@ the last anon asking about childhood friends with marriage plans: it's not a complete fanfic and more like headcanon mixed with fanfic? Anyways, it was written by the-gay-in-the-way, they titled the post "hey romance for once" i believe

I Love You

A/N: I tried. I’m not so good at fluff, but I’m really feeling it, so I’m making a few drabbles. Ships/Pairings: Romantic moxiety Word Count: 204 Warnings: None

Patton ran his fingers through Virgil’s hair, smiling softly as the other viewed his phone. “What you looking at, sweetheart?” He asked him, in a voice akin to a whisper. “Speedpaint.” Virgil replied simply, shifting closer to Patton. The soft smile grew with delight. Patton absolutely loved this. The calm, silence that made him feel peaceful. The warmth of Virgil laying with him on the couch. The softness of Virgil’s hair as his fingers made contact with it. It was perfect.

Virgil eyes met with Patton staring at him with a goofy grin. “What?” Patton’s only response was a kiss to the forehead. “What??” He repeated, with a hint of a slight laugh in his voice. Slowly, as to not make Virgil uncomfortable, Patton got up slightly. “Just…you. How much I absolutely love you, and how I will never stop, and how I am so lucky to have you.” Virgil’s cheeks flushed in response, causing him to place his head on Patton’s shoulder to hide it.

“I love you too, Pat.” Virgil said, before giving Patton a small peck. “Your honestly the light of my life.”

The two lay there before falling soundly asleep, cuddling each other, with no intent of letting go.

Moxiety Fluff

Pairing: Platonic or romantic Moxiety (you decide)

Genre: Fluff

Word count: 508

Warnings: Tickling (just one poke or something), tooth-rotting fluff

Summary: Virgil is not feeling well, and Patton knows exactly how to deal with it. (I am sorry, I’m really bad at summaries)

Author’s notes: So I wrote this yesterday at 1 am apparently and I have no real memory of writing this, but my best friend enjoyed it when I let him read this, so I decided to post it. Feel free to point out mistakes, because I’m still learning how to write stories, and English isn’t my first language.

Enjoy!

“Heyyy, Virgil!” Patton said as if he was talking to a child, peeking up from the side of the couch.

Virgil fondly rolled his eyes. “Hey Pat.” he sighed.

Virgil could feel the grin on Patton’s face, and he wasn’t even looking.

“Aw, Virge, are you mad at me?” Patton said in the same tone as before while fake-pouting. Virgil couldn’t help it, one of the corners of his lips lifted a bit.

“Yes, Patton, I am really mad at you. I dunno if I can forgive you, for what you did.”

He felt Patton getting closer, but he didn’t look his way. “And what can I do to make my favorite kiddo forgive me?” Yup, his voice was getting closer.

“There is nothing you can do, Patton. You really did something no one can forgive you for. Shame on you, Pat.” Virgil had the urge to grin. He and Patton have been playing this game for a long time, especially when Virgil was not feeling well.

“Can you at least give me a little smile, Virgil? I’m not asking for forgiveness, but I do wanna see that adorable smile of yours.” Virgil was biting his lip to hold back his smile, but Patton was simply too good at this.

Patton was right in front of him. Virgil refused to look him in the eyes, but that was hard when his face was like five centimeters away from the other’s. Patton poked with his index fingers into Virgil’s cheeks. “Are you a squishy boy? Yes you are!” Virgil barely held back a snort. “What was that, kiddo? Was that a snort? Are you gonna laugh? Are you?” Patton pulled Virgil’s face into a smile, and Virgil burst out into laughing. Patton laughed along with him, Virgil’s laugh was simply too contagious to not do so.

Virgil teasingly pushed Patton away from him, causing him to almost fall off the couch. To stabilize himself, Patton instinctively grabbed onto Virgil, causing them both to fall off the couch, their laughing only getting worse. Both were lying on the floor, Virgil on top of Patton, and Patton took this as an opportunity to hug Virgil. “Am I forgiven now, Virge?” He asked between laughs.

“Never!”

“Well, then there is only one more thing to do!” He flipped them around and pinned Virgil down on the floor. He poked into Virgil’s sides.

“Okay, okay! I forgive you, don’t tickle, please!” Virgil shouted, barely understandable through the laughter.

“I knew I could count on that!” Patton rolled himself off Virgil on the ground and they let the laughter die down.

Virgil let out a happy sigh. “I really needed that, Pat. Thanks.” he said, turning to Patton.

“Good to hear that, kiddo.” Patton gave Virgil a fond smile.

Then they just laid there in silence, only the sound of their breathing filling the room.

“Patton?” Virgil’s voice cut through the silence.

“Yeah, Virge?”

“I loooove you…” Virgil said in the same teasing voice Patton used earlier.

Patton grinned. “I love you too, kiddo.”

Platonic Moxiety and uhhhh... blanket?

Avatar

ohhhhh boi heck yes this was fun to write. i may have played around with the idea of virgil being ‘frozen in fear’, y’know like how a person can be frozen in fear (in this case, the person is thomas, and this kinda shows how it would affect virgil, i guess).

basically, there’s a little virgil-angst at the beginning, and then some moxiety hurt/comfort and cuddles at the end ‘cause i’m a sucker for moxiety cuddles.

736 words long somehow. enjoy!

Ice crept up the walls of Virgil’s room, across the floor, up his bed. It was getting increasingly difficult to stay warm, to move, to breath. His hoodie was doing nothing - that too had frozen.

Why had Thomas decided to watch that horror movie on this night? His eyes were glued to the screen, unable to look away, unable to move from the intense fear he felt. Alone, as well, with nobody around to comfort him. And in a dark room. Anything could happen. There were a million different ways that Thomas could die in that moment.

Due to all of this, Virgil had, quite literally, frozen in fear. And he hated it. It had happened before, of course, way too many times for Virgil’s liking, but it had never been this bad. Never been this cold. And Virgil had never been this helpless.

Even after the movie had ended, Virgil stayed in the same spot, shivering. He couldn’t reach for his blankets for extra warmth. All he could do was sit and suffer as he waited, desperately hoping that the cold would go away.

He didn’t know how long he had stayed there. It could have been hours. It could have been weeks. Time was meaningless to him. He had tried to sleep, but his eyes wouldn’t close. He had tried to call for help, but no sound would come out of his mouth.

Eventually, he heard a light knock on his door, and a soft voice from the other side. “Virgil? Are you okay, kiddo?”

Patton. Patton was out there. Patton could help him. Virgil tried to speak, but nothing came out.

“Virgil?” Patton repeated. There was a brief moment of silence, as Virgil wished he could say something. But he couldn’t. He just sat there, coated in frost. “I’m gonna come in, okay?”

If he could, Virgil would have smiled as Patton opened the door and rushed inside. But then he realised that Patton was now in the cold, as well. And he was wearing way less layers that Virgil. He wouldn’t be able to survive in this. Oh God, oh God, oh God.

Patton reached the side of the bed, and sat down on the side, his eyes filled with concern. “Virgil? What happened?” Virgil noticed his white breath coming out his mouth as he spoke, a sign of the cold already affecting him.

Oh God, what if he touches me, will that-

“I’m gonna take you to my room, okay?”

No! No, you can’t, what if-

“You need to warm up. You can’t stay in here any longer, kiddo.” Patton reached out a hand. Virgil, somehow, managed to flinch back. He didn’t want to hurt Patton. He didn’t want Patton to suffer like he had.

Patton drew his hand back, sensing Virgil’s discomfort. Instead of his original plan, he clicked his fingers, and the two were sat in Patton’s bed. Immediately, Virgil felt a wave of warmth rush through his body. He could breath properly again, at least. But the ice was still there. And he could swear he had saw some creep it’s way onto Patton’s bed. He hoped that he was just imagining that.

Patton wrapped a blanket around Virgil. “Do you think you can talk?” he asked.

Virgil tried to open his mouth to reply, but nothing happened. Patton seemed to take that as a no.

“Okay, can I… can I hug you?” he requested. “That might help to warm you up.”

A million thoughts flashed through Virgil’s mind, every one of them leading to the answer of no. What if that caused Patton to freeze as well? What if it hurt him? What if it didn’t even work?

But, before he could say anything, Patton’s arms were wrapped around him. His immediate thought was warm. Patton seemed to be radiating heat. Almost enough to make Virgil forget about his fears. Almost. A part of him still wanted Patton to leave, to make sure that Patton wouldn’t be hurt. But that wouldn’t help, would it? And this seemed to be working.

Virgil shifted closer to Patton, allowing Patton to join him under the blanket. Patton kept his arms securely around him. Virgil buried his head in Patton’s chest, and managed to close his eyes, drifting off to sleep with the sudden burst of warmth.

When he woke up, still intertwined in Patton’s arm, the ice had melted away.

i hope that y’all enjoyed that? it’s been an idea that’s been jumping around my head for a while actually but apparently i’ve never done anything with it. i’m v happy to finally do something with this ^^ and this was v fun to write.

feel free to like/reblog if you enjoyed!

Love Like You

A Sanders Sides One-Shot

Warnings: Self-deprecating thoughts, minor panic attack

Pairings: Platonic Moxiety, brief mention of Logicality

Description: This was inspired by the song ‘Love Like You’ from Steven Universe.

Word Count: 1,231

“Virgil, could you get some more paper towels from the kitchen? These shelves are a bit more dusty than I thought,” Roman turned to face Virgil, holding up a hand to show him the dirty paper towel.

Virgil made a face and nodded. “Ugh, gross. Yeah, I’ll be right back.” He headed to the kitchen to grab them. The day had been going pretty well. After they’d all had breakfast, Patton had announced that it was cleaning day. “The house is getting a bit too cluttered and I know if we all work together, it’ll be fun!”

Logan was in the kitchen, putting up the clean dishes. “Hey, Lo. Where’d you move the paper towels?” The logical side jumped a little at the sound of Virgil’s voice, almost dropping the plate he was holding. Virgil raised an eyebrow at him and let out a soft sigh of irritation.

“Virgil. I apologize; you startled me.” He put the plate up in the cabinet. “The paper towels are on top of the fridge; I had to move them so I could wipe down the counters,” he replied. Virgil grabbed them and headed back to the living room. “Why do I always scare everyone? I thought they were used to me by now… Are they faking it? What if they’re just pretending to like me?” The ugly thoughts circled around and around in an endless loop. He gave Roman the paper towels and went back to folding the blankets.

The room was silent for a few minutes until Roman let out a dramatic sigh. “Oh, heavens, it’s too quiet in here! Which means it’s boring! How about some music?” Patton smiled and nodded enthusiastically.

“That sounds great!” the moral side agreed. Roman grinned and conjured up a speaker. “Let’s play some music from Steven Universe! I love those songs,” Roman said as the music started. Patton giggled and sang with Roman.

/We are the Crystal Gems/We’ll always save the day/And if you think we can’t/We’ll always find a way/That’s why the people of this world/Believe in/Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl/And Steven/

Virgil shook his head, smiling softly at them. He loved them so much. He loved how gentle and kind Patton was. He loved Roman’s singing (though he’d never admit it; the Prince’s ego was big enough). He loved Logan’s tangents and ‘accidental’ dad jokes. But what he couldn’t understand was why they were letting him in to their friend group. He got lost in his thoughts as he cleaned up, half way listening to the music.

Patton finished up his part of the cleaning. “Great work so far, kiddos! We’re almost done. I’ll be right back; I’m going to go talk to Logan.”

Roman chuckled as soon as Patton was out of earshot. “Pfft, talk, huh? How much you want to bet they’re just making out?” Roman nudged Virgil with his elbow. The anxious side rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

“I’m not gonna bet you anything, Princey. You’re probably right, but just leave them alone ok? They haven’t really been able to spend any alone time together.” Roman shrugged his shoulders and sat down.

“Phew, I’m tired. Come sit down with me, Virge. We deserve a small break,” the Prince plopped himself down on the couch and patted the spot next to him. Virgil hesitated for a moment but sat down. A new song came on and Roman hummed along, swaying softly and setting his hand on Virgil’s knee. Virgil frowned, wincing at the lyrics. “Oh, no, not this song…”

/If I could begin to be/Half of what you think of me/I could do about anything/I could even learn how to love/

The lyrics hit terribly close to home. The negative, intrusive thoughts in his head got louder. “You’ll never be enough for them. You don’t know how to love anyone, you’ll never be good enough.” He clenched his hands into fists, knuckles white and nails biting into his palms so hard he thought the skin might break. He felt constricted and why was it suddenly so hard to breathe-?

He felt Roman’s hand move away from his knee and touch his shoulder. “Virgil? Hey, what’s wrong?” Roman’s voice was twinged with worry. Virgil shook his head, mumbling “I’m fine, could you just… change the song, please?”

Roman tilted his head to the side, confusion etching his features. “Okay? Sure, here.” He waved his hand and the music stopped. “Should I go get Pat-”

No! No, I’m… I’m fine. I’ll be in my room.” Virgil got up and practically ran up the stairs before Roman had a chance to try and stop him.

Virgil got up to his room and slammed the door. “Stupid song, stupid lyrics, why’d you freak out like that? Roman was actually showing you affection and you ruined it, what’s wrong with you?”

He sighed and laid down on his bed, trying to sort through his racing thoughts. “Why is he so nice? Why does he care about me? Why do they all care about me so much?”

He slipped his headphones on and scrolled through his playlist until he found the song he was looking for. He put it on repeat and closed his eyes, singing along softly.

/I always thought I might be bad/Now I’m sure that it’s true/Cause I think you’re so good/And I’m nothing like you/Look at you go/I just adore you/I wish that I knew/What makes you think I’m so special/

The song always reminded him of his friends, especially Patton. Sweet, caring, loving Patton, who always did his best to include him, to be kind to him. Too bad Virgil didn’t deserve Patton’s warm hugs. Didn’t deserve Roman’s gentle touches. Didn’t deserve Logan’s calm words. He kept singing, trying his best to not let the tears fall.

A knock on his door interrupted the swirl of thoughts he’d gotten trapped in. Virgil sat up and took his headphones off. “Hey, kiddo, can I come in?” Virgil hastily wiped the tears from his eyes and called out, “Yeah, come in.”

Patton opened the door and saw Virgil curled up in his bed, knees pressed against his chest. Virgil wouldn’t meet his eyes but Patton just knew Virgil had been crying. “Hey, can I sit down next to you?” Virgil nodded. The moral side wrapped an arm around the anxious side.

Patton’s heart broke a little to see that his kiddo was so upset. Roman had explained what had happened, and he had to try and fix it. He told Virgil in a kind yet firm voice, “Virgil. You’re not bad.”

The anxious side looked at Patton incredulously. “W-wait. What?” Virgil stammered out, looking into Patton’s eyes.

“You’re not bad. I think you’re perfect and special just the way you are. I know, we know, that you love us. You try your best every day and that’s what’s important. You’re my best friend, Virgil. I love you. We all love you. Logan and Roman and me. You do deserve us, Virgil. I promise.”

“But… Pat, I… I mean…” Virgil stammered, trying to talk but unable to get more than a few words out. Patton gently pulled Virgil into a warm embrace. “I love you, kiddo!” Virgil laughed softly, happiness filling his chest. He returned Patton’s embrace, letting the warmth of the hug relax him. A blush spread across his cheeks. “Love you too, Dad.”

A/N: Hey guys, gals and non-binary pals! I hope you liked this little one-shot. Steven Universe is one of my favorite shows and the music for it is gorgeous. Please re-blog and let me know what you think! Also if you’d like to be added to my taglist let me know; I write Sanders Sides fanfiction and original works on occasion. A Conversation On Emotions

Summary: After Virgil accidentally causes something to go wrong, Patton seeks Virgil out and they both learn a few things about each other.

Warnings: Small mentions of blood, violence, and fire(don’t worry though. It’s pretty much fluff), and some cursing.

Word Count: 1906

Pairings: Platonic Moxiety(can be read as romantic if ya want to)

A/N: I am very glad I was able to get this out so early. But here is some platonic moxiety! Not gonna lie, kinda proud of this one. Thank you to @britbrodcast for providing the prompt you can see right here! The story kinda got away from me but I tried to stay as true to the prompt as I possibly could. Anyway, I won’t keep you waiting any longer. Enjoy!

Also you can read it on AO3 right here!

Irritation. That’s all he felt. The blanket beneath him. Irritatingly rough. The air around him. Irritatingly stuffy. The cat pillow staring back at him. Irritatingly creepy even though he had picked it out himself. He was aware that one of the many effects of a panic attack was an overwhelming feeling of irritation. However, being aware of one’s problems does not necessarily solve the problem in an instant. So, Virgil sat on his bed, irritated by the day’s events and irritated by the lack of control over his anxiety.

I should’ve just stayed in my room. Why did I have to appear in the kitchen? It’s not like a figment of someone’s need to eat. We’re figments. I’m not even real. I’m just a projection of Thomas’ innermost-

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Three soft knocks. Patton. Irritatingly happy.

As much as Virgil enjoyed the presence of the emotional side, his quickened pace of his breathing and enlarged eyeshadow were clear signs that he would not be able to handle any form of social interaction. Although, being the anxious side of Thomas meant that social interaction was not something he could handle everyday anyway.

“Hey kiddo. You in there?”

Yeah-” Shit.

“…I’m coming in. Say something if you don’t want me to.”

Irritatingly bright light poured from the entrance to Virgil’s room. He could make out a silhouette of the cardigan-clad side. Cardigans. Why would someone put a cardigan around their shoulder? Doesn’t it get irritating? How would Patton even cook with a cardigan around him? What if it catches on fire Dowehaveafireextingui-

“-ou alright, buddy?” How did he get so close to my bed?

Hm?

Patton gave him a perplexed look. “I asked if you were alright, kiddo. But, I can tell from your voice that you aren’t feeling like yourself, right?”

Hmph. Irritatingly smart too, huh?

Virgil gave Patton a slight nod.

“Ah shoot. Well, is there…a reason you’re feeling so anxious?”

Well there is…but I don’t really wanna…

“Talk about it?”

Virgil nodded.

“How about I stay here with you for a while. And when you’re feeling more comfortable, we can talk about what’s makin’ you feel so anxious.”

I…guess that’s…fine. One small…request though. Can we just hang out, with out talking?”

Huh. Would ya look at that?

With a smile that could rival the sun, Patton said, “Sure kiddo. Anything ya want.”

And so, both Patton and Virgil shifted closer and embraced the feeling of companionship.

This is nice. That cat is nice. And this blanket. It’s really soft.

Truth be told, despite Patton’s overly cheery disposition, Virgil couldn’t deny the warmth and the constant stability he provided.

“So, Pat.”

“Hm?”

“Why’d you come strolling through my part of the Mindscape?”

“Well, I kinda had a question to ask you but you were obviously not doing so good.”

“Ah well, I am still a bit nervous but not nervous enough for a few questions.”

“Alright, but only if you’re sure.” A quick nod. “Ok, so before I came heading to you room, I went down to the Commons and saw Logan and Roman on the floor-”Oh no“- and they were both shaking. I managed to calm them down and they both told me that they saw you in the kitchen while they were hyperventilating. So I decided to come up here-”Oh fuck“-and ask you…what happened?”

Upon feeling Virgil’s heart rate increase, Patton quickly spouted out, “I’m not angry or anything Virge. I just wanted to know what happened. I know you can’t really control your anxiety but that’s pretty much about it.”

At hearing Patton’s verbal reassurances, Virgil calmed down.

Hm, guess I don’t have to die today.

The Sanders: Chapter 1

Summary: The four sanders meet for the first time

Pairings: Platonic Moxiety towards the end, nothing romantic yet

Warnings: Swearing, sad Patton, slight bullying

<- Prologue || Chapter 2 ->

“Can I sit here with you?” Logan asked

“Um yeah sure” Virgil said as he moved over to make room. Logan sat down and grabbed the book Virgil just finished reading. They sat in silence for a while when suddenly they heard a crash

“PATTON!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE MOVING TO A NEW SCHOOL!!! HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY SPOTLIGHT!!!” said a loud voice

Virgil doesn’t like yelling so he started crawling into the corner. Logan, however, doesn’t like it when people are bullied so he ran to where the yelling was coming from. Virgil realized Logan was moving and, not wanting to be alone, ran after him. As they came to the place when the crash came from, they saw a tall, muscular jock picking on one of their doppelgangers. It looked like Patton, the other guy with glasses.

The jock was getting closer to Patton. Patton looked like he was about to cry as he backed up into a bookshelf. A red blur tackled the jock. Virgil looked over at the librarian and it looked like they were turning a blind eye. Suddenly the red blur stood up. It was the last doppelganger. He looked at the other three and suddenly grabbed all of them and ran away from the library.

“WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?!?!?! THAT WAS SO FUCKING STUPID!!!!” Virgil continued screaming at their kidnapper while Logan tried to comfort a crying Patton.

“This was all my fault. You guys should just leave me alone.” Patton said in between sniffles. Virgil heard this and turned around suddenly “HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!!!! THIS IS NOT YOUR FUCKING FAULT!!!”

“VIRGIL! Calm down. Please. You’re scaring Patton,” Logan stated. Everyone looked over at Patton who was curled up in a ball. Virgil ran over and took over comforting Patton. Logan went to talk to Roman.

“Why did you take all of us? Why not just Patton who was actually in danger?” Logan asked Roman. “Well you see my dear comrade, we all look alike and have the same last name. I wanted some answers!” Roman explained.

“We are all just as confused as you. As far as I know I don’t have any siblings or cousins. My parents didn’t have any siblings either.” Virgil stated. He went back to comforting Patton.

After Patton had calmed down a bit Virgil started asking some questions “Why was that jock bullying you?”

“Well, um… we were best friends in middle school and then something happened between us, I don’t really remember and now he hates me,” Patton said through sniffles. Virgil looked like he was about to kill a man. He stood up and was walking to the door when the bell rang. He looked disappointed and relieved at the same time. They all left to go to class.

Virgil was sitting on his bed scrolling through tumblr and listening to his 666 song playlist. Like, like, like, reblog, like, like and reblog. His phone started ringing as he was reading a fanfic. He dropped it he was so surprised. No one ever called or texted him. He never had any friends. He picked up his phone and realized it was a number he didn’t recognize. He turned off his phone knowing it was just some salesperson. No one ever wanted to be friends with the strange emo kid. He was about to cry himself to sleep when he heard his text tone. Someone’s texting him? That doesn’t happen. He looked at his phone and saw the number that called him. He opened up his phone.

728-8667: Hello! Is this Virgil?

Virgil: Yeah, who is this?

728-8667: Oh! This is Patton from school!

Virgil: Oh. Why are you texting me?

Patton: I just wanted to say thank you for comforting me kiddo!

Virgil: Oh yeah. You’re welcome.

Patton: I was also wondering where you live.

Virgil: Um… I live off of Cole rd

Patton: GASP! I DO TOO

Virgil cringed a bit at the text. He doesn’t like yelling, even if it’s through text.

Patton: Anyway I was wondering because I wanted to walk to school with you.

Virgil: Oh yeah, that’d be cool

Patton: YAY!!!

Virgil fell asleep with a smile on his face for once in his life.

The next morning Virgil and Patton walked to school together. For most of the walk they were in awkward silence but as they were getting closer to school they started talking some more. When they did get to school they said goodbye to each other as they walked to their lockers. After they dropped off their stuff at their lockers, they met in front of first period. They sat down next to each other and waited for the period to start.

Title: Hot Chocolate

Summary: “You’re on fire, literally. Your shirt is on fire.”

Pairings: platonic moxiety

Words: 276

Warnings: Candy-rotting fluff

Thank you for sending this in, I loved writing this!

You’re on fire, literally. Your shirt is on fire.”Virgil said, trying to keep the hysteria from his voice.

“Hmm?” Patton looked down, “Oh!Opps, I guess your dad is just on fire today!”

Patton chuckled weakly, frozento the spot. Seeing that Patton was too terrified to move, Virgil made a grabfor the fire extinguisher kept in the cabinet for such occasions and hosedPatton down with it.

“Are you okay?!” Virgil called out.

“Yeah, I think you did thetrick, kiddo!” Patton coughed.

“I’m—I’m sorry,” Virgilmurmured, “I went a little overboard, didn’t I?”

“It’s alright, Virgil.” Pattonreassured him.

“How did you even get your shirton fire?” Virgil questioned.

“I guess I must’ve leaned in tooclose to the burners and it caught on fire,” Patton sheepishly scratched theback of his head.

A burnt smell started emanatingfrom the pot, catching the two’s attention.

“Oh no!” Patton rushed over tothe pot, “The chocolate!”

Virgil viewed over his shoulderto see charred blackened lumps in the chocolate.

“You were making chocolate?”

“No, I was melting chocolate,”Patton clarified, “I was going to surprise you with some hot chocolate, butthen you came down and I got distracted and well…”

“It’s okay, Pat,” Virgil said, grinning, “Iknow where some of those crappy instant hot chocolate packets are hidden in thecupboards.”

Together, they sat on the couch,a tangled mess of blankets and limbs, watching Winnie the Pooh while drinking fromtheir hot chocolate mugs. It tasted like hot water with the faintest hint ofchocolate, but it didn’t matter. It tasted infinitely better in the presence ofone another.

Patton has always had a spare key to his boyfriend’s apartment. They all had each other’s keys to their places. It was his idea after Roman almost broke his hand trying to break into Logan’s house. And he painted them too so they looked all nice and pretty and he didn’t get confused.

Patton took out Virgil’s key—painted dark purple with two silver lightning bolts meeting to make a V—and opened up the other’s door. Instantly his ears heard the faint tone of music and his nose felt the essence of lavender that he loved so much. Pat quickened his pace to Virgil’s room. He only put on the lavender when he was really stressed.

Two knocks, one second pause, one more knock. “Virgil?” Patton spoke softly, his ear pressed against the door.

“Come in.” The soft reply came not a moment later. It sounded muffled, and after Patton slowly opened the door he saw way. Virgil had engulfed himself in blankets like a burrito. The music blared at full force to counteract the AC blowing at full volume. Patton shivered as he walked to the edge of the bed, taking his time with slow and welcoming movements.

“Do you want to come outside?” He asked. “Logan and Roman are waiting outside to start firing off the fireworks.”

“No, I’ll stay in here. Thanks.” Virgil paused, before explaining himself further. “I don’t like fireworks. They’re too loud and …”

“Sensory overload?” Patton asked, and Virgil simply nodded. Patton lay down next to Virgil, shooting a quick text to Ro and Lo to start without them. “I’ve got you.”

“You don’t have to.” Virgil protested as Patton brought him closer to his chest. He felt warm in his boyfriend’s embrace and found himself quickly digging into his chest as bright lights and deafening booms filled the air.

“But I want to.” Patton whispered as he began to run his hand through Virgil’s hair. He pressed a quick kiss on his forehead as a particular rapid shooting of fireworks made Virgil fold even more.

“What did I do to deserve you?” He asked. Patton giggled, making Virgil crack a smile for the first time that day.

“You are you. Isn’t that reason enough?”

Hugs and Cookies

Summary: Patton cheers up an anxious Virgil.

Word count: 764

Pairings: Platonic Moxiety (could be romantic if you want though).

Notes: this is literally the first fic I’ve ever written, so I hope you enjoy!! I’m working on getting an AO3 account, so as soon as that happens I’ll add a link to it there.

——————————————————-

Virgil burst in through the door of his room. His breath was coming faster and faster, and his heart felt like it was being squeezed. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he curled up on his purple-sheeted bed in the corner, keeping his back to the door.

Virgil didn’t like to admit it, but arguing with the other sides took a lot out of him. He hated it, but after almost every video he found himself hiding in his room on the verge of an anxiety attack. No one seemed to notice when he disappeared after arguments. Most of the time Virgil was ok with that, but right now all he wanted was a hug and some cookies.

Just as his breath was starting to slow a little but, and his heart felt a little more… normal, he heard a knock on his door.

“Hey kiddo!”

Shit. It was Patton. Virgil couldn’t decide whether that was who he wanted to see most in the world, or least.

“Go away,” he muttered, head still jammed into his pillow.

“You ok? I noticed you disappeared after you sank out.” The door clicked open, and Virgil cursed himself silently for not locking it as he came in. “Do you want some cookies? I made some!”

Virgil felt a sob rising in his throat. No no no. He was not going to cry in front of Patton. Absolutely not.

No matter how much he told himself he wasn’t going to cry, a tear dropped unto his pillow, and he choked on a sob.

Patton’s voice immediately got softer, and the bed sank down a little as Patton perched on the edge of it.

“Kiddo… what’s the matter?”

Virgil just shook his head, knowing that if he opened his mouth he would start crying for real, and that was not going to happen. Not in a million years.

“How about I go get you some of those cookies. I’ll be right back, ok?” Virgil nodded, and he felt Patton stand up. A few seconds later the door clicked shut, and Virgil was alone with his thoughts once again.

He quickly wiped the tears off his face using the corned of his sheet, and flipped his pillow over so the tear stains wouldn’t show. Hopefully that would be enough to fool Patton, but he knew that Patton already knew he was upset.

Just then, the door opened again, and Patton appeared holding a plate of warm cookies, a glass of milk, and a box of tissues. The tissues were precariously balanced on top of the cookies, and, based on the way Patton almost fell as he entered the room, Virgil was pretty sure he had turned the doorknob with his foot.

“Hey kiddo! I’m back!” Patton said cheerfully. “You feeling any better?” Virgil nodded, still fearful of what would happen if he started talking. The immediate threat of crying was gone, but he was pretty sure his voice would break if he tried to talk.

Patton kicked the door closed behind him, and it slammed shut, making both sides jump. Patton set everything down on the bedside table, dropping the tissue box and knocking down Virgil’s headphones in the process. Virgil was pretty sure Patton was intentionally being clumsy to try and cheer him up, and as much as he hated the thought, it was definitely working. He even felt his lips tuck up in a small smile.

Patton had sat down on the edge of the bed, and handed Virgil a cookie. Virgil took a bite, and as he suspected, the cookie was amazing. It was literally the perfect cookie.

“Do you like it?” Patton, to Virgil’s surprise, almost looked a little nervous.

“Do I like it? Patton, it’s the most amazing cookie I’ve ever had.” Virgil surprised even himself with how sincere - and happy - he sounded.

“Aww, really?” Patton clapped his hands and grinned. Virgil took another bite out of his cookie and grinned at the other side.

“Thank you, Patton,” Virgil said as soon as he had finished chewing. “You really have cheered me up today. And… well… I almost feel like I have a friend.” He looked down, embarrassed about the confession.

“Aww, kiddo! Of course I’m your friend!” Virgil couldn’t help it, he felt a huge smile spread across his face. Before he knew what was happening, Patton had flung his arms around Virgil, who awkwardly hugged him back, grinning all the while. After all, he had gotten exactly what he wanted: hugs and cookies. Plus, he even got a friend in the process.

Embarrassing Past

Summary: Patton is having a hard time when Thomas throws away some of his old things, and Virgil has to figure out a way to cheer him up.

Warnings: None, I don’t think.

Pairings: Moxiety (could be read platonic or romantic, I think)

Words: Exactly 500!

[N]othing in the world upsets Patton more than when Thomas throws something out from his childhood or gives it to charity. [E]very shrunken shirt and broken board game that gets tossed into a donation bin only serves to solidify his fear that one day he will disappear as well.

[V]irgil does what he can at first to comfort his best friend whenever this happens, but as these breakdowns become more frequent he finds himself becoming exasperated by Patton’s unwillingness to face reality. [E]ven though he, too, feels uneasy in the wake of change, he just cannot relate to Patton’s extreme attachment to literally every part of Thomas’ past.

[R]egardless of how hard Virgil tries to hide his disagreement, Patton can still see it, and is particularly wounded by his best friend’s betrayal. [G]ranted, Virgil does at least try to put his feelings aside, but to Patton, that effort is not enough considering the fact that he still ultimately doesn’t understand.

[O]ne day, Thomas finally gets around to throwing away some of his old journals, just like Virgil always wanted, and the latter cannot contain his relief. [N]eedless to say, Patton loses it. [N]ow certain that the others secretly want him gone, Patton locks himself in his room. [A] concerned Virgil tries to coax him out, but Patton yells through the door that clearly the best solution for everyone is to get rid of him altogether so they won’t have to deal with his silly antics anymore–especially when the others never participated in said antics anyway.

[G]uilt and worry eat at Virgil as he stands in front of the closed door and realizes that Patton does have a point regarding that second part. [I]t occurs to him that if he really wants to prove to Patton that his fears are unfounded, he will have to let go of his own pride a bit.

[V]irgil returns to his room and starts pacing, trying to figure out how he can both explain to Patton that the latter matters and prove that he’s not afraid to be silly. [E]ventually, while digging through some of Thomas’ old CDs, he comes across something that gives him the perfect idea. [Y]es, if he implements it correctly then Roman will probably never let him live it down, but Virgil is willing to take that risk to help his best friend.

[O]nce his plan is fully thought out, Virgil returns to Patton’s room and announces that he has something to tell him. [U]nderstandably skeptical, Patton lets his best friend inside, half-afraid that the conversation will end with Virgil telling him to get out of the Mind Palace.

[U]ntil Virgil turns up his phone, and begins lip-syncing and dancing as the musical offerings of Rick Astley fill the room.

[P]atton breaks out grinning upon realizing what has just happened and tackles his best friend into a hug, now certain that while Thomas may throw away some things from his past, Patton himself will never be given up.

Dark Blue Sky Fanfic

Title: Dark Blue Sky Warnings: Heavy talk of suicide/suicidal thoughts, death mentions, hurt/comfort Summary:  “Do you remember how dark the sky was that night we met? It wasn’t a black void, no. It was a dark blue sky, with the stars and the moon painted across its’ canvas. I hated that sky. I hated how those lights shone brightly on me with their mocking gazes. I wanted the sky to reflect my soul. I wanted it to be a raging thunderstorm.” Pairings: platonic moxiety Words: 1032

What was supposed to be a fake fic summary turned into an one-shot. This one-shot is basically Virgil addressing Patton in first person POV. Please mind the warnings, friends! <3

Do you remember how dark the sky was that night we met? It wasn’t a black void, no. It was a dark blue sky, with the stars and the moon painted across its’ canvas. I hated that sky. I hated how those lights shone brightly on me with their mocking gazes. I wanted the sky to reflect my soul. I wanted it to be a raging thunderstorm.

I stood on that bridge, the very same bridge that was my parents’ demise when their car swerved off into the river below. I was prepared to join them. That’s when you appeared.

For a moment, I thought you were an angel because of how brightly you shone under the moon’s rays. You climbed over the railing to stand next to me, as if it was the most causal thing to do in the world.

I think that’s what kept me from jumping initially. I was afraid if I did, you’d try to follow after me in an attempt to save me. I couldn’t do that without a guilty conscience. The whole point of it all was that there was no one left that cared about my existence.

No one in my family had wanted to take me in after my parents died, abandoning me to the foster care system. After moving from foster home to foster home, I had no friends. I had no one. Or at least, until you showed up.

I expected you to start lecturing about how stupid it was for me to throw away my life. You didn’t do that. Instead, you opened up your mouth, and you started rambling about how much you liked cats. I just stood there, stunned, as I listened to you. That was the last thing I expected out of your mouth.  You asked me if I liked cats as well, and it took me a moment to respond.

I told you about the time I hid a kitten in my room from my parents for three days and you laughed, saying you had done the same when you were little. Your parents figured it out after noticing you kept sneezing more frequently after spending extended periods in your room.
