Party at Will and Kate’s! Royal Couple Hosts Young Heroes at Their Palace Home

Prince William and Princess Kate laid out the welcome mat for a party at their Kensington Palace home this week.

On Tuesday, the same day the couple honored British Olympians and Paralympians at Buckingham Palace, they also hosted a party for a special group of young leaders.

The winners of BBC Radio 1’s Teen Heroes awards, which celebrates the exceptional achievements of young people, were invited to spend an evening with Will and Kate.

This year’s teen heroes have focused on volunteering and mental health awareness – a cause that’s important to William, Kate and Prince Harry.

Alongside presenters Greg James, Nick Grimshaw and Clara Amfo, the teens got to share their stories with the royal couple.

Kate told them, “I don’t know how all of you find time to do the volunteering. It’s such a great thing.”

Calling them “champions,” William praised them for being a “huge inspiration.”

“You are the most modest people I have ever met,” he said. “You should be very, very proud of all the hard work and effort you have put in. You’re leading the way, so well done.”

Among the teens being honored at the awards show in London on Sunday are Lewis, 15, who despite his own health problems, has created a social platform for poorly and disabled young children. Niamh, 15, who has a rare auto immune illness, and Joe, 17, and Toby, 15, who are active volunteers and fundraisers for Cancer Research UK.

The show, a big event in the pop world in the U.K., will also feature performances from Little Mix, Jess Glynne, The Vamps, DNCE and more.

Kate said Charlotte is loving learning to ride, while George was using his polo stick as a hockey stick-much to her delight. And although Kate doesn’t share 17-month Charlotte’s “passion” for horses, she’s said she’ll champion and encourage it as much as poss. https:/t.co/u59R1WX8kT
