Welcome new followers! ❤️

Hi, I'm elveny aka Julie, I'm a bisexual woman, a mom, fanfiction writer and sometimes artist 😊 I co-mod Junelezen.

I take prompts - though I cannot promise I'll always answer quickly, apologies in advance - and you can find my fics here on Tumblr under the tag #elveny writes and on AO3. Apart from that, I'm an avid reader, a cat mom, a spiritual wanderer, plant lover and still trying to find my place in life. The usual ;)

Other personalized tags are #elveny draws for art, #elveny answers for, well, answered asks, and #elveny rambles for random and/or personal stuff.

I dabble in different fandoms, so you'll find various stuff on my blog. Foremost among them are roleplaying games; from Dragon Age to Mass Effect to FFXIV to DND to (currently) BG3. You can find my OCs here: My OCs.

My "big" stories:

FFXIV

Dragon Age

I recently had surgery, and at the time I came home, I had both my cat and one of my grandma's cats staying with me.

- Within hours of surgery, I wake up from a nap to my cat gently sniffing at my incisions with great alarm.

- I was not allowed to shower the first day after surgery, and the cats, seeing that The Large Cat is not observing its cleaning ritual, decided I must be gravely disabled and compensated by licking all the exposed skin on my arms, face, and legs.

- I currently have to sleep with a pillow over my abdomen because my cat insists on climbing on top of me and covering my incisions with her body while I sleep (which is very sweet but not exactly comfortable without the pillow). She also lays across me facing my bedroom door, presumably on guard for attackers who may try to harm me while I'm sleeping and injured.

That's love. 🐈‍⬛🐈❤️

cats are so very unclear on what is wrong with us but they want to help

Last time I had a really bad migraine my cat curled herself round my head and purred sympathetically, and actually stayed there through two of her normal mealtimes. It wasn't until I was able to stagger to the kitchen and grab a protein bar for myself that she gave a very small, polite miaow to the effect of "while you're up... could you get something for me too?"

Purring apparently has healing qualities, so your cat lying purring upon the hurt(ing) body parts is them actively looking out for you and *trying to heal you*.

Did a bunch of dogs breakup a fight between two cats? Am I seeing this right??

Having none of that shit today.

“Ay man, y’all chill the fuck out. Y’all fucking up the party.”

I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT I’M SEEING

Pack animals like dogs don’t tolerate dissent in their group because it weakens the pack’s social structure… There are similar clips on youtube of them breaking up rabbit and rooster fights… They don’t care what species you are, they just want you to CUT THAT SHIT OUT.

They don’t differentiate species because dogs think everything else is just a weird dog.

A WEIRD DOG

I’ve actually watched dogs break up fistfights between humans by physically dragging the combatants apart dogs don’t take no shit from anyone

I know I'm reblogging this again but I have to add my own two sense on the matter. Most other auto manufacturers have had the stuck accelerator problem in the past due to floor mats and they have all learned a very important lesson: if BOTH accelerator and break are all the way down, apply the breaks and cut the throttle.

And even then they also have it so mashing the start/stop button or pressing and holding it kills the car

From that one report of the cyber truck crashing even when the brake was pressed, it seems like Tesla has not done their research and may not even have a contingency in the code for this. So it's a hardware AND software problem

From what I understand, it's not so much a design flaw as a production flaw; they made a change in manufacturing. They used a different chemical for something at some stage and that's what caused the pedal cover to slip off.

This was a failure of process.

I assure you, every major manufacturer in the world is either in the process of examining their processes to make sure that this particular issue isn't going to affect them, or has already done so. (I'm willing to bet that, in most cases, the investigation consisted of confirming that they don't use the chemical in question, along with some kind of "...because we're not idiots" notation in corporatese.)

What a lot of people don't appreciate is that corporate bureaucracy exists for a reason. Bureaucracy is the corporate equivalent of legislation-- every layer of it was born in red ink. As someone who has managed software deployments in production environment on systems used by millions of people each day, let me tell you, every step in that process is necessary. Oh, sure, it might seem like a lot of rigamarole for a minor change, but the problem is that people are notoriously bad at judging what a minor change is. I have personally been frustrated by a two-hour process (preceded by a week of paperwork, meetings, and approvals) to make a change in production that I knew full well would have no impact that, in actuality, took seven seconds and didn't require the traffic routing, load testing, etc. And I was right, it went without a hitch. Then two days later I spent fourteen hours on a call where half the system was down and it turned out that someone made a very similar change, and didn't say anything the entire time because he honestly didn't see how what he did caused what happened. "It shouldn't have affected anything!" If he'd followed process, there would have been no impact at all.

These tech bros think that they can revolutionize an industry by "streamlining the process" when they don't understand that the existing processes are the streamline. Sure, if they'd taken a week to test the impact of the change in process, it would have cost them a week, but it's gonna take more than a week to collect the information necessary to find out how much money this cost them. It's not just the cost of the recall and repair, it's the immediate impact this is going to have on sales, the long-term impact on consumer confidence in the brand, and, of course, a stock chart that looks like this:

That is a bad chart. And it's not going to get better.

Oh, look.

i'm genuinely having a moment over DA fandom losing that 'most annoying' poll. in what world does the DA fandom lose to 911. have people forgotten??? the 2014-2016/2017? the anders discourse???? mages vs templars literal essay arguments? solasmancers (I say, as a solas romancer)? the cullen discourse alone could power half a city. the racism??? ISABELA? SERA? VIVIENNE????

the DA fandom is a nightmare of truly unrivaled proportions. like star wars is worse but that's NOT a high bar. 911 doesn't even come close. i saw someone call it coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb which is an apt comparison. holy shit. people have very different tumblr experiences to me if none of the DA stuff ever cropped up. like you could not visit the tags. i was there. the tags were a no-man's zone. you found a few treasured blogs and kept your head down and reblogged gifs with :) in the tags and even then that was like lifting your head above the trench line and risking a sniper spotting you

the 911 fandom is just an ordinary annoying fandom with a large m/m ship. that's it. i was born and raised on destiel. that's literally nothing. it doesn't even register. if you have no stake in this poll go vote dragon age for me because I'm having heart palpitations.

*SIGHS*

Another AO3 app that's pretending to be official when it's not (or at least isn't making it clear its unofficial.) They're using AO3's name and logo, and embedding ads.

There is no official AO3 app

Someone else is gathering your data, potentially your log in information etc and making use of it how they please. (They say they're not but their privacy policy says otherwise)

They are making money from the ads without the fic writer's consent.

They've also rated it Pegi 3 (which is ludicrous)

Please, even if you care about nothing else, for the safety of your data, please don't use this app. Certainly don't give it your AO3 log in details.

I've told AO3 that it's infringing on its copyright. I will be requesting they remove access of my work as I do not consent to my creative content being used to generate ad revenue for them.

I will be reporting it as incorrectly rated.

The only email address I can find is Narusta@gmail.com which is included in their privacy policy, and boboxway13@gmail.com as their developer.
