Basically, it boils down to this:

  1. The preponderance of evidence is that most trending calling posts on Tumblr alleging sexual misconduct by trans women are fabricated by the same relatively small group of bad-faith actors, and that these bullshit callout posts outnumber the legit ones by a considerable margin.
  2. If you think you can tell the legit callout posts and the bullshit ones apart just by looking at them, you're almost certainly wrong.
  3. Like most mechanisms of social control which are based on ostracism, callout posts tend to be most effective against people who are already in a position of vulnerability, and concomitantly, tend to have no significant long-term effect when deployed against people in positions of power or authority.

What all this adds up to is that even leaving the moral dimension of the act aside, from a purely pragmatic perspective, reblogging that callout post accusing a random trans woman you've never heard of of being a dogfucker or what-have-you is an action which in a worst-case scenario will contribute to ruining an innocent person's life, and in a best-case scenario is likely to accomplish nothing whatsoever.

Folks often justify reblogging callout posts without performing due diligence under the rubric of "better safe than sorry", but any realistic assessment of the likely outcomes will tell you that the true "better safe than sorry" course of action is to keep your damn mouth shut!

Platforms likely conflate positioning with popularity, failing to see the self-fulfilling prophecy of an algorithm making stuff popular because said stuff is built to please the algorithm creating more demand for content to please the algorithm. "Viral" content is no longer a result of lots of people deciding that they find something interesting.

When trans women are mocked and made into jokes in the media, I get very upset, and I am often told “Kay, you can’t go through life getting offended every time someone makes a joke.” And I sputter and object but they don’t hear me. So I want to be clear for once, about why the jokes make me angry.

I learned to hate myself for being transgender before I knew I was transgender. I laughed at the jokes in stand up comedy routines, and prime time sitcoms, and animated comedy shows, and in the movies, and in books, and in games, laughing at trans women for existing, about “men in dresses”, about people who “got their dicks chopped off”, and I learned to think that was worthy of ridicule.

And then a day came when I felt a pang of envy at what my female classmates were wearing and I repressed it, and felt guilty, and a day where I felt incomplete because I had no breasts and I repressed it and I felt disgusting And a day when I realized the only images of romance that made me feel anything showed two women together and I repressed it and I felt like a monster And a day when I realized I felt sick when I looked at myself in the mirror after every shower before work and couldn’t bear to look at my own face, and I hated myself. And then there came a day when I hated myself so much, and I thought I could never understand why, and so I just wanted it all to end. And it was just a miracle that I swerved my car back into my lane in time.

And all of it started with a joke that I heard on TV, and then kept hearing from all the voices from the ether, over and over and over, worming an idea into my mind before I was old enough to realize I was absorbing it, the idea that a man in a dress is funny, and that changing your body parts makes you a freak, and that women who have penises instead of vaginas are liars and hurt men. And they’re still making these jokes. And somewhere out there right now, just like all those years ago, there is a little girl in a t-shirt and cargo shorts with buzzed off hair watching the TV, hearing that joke and absorbing it without knowing it, who will someday have to pry herself apart to tear it out of her head, just like I did.

That is, if she doesn’t kill herself first.

I know this is a really heavy post but if you read it and you appreciated it, I’d appreciate it in return if you reblogged it. This is really important to me and I want people to read it and understand it. Thank you.

Such a poignant and well written statement

I would genuinely like to know who to blame for making these children so disconnected from the concept of imagination that they think the simpler explanation for what they’re doing is that they’re projecting their consciousness into one of infinite realities where fictional characters are real.

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.

How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?

That is a genocide.

That this is a crime on all accounts.

And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.

op is so right and here’s some evidence (not even a fraction of it all):

  • “I can’t go to Hell. I’m all out of vacation days.”
  • “Despite everything, it’s still you.”
  • “My brother’d really like to see a human, so it’d really help me out if you’d keep pretending to be one.”
  • “Don’t worry, my little monarch, my plan isn’t regicide. This is so much more interesting.”
  • “First, however, is as customary for those who make it this far… I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people. It all started, long ago… No. You know what? SCREW IT! WHY SHOULD I TELL YOU THAT STORY WHEN YOU’RE ABOUT TO DIE!”
  • “The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others.”
  • “If I were you, I would have thrown in the towel by now. But you didn’t get this far by giving up, did you? That’s right. You have something called ‘determination.’ So long as you hold on… so long as you do what’s in your heart…I believe you can do the right thing. Alright. We’re all counting on you, kid. Good luck.”
  • “I understand why Asgore took so long to hire a new royal scientist. The previous one… Dr. Gaster. His brilliance was irreplaceable. However, his life… was cut short. One day, his experiments went wrong, and… Well, I needn’t gossip. After all, it’s rude to talk about someone who’s listening.”
  • “You should be smiling, too. Aren’t you excited? Aren’t you happy? You’re going to be free.”

yeah yeah sans undertale jokes but “its a beautiful day outside, birds are singing, flowers are blooming. on days like these, kids like you, should be burning in hell” is extremely raw
