Hey I'm Mathilde! I am 20 and live in Wellington, New Zealand. My personality is basically defined by my love for Taylor Swift. Taylor followed me on 20/06/15 (I died dead) Went to the 1989 Melbourne Night 2 on the 11/12/15 and to the Rep tour in Auckland on the 9/11/18!

What’s so significant about all too well ten min version going #1 is that it did so purely based on people choosing to listen to it. It wasn’t play listed. It wasn’t on the radio. This was people choosing to stream it, choosing to watch the short film, choosing to watch the lyric videos, choosing to listen to the sad girl autumn version, choosing to buy the singles. In essence, this is a number one that is truly reflective of “how many people are choosing to listen to this song this week”. No games, no payola, no radio back patting.

So proud and happy this is the kind of warm welcome ATW10 received because while any song taylor has in a drawer is undoubtedly good, this one is truly representative of her very best songwriting and shows why she is so phenomenal at it. Imagery. Personal tiny details. Symbolism. Storytelling. Metaphors. Amazing bridge(s). Plays on words, meaning changes of words. Catchy chorus/hook. Ties into other songs of hers. Everything you would ever want in a song, it has it. It’s all there.

i know people care about what details it gives about taylor/jake but i love the fictionalised element to it. like taylor being a successful storyteller but as an author not a singer and having red hair to match sadie instead of sadie being made to look like her. i feel like it sort of removes it from being just like celebrity breakup gossip and elevates it into this epic tragic love story. obviously we all know the inspiration but it really stands on its own as a work of art. like i wasn’t watching it thinking “oh this is the story of a taylor swift breakup” i was just watching a short film about love and heartbreak and coming of age.

Who knew how life changing being able to legally drink wine during a new Red album would be!?

“I think one thing I noticed about just this week in general is that I think back to the release week of Red—which is the album out, just in case anyone missed it—which originally came out about a decade ago. I was 22 and that release week was so stressful because no one had heard any of the music. There are like 14 different genres in this album. It’s quite a patchwork quilt on genre. I was experimenting. And I think I was so focused on, ‘Is anyone going to like it?’ And I was also at the time, honestly really sad, because I had gone through the stuff that I had sung about. But this time I’ve got sunglasses on and like a mojito. It’s chill this time. It’s nice to put this album out and not be sad, not be taking breaks between interviews to cry. It’s much better this way. Time passing, you know? And reliving your experiences from your 20s in your 30s is really the way to do it.”

thinking abt how stay x3 is also rlly sad not only bc taylor wrote abt a basically rlly toxic relationship but because she’s singing “all those times that you didn’t leave it’s been occurring to me I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” echoing the archer…. like who could ever leave me but who could stay… this feeling of who would ever want to stay with me…. PLS

Just a friendly reminder that I would never have thought it was possible to go back and remake my previous work, uncovering lost art and forgotten gems along the way, if you hadn’t emboldened me. Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Tonight we begin again. Red (my version) is out now.
