so im super ready for tow, even though its coming out probably mid to late 2019, but here are my thoughts on what ill do with this boy and this blog

  • I can’t NOT make atom into my protag for that game. he’s absolutely perfect for it. (i mean i dont know for certain whether or not because its not out but You Know)
  • however, I don’t like going into a game with a set idea for a protagonist. I prefer to build them as the game goes on, have the events influence their personality and themes. That’s one thing i love about atom; how he fits snugly into his role as courier. AUs that take him away from that setting, as nice as they are, end up losing whole chunks of what makes him Atom.
  • So, if i put amnesiac Atom, blank canvas that he is (although, he isnt really,) into the role of TOW main character, and allow him to grow into that role, he will become a completely different person than New Vegas Atom. Not an AU, a different character under the same name.
  • If i end up doing that ^ i’ll make a new blog for TOW Atom.

“Why Don’t You Do Right?” is a song broadcast on Radio New Vegas in Fallout: New Vegas and in the Mysterious broadcast radio station in Old World Blues. The song was written by Kansas Joe McCoy in 1936.

The version used in the game was recorded by Peggy Lee and the Dave Barbour Quintet, with her then-husband Dave Barbour on guitar, circa 1950.

Curious question and apologies if it has been stated before, but did Atom use the atomic bombs at the Divide to cut off both the Legion and the NCR? Also, what would have happened to either group after he took over Vegas?

oh boy thank you sm for the ask!

Atom debated using no bombs, and also using them against both NCR and Legion, but ended up using them only against the legion. The second battle of hoover dam was coming up, and he didn’t want to risk the NCR learning he’d bombed them, losing their support before the critical moment.

It was at the second battle that Atom betrayed the NCR. Until the moment he threw their general over the dam, he had appeared to be their ally. The whole time, however, he had been using them for firepower (to push back the Legion) until his securitron army could arrive.

When this was revealed, Atom made a declaration. The NCR was not welcome on New Vegas, nor did they have any ownership over the Mojave. Effective immediately: Their laws had no power, and their declarations had no meaning. All property and personnel had 6 months to be moved out of the Mojave until they would be confiscated or imprisoned and shipped to California, respectively.

During this time, production began of several new models of Securitron. Most importantly: a nonlethal model meant to patrol New Vegas and surrounding roads and cities. Meanwhile, the now upgraded lethal models were slowly fazed out until a sizable force of them could be mobilized against the Legion.

Their mission would be to force the Legion out of the Mojave, and as far southeast as was possible. To destroy as much of their army, and save as many slaves, as they could.

(This is when Atom decides he needs to create AI to run the securitrons in his stead. He makes one and copy/pastes it to make three. Code named Red, Yellow, and Blue, designed to oversee the Army, Police force, and Big MT respectively.)

so in this simester at college im taking a bookbinding class, and this project we're finishing up now is themed as 'alternate retellings' and i decided to do a short story about Atom being narrated by both Ivan and Cal. (I renamed III/Three. He's Cal now. Because Callahan.) and they get into an argument. I showed it to a friend and apparently it's pretty funny.

Anyway i've had to simplify some stuff in Atom's story, and also cut out some names just because I don't want this project to be official fallout fanfiction. And also, at the same time, have had to overexplain some stuff because my audiance doesn't know the source material. Despite all of this i'm still going to post it for y'all once im done. Stay tuned.

ALSO ALSO here is my good boy Cassiopeia Warren

What to Know:

  • Learned early on that people are less likely to dislike you/be mean to you if you’re nice to everyone, so he tried to become That Nice Guy but it backfired and by the time Reclamation Day rolled around, he was the vault doormat.
  • Has heavy interest in anything sci-fi or space related. He reads the books, watches the movies, builds telescopes, copies down star charts, everything. During his time in the vault, these things were what made him happy, but, being the vault doormat, and too hesitant to talk about his interests, people rarely indulged him in conversation about any of it.
  • Upon leaving the vault, and seeing the night sky for the first time, he realized that he did not need validation from other vaulties to feel happiness anymore. The stars are all he needs.
  • The flip side of that is that now he feels free to annoy or terrorize other vaulties, especially those that walked all over him back in the vault. He’s much more likely to be violent during the day, though, so take care.
