Asriel displayed four figments in Rift 1, assuming they'd be enough to persuade Chara. Now him revealing another trick at the end of Rift 5 suggests he had a surprse backup plan. But if the next figment is the 'last' he's planned before showing his new world, why he didn't show all five at the very start? Also if he only had ever had five planned from the get go, why why there are already six TVs in the big room?

Symmetry and rule of cool.

I'm pretty sure you said the next figment of asriel would be the last one right?

So is asriel intending it to be the last one, or does he think he can just keep trying new ones over and over again?

Asriel said the next area is the last one he's prepared for them before he unveils his new world. But do recall that the promo art for Rift has one more unaccounted for. Curious, is it not?

This is not really an ask and is more just generic fan-mail. It might even be a bit trite, but I just couldn't hold this in. I have to express how much I enjoyed Inverted Fate! I only just learned about it for the first time last month, and it has been so much fun catching up on the series all the way up to its current point! The sprites, the music, the games, the videos, the secrets page, the overall story, everything was so well done! (To the point I could see myself revisiting it all in future and binging it all over again lol)

Experiencing everything blind starting from Chapter 1 on the website and working my way through was a far more interesting roller-coaster than I had ever imagined.

I know I'm just a random anonymous voice on the internet, nobody of importance. I'm sure you've probably heard this kind of thing hundreds of times from many other people, but I don't think praise can ever be said enough. This series is awesome! It's easily one of the best UT fan works I've had the pleasure of seeing, and I can't wait to see what you choose to do with the series in the future! (Rift has been especially interesting so far!)

Best Regards

Random Tumblr Passerby

Thanks for the kind words! :) I'm very happy you enjoyed it and hope you continue to enjoy when we finally come off hiatus.

What made you decide to add our number 1 rated salesman Spamton to Inverted Fate? He's fun to have around don't get me wrong, but does that mean any other Darkners will be "adapted" to IF in some form before it ends?

No, just Spamton. We had ideas for him that worked, some of which were alterations of earlier concepts, like Spout trying to make a money-eating robot. So there won't be a robot Jevil or anything like that. Spamton really was just a culmination of ideas that worked here.

Hey are we as the audience considered Canon in the au? Flowey/Asriel seems acknowledge our existence.

That's just an easter egg in the playable versions of the fights and in the disclaimers and shouldn't be taken as canon.

When does IF comes back

Please be patient. We'll announce when the time comes. Right now, there is no ETA. Rift Part 7 isn't even done yet.

Are the interactions with GASTOS canon in any way? (Not that we the viewers are messing with it, but rather that someone in the IF universe stumbled across a computer and is going through these files) I know the stories housed within are canon, but is somebody actually soaking up all this info from these files? (Someone like Flowey perhaps?)

Nah, the GASTOS is more a device for the readers' benefit to see these side stories and materials outside the main plot. It's something beyond time and space (hence GASTOS).

I REALLY, and I mean REALLY! Miss IF, it’s my favourite AU!

I know you said that the next chapters will be published this year, but I really wanna know when is the next chapter dropping?

I know that it takes time and it’ll be worth it, but I am just very inpatient XD

I really don't know, sorry. Rift Part 7 isn't even done at this time, so I can't guarantee a release date on anything at this time. I did produce more assets recently, but beyond that, I don't wanna pressure anyone to rush it.

What happens once Inverted Fate is complete? Will the official website stay up indefinitely? Would there be any plans to make a fangame out of the whole thing at that point? (Though that would be a monumental task lmao. I'd settle for just a playable copy of the current website in exe form for archival purposes)

I know Nisha's talked about making a downloadable version similar to that one Homestuck project, though I don't know how soon such a thing would be feasible. We'll figure it out when we get there, definitely.

Did the waterfall incident happen in the old timeline as well?

Follow up question, did the six humans behave the same in the old timeline?

The Waterfall Incident was a direct consequence of events within this timeline. Namely, Toriel going against Asgore's war declaration and trying to push the idea of treating humans on a case by case basis. Despite her attempts to ease tensions in the aftermath, not all monsters agreed with her notions of peace and fairness and, as a result, some monsters sought to take matters into their own hands. These monsters were the ones who waited outside the Ruins door and ultimately set things into motion. The differences with the six humans ultimately are down to circumstance and would still be the same people in both timelines, even if their lives diverged.

Is there any lore that hasn’t been shared by you or shown in inverted fate that won’t be touched upon that you’d like to share? Sorry if the question is a little confusing.

Avatar

Nah, you're good! A lot of our extra lore tends to go on Secret Pages. There's quite a backlog that still need uploading, but Nisha and I have kinda been busy.

what prompted you to start making the mutual crush subtext in Chara and Frisk's relationship less "one possible interpretation" and more "explicitly the intended interpretation"? don't get me wrong it's a very cute part of the story that's pretty fun to watch unfold and an interesting way to characterize their dynamic, but i'm genuinely curious as to what specifically made you decide to make them be mutually crushing on eachother over the more common interpretation of them as siblings

To be honest, I just never saw them as siblings in IF and found it frustrating how people treated the siblings interpretation as hard canon when it's just one possible reading. Some people treat that interpretation's popularity as a reason to bully others for having other readings of the characters, but I just think it's important to be kind, 'cause I feel like interpreting Frisk's relationship w/ the goatfam as something else is VERY different from, say, misgendering them, since how Frisk views Toriel and the others is up to player choice. I didn't actually go into IF with any particular ships in mind, but it just kinda developed in that direction, I really liked the dynamic they shared, and it just... materialized the same way IF Papyton did despite me not having strong feelings on the ship one way or the other usually. That's not to say I have anything against the siblings interpretation, and I know that some people aren't comfortable with Charisk because they prefer them as siblings. I absolutely get that, and tbh it probably doesn't help that early IF had the dubious dad stuff with Asgore. While in later chapters, Frisk realizes they barely got to know Asgore and were too impulsive and Asgore shares a similar realization, it probably doesn't help in terms of setting expectations, and that's why for the updated playable version of the Asgore fight, we made some dialogue updates/additions to help better lead into things. I need to poke Phi about getting that uploaded and recorded, 'cause while we don't have any new Rift videos ready, I think a video of the canon route for the Asgore fight with the added Flowey and Frisk conversations would at least be something nice to share. The conversation basically involves Flowey and Frisk talking about what Asgore put Frisk through at the end of part 4C, Flowey pointing out how he warned Frisk not to get too attached/get Asgore's hopes up, and just gives a little more of Frisk having conflicted feelings after they spare Asgore as well (since even if they got a happier outcome, he still tricked them into killing him, which is... a lot to put a traumatized child through who already had a close call with Lilac).
