Jack didn't have an answer to that, he wasn't quite clear either. His relationship with Nick in his mind fluctuated so damn much it might have been easier to just cut his losses and be done with it.
Yes, he was useful and he was interesting, enough so that he would have loved to have his best doctor put him under the knife to really see how he clicked and if it could be replicated.
But the thought of it made him feel SICK. Which was laughable! Handsome Jack feeling sick over the thought of a science experiment? HA. He was all for the advancement of medical science if it gave him access to cool new toys especially at the cost of people.
... Nick wasn't just any person though. That was his son. Someone he had met before he ever became the CEO of Hyperion and a connection like that was rare and something he couldn't just get rid of.
"Uhhhh cause you're my kid???? Do I need a reason beyond that, Nicky?" He looked annoyed, how many times did he need to repeat it for him to get it through his thick skull that he actually kind of cared a little bit.

He was just sitting on a set of steps, head boredly in his hands, as if waiting for someone to stop by. Vash’s head lifts and turns as if on an owlish pivot to see who had been addressing him. And then he beams, though not as brightly as he typically did. a genuine, relieved smile that would alert anyone in their right mind to something being off. If it weren’t for the other glaring alarms he’d been exhibiting throughout the last few days.
“Mr. Jack!” Vash happily trills. “I- Yeah. Just- hanging in there, really” its more than just hanging around. but he wasn’t going to worry new friends with his problems. “What about you? What’re you doing here? enjoying your afternoon?”
Hanging in there? Ooohhh, the opportunities just keep presenting themselves.
Jack came closer and decided to take a seat next to Vash on the steps, while he normally wouldn’t risk ruining his clothes for something like this he knew it would make getting the other to trust him that much easier.
“What’s up, kid?” He stretched out his legs and leaned as far back as his feathers and wings would let him. “Me? Oh yeah, sure, was just enjoying... the sights and the stars. I like the heat.” He couldn’t feel it but he was comfortable, his watch didn’t even tell him he was in danger of overheating so that was a bonus.
