Following the departure of the two chinese members consecutively, Yixing, who is very sentimental, cried many times because of this. It was a difficult period for the whole group. “Hyung, will you leave too?” The other members asked him more than once. “There are a lot of members who are younger than me in the group. I feel that there’s a weight on my body, and also the responsibility to ensure the completeness of this group. I will not leave.” Yixing said with determination.

7pm in the evening on the 8 of April 2015, Zhang Yixing immediately rushed back to the filming set of ‘Oh My God!’ faraway at Badaling after attending EXO’s first fansign in mainland China. Up till 2pm in the afternoon, he was still unsure if he could make it to the fansign to meet his fans. 8 of April is EXO’s 3rd anniversary since debut, and this was an extremely significant day to Yixing. However, due to the tight filming schedule, the director had no intention to let Yixing off for the day. Being in Beijing himself, and the others in Beijing as well, yet not being able to attend the 3rd anniversary event made Yixing feel anxious. Hence, he went to each and every actor to explain the situation. The director sat down for a meeting specially for this, and approved of a few hours off for Yixing.

The moment the fansign ended, Yixing immediate rushed back to the set. He thanked the director and other staff for their understanding. He promised the director to be back by the time he set, not even a moment of delay. Zhang Yixing once said before, the thing he learned the most from his company’s teachers was “The spirit of promise”. This shows in his behaviour towards others, every aspect of his work life, for example his personal studio in mainland China.

In other people’s eyes, SM finally “saw the light” and agreed to set up a personal studio for the chinese member in the group, giving the individual more freedom and decision making power. However, behind all these was a year of perseverance from Zhang Yixing. On the February of 2014, Zhang Yixing had the idea of setting up a personal studio in China for the first time. However at that point of time, this was something that never had and never will happen for the company, so this idea was stranded all along.
