honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.

okay i love corrie whump but please consider this:

the corries arrive on coruscant. their training at kamino was, shall we say, maladjusted, and then they are treat like shit by the natborns. however, unlike the GAR and their jedi and the wider galaxy, the corries have… no other example of how natborn society works.

the corries have no idea that there’s a sith in the senate. there’s an arsehole or twenty but that’s okay, thorn has something on most of the aides and stone is collecting protection from the others. it’s all under control.

LoopHole is the only one not with a name based on his number but because he’s so good at finding loopholes in everything.

CT-1010 was a part of a batch that wasn’t the best of soldiers. They tried their best by slowly, one by one, each got decommissioned for their low scores.

CT-1010 felt he was a phony to continue on in another squad after all his batchmates were gone; but just like all cadets his age, he was excited to hear the CC’s pick out their names and what they meant for clones like him. The possibility that he would serve one of them.

When he learned of Fox’s birth number, he gathered all his wit and tried to seek out the CC himself. Instead he met with another CC who had yet to choose a name but was a mutie as well. Blonde hair, longer than his was, with a courage that couldn’t be hidden.

CT-1010 spent hours talking to him, about his fears, his doubts, how he feels like a fake; and then his idea to name himself Faux.

“I already know I’m a phony but … I think it’d be funny as a pun as well.”

The mutie stared at him for two long seconds before smiling. “I think it works better as a pun than what you got going in your head. After all, we’re soldiers for a reason.” He grabbed Faux’s hand, pulling him from the ground in which they were sitting down on. “Just don’t forget: you’re more than your name.”

Faux left with a good feeling in his chest.
