’s CONSCIOUS about it, which is why i don’t care about the lack of sympathy/empathy if that makes sense??
idk im just trying to give depth into the android everyone doesn’t care about next to 19, 13-15 lmao

"Listen up, doc. That gent you call Android 13? He's lookin' to live a normal life. With /me/. Which means you're gonna keep your grubby hands off him even more than usual. Got it?"

“While that sentiment is terribly optimistic of you, nothing good will last forever,” That could be misconstrued as a threat, it was something Gero wholeheartedly believed, despite him believing in anything other than scientific facts was uncharacteristic of him.

“Regardless, I have no interest in Subject Thirteen, given both him and his biological twin are defective and not necessary to my research.”

Although, that was not a promise he’d leave Thirteen be.

for every “⏳” i receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory. || OPEN

“Not every great mind comes from a rich place or from privilege, not every terrible person comes from a terrible place. Anyone is capable of doing terrible things,” That was something necessary to address to one of the ‘children’ of his ultimate creation. A technical grandchild of sorts, but knowing Gero, he would never consider the relations real. Only property, credit, something his mind created.

“I was in a middle class home. We weren’t rich, we weren’t poor. My parents were incredibly strict and had high expectations, I have a younger brother ten years my junior, Wheelo, and he had just as much expectations on him as I did.”

He never spoke of his brother often, or of his parents, but even then he felt nothing as he spoke of them. Years of disassociating from them tended to do that to someone like Gero.

“Our mother favored him, our father favored myself. We were often pitted against each other, compared to each other, and I had to be the one to behave, to set an example for him and I never really had my own life to live. My father set me on the path he wanted, he wanted me to become a doctor, he chose out the wife he wanted me to have when I was only fifteen,” He frowns.

“I fled with my brother, we found our own home, we chose what we wanted to do and we never spoke to our parents again after that. My brother and I grew close, almost inseparable but I married the woman of his affections and we grew cold to each other. We were never malicious to each other, but we were never the same.”

Gero does not know the fate of Wheelo, nor did he ever seek him out as his career grew. He doesn’t know what his younger brother did, he never will.

“I had twins, and decades later, I was the best in each field I studied in. My talents were sought out by a man named Red, and I soon became a valued researcher in his army and my son wanted to join me in the Red Ribbon Army. My daughter, I don’t know what happened to her, I grew too absorbed in my work and I suppose that’s what caused them to..”

Gero’s face grows cold and he becomes silent for a moment.

“That’s all that needs to be said.”

I can respect that headcanon, I just personally hate the idea of 21 being his wife/modeled after his wife because I can’t STAND the idea of him being an old android and she has to stay young looking. Like, if she’s his wife why can’t she be old too? It just gives me weird vibes with the insinuation that he pretty much made her stay young looking while he grew old, yuck! And ships with massive age differences, or looking like they have an age difference bothers me a lot in the first place ( in regards to humans tho, aliens and shit in media that live for 100+ years are fine so long as their partner is like, 30+ lmao ) but I’m rambling aaa
Agree to disagree tho! I won’t bash on anyone’s headcanons, I just personally find the idea of 21 being his wife a little overplayed and gross to me for the reasons stated above, I think her being his daughter honestly has more interesting dynamics like- did she pursue her father’s ambitions because she looked up to him? Did her brother’s death affect her similar to her father and drove her to become and android?? Honestly, I wouldn’t MIND her being his wife if she actually aged like Gero did :/ that’s what irks me the most, I suppose. Like we already got the pretty android, give me another old android!!
I do enjoy the idea of Gero working on random people though, because it gives me the impression that he views them as test subjects and not people with families and things like that, it gives me more of his character to think about haha
thanks for your input tho! I love talking about ‘non canon’ things with everyone<3

bioxdroid replied to your post: (WHAT IF GERO LOST A SECOND CHILD AND THAT'S WHAT DROVE HIM OVER THE EDGE)

that would make a lot of sense context wise for this blog- i can’t imagine he’d be full blown mad scientist if one of his kids were still alive, bc i’d imagine they’d keep him grounded and help him cope healthily
but losing both? yes, that’d definitely break him to the point of trying to ‘bring them back’ and end up starting his android fascination ( or at least continue it since at the time of their deaths i’d imagine at least 3 of the 21 androids were built )
their deaths would also result in him losing any kind of compassion or sympathy/empathy and he’s very incapable of feeling any father/child bond with any of his biological creations ( i.e Cell and Serrana ) which is why i said in context of this blog, it makes a shit ton of sense
fucking great headcanon tho, i love giving this creep some depth
Avatar
that being said, holy shit new headcanon
gero has a thing for twins ( experimenting like the fucked up man he is ) subconsciously because 21 and 16 were twins
like, ( rpwise ) he’s worked on daryl an ellis ( droidinatruckerhat and android-13 ) then 16 and 21 later, and then 17 and 18
like perhaps he had a fascination with the concept of two identical or fraternal twins being raised in the same environment but treated differently since that’s probably what happened with his kids, and then himself with his brother ( tho theyre not twins it still affected him )
so he just got these random twins, plus his own, and worked on them, wanted to see how each would react to being an android ( save for 16 bc....his original self is dead but it’s still applicable to 21 somewhat ) and once their original memory was wiped and pretty much a blank slate
he’d probably run experiments, see how each would react to being in the same situations but praised differently. all goes well until they get their memories back and try to kill him lmao back on the shelf for them
but i do like the idea of gero both finding twins fascinating, but also despising them, and ends up favoring one more than the other ( although i do genuinely believed he loved 16 a lot since my portrayal has his death effecting him a lot, so he probably favored him more than 21 )
idk i’M RAMBLING LMAO, but i love all these potential ideas with Gero, cus he can honestly be a fascinating character once you actually look at his actions and motivations

ok a y but like- i’m constantly seeing ( gross ) posts and artwork about 21 being gero’s wife and i’m like-
1. that seemingly age gap is nasty af
2. can u iMAGINE HOW CUTE IT WOULD BE IF SHE WAS HIS DAUGHTER? like- give me a semi happy gero bonding with a kid that’s still alive over s ci e n ce and being evil assholes
3. GIVE ME AN OLD GRANDMA ANDROID GERO’S WIFE WHO DOESN’T TAKE HIS SHIT AND WANTS TO HELP THE OTHER ANDROIDS AND DIVORCED HIS ASS A LONG TIME AGO
4. i’ll prolly make the two above blog canon cus frankly, these ideas have a lot more potential than ‘ship the physically young girl android w the old man who possibly brainwashed her and it’s creepy af’ like,,,, give me another old android but make her a sweet old lady who doesn’t take gero’s shit

"You have a false understanding of how Thirteen works," He sighs through his nose. Even if he did cooperate, it would take a lot of time and it would be risky depending on Thirteen's condition. "But first, I need clarifications just so I know what I might be dealing with."

"What are his injuries and how stable is he?"
