People often say forgiveness is needed to heal but I vehemently disagree. The way I see it forgiveness is something that is indeed needed when it's for a relationship you want to heal and continue, but not for a relationship you need to protect yourself from or terminate. Accepting what has happened in the past and that you can't go back and fix it is important but, but it's not the same as forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift earned by willingness to change and be better.
