Everyone knows that ‘Meridian’ is a bad episode, but I have a specific argument for why it’s out of character for Jadzia: all of her other impulsive, risk-taking behavior is about preserving her existing relationships! She places an extremely high value on loyalty. Jadzia Dax was willing to suffer total alienation from Trill society and the eventual death of her symbiont to maintain a relationship with Lenara Kahn that Torias Dax started. Jadzia Dax was willing to risk her Starfleet career and commit murder to uphold an oath of vengeance that Curzon Dax made. Yes, she’s gregarious and flirty, yes she’s the kind of person who could meet a guy on a day trip down to his planet and immediately start a relationship with him, but she is not the kind of person who would prioritize that new relationship over her career, her symbiont, her friends, and her family.

I would immediately be suspicious of any argument that leans heavily on dehumanizing the Middle East. A big reason why the world has let Palestinian genocide go on for this long is because to them Arabs are misogynistic homophobic violent backwards terrorists, so many people have grown comfortable to the idea that war is inherent to Arab countries—because they literally see Arabs as subhuman. This has been their strategy for years and years and years. It’s literally the same cycle over and over again.

Iran being accused of trying to start WW3 reminds me of the US essentially justifying a decade’s worth of invasion and occupation of Iraq with the fact that “they’re hiding nuclear weapons” “they’re a threat” “they need to be checked.” It’s the crux on which they aid and abet demolishing these countries and sapping them of all their resources. And it’s hitting me how tentative this whole thing is bc again: Iran is the only country that can truly retaliate against Israel. It literally benefits imperialist countries to dehumanize Iran and make it seem as if it’s yet another inherent threat a western savior like the US needs to take out. This is precisely what they want.

It legitimately makes me feel insane to watch people go back and forth with each other about “harm reduction” and the “lesser evil” because harm reduction for who? Lesser evil for who? Why do I have to watch my people get slaughtered and constantly worry about the safety of my own family and listen to you individualist bootlicking liberals cry “But what about ME”

Plenty of highly intelligent people end up getting sucked in to cults because they just wanted people to hang out with. There are antivaxxer nurses. Your ability to act on empirical reason breaks down fast if your social and emotional needs aren't being met.

Like, I reject this idea that people end up becoming tradwives or antivaxxers or cult members because they were dumb. These groups prey on people by filling the social and emotional needs of vulnerable people. They look for people who need help, and give it to them on predatory conditions.

Don't forget about the Palestinians.

Don't forget them next year.

Don't forget them in 5 years.

When the history books start to update, don't let them put lies in there.

When documentaries come out, boycott the ones who call this a victory for Israel.

When books release talking about soldier's personal experiences with Palestine, remember the victims. Remember the truth.

Yes this this this! It clicked for me when I watched a video of Sophie doing red carpet interviews when she was up for a grammy. During the course of the usual red carpet banter with Entertainment news personalities, the jackass interviewing Sophie misgendered her! Fucking Sophie Xeon, who was a goddess that positively oozed femininity, was misgendered on live television! That's when I realized that the rare person who still misgenders me at this point, after 4yrs of HRT, is 100% doing it intentionally.

A friend of mine, who has D cups, FFS, and over 6yrs of HRT under her belt, recently got misgendered by a colleague. She was wracking her brain trying to figure it if it was just an honest mistake and what could have tripped him up, "was it my voice? was it the fact I didn't have any makeup on?" and I was like, "hon, no one in their right mind would look at you and actually think you're a guy. Maybe he clocked you as trans, but it's pretty fucking obvious what gender you are going for and still he chose to refer to you as a man. It couldn't possibly be a mistake."

So, remember this folks when it happens to you! Don't bother trying to get into the minds of the cis assholes who misgender you! Trying to figure out what they're thinking is a colossal waste of your time and it will only make your anxiety and dysphoria worse. You have a right right to feel hurt by their callous behavior but don't let it drag you down into sadness, instead allow yourself to feel anger because righteous anger is how you remind yourself of who you are and what you deserve. The problem isn't you the transsexual, it's them and their poisoned cis hearts.

For Australian residents!

A House of Representatives petition has just been filed. Unlike other petitions, this one will be presented to the House and requires a response from a Minister.

Elbit Systems, the Israeli defence contractor responsible for much of the weaponry currently causing devastation in Gaza, has just been awarded a $917 million contract with the Australian government.

The demand of this petition is to remove all contracts and deals between Australia and Elbit Systems.

Again, this is more than a change.org petition - this is a government petition with a certainty of being tabled before the House of Representatives. This is just one step of many that this country needs to take in ending Australia's support for the genocide of Palestinians.

By the very definition of being disabled, a condition that is debilitating, hindering and DIS-ABLING

Your condition can, will and does stop you from doing things

That doesn't mean you're always entirely incapable, you can still be capable of things

But there's no shame in the cants. Nothing wrong with the can't dos. It's okay to let your disability stop you, that's pretty much the point of calling it a disability, of having one, is that there's some things you can't do.

That's fine.

So next time someone says some shit like "don't let it stop you" or doing something regardless of your condition

Ask them to define the word disability. Or just tell them to go fuck themselves cuz they are not with the spoons you could spend on something better.
