Ask Wendy Darling

@askmisswendydarling / askmisswendydarling.tumblr.com

I was a little girl and I lived in Bloomsbury with two lovely parents, a dog named Nana, our servant Liza, and the three most precious brothers a girl could hope for. Magic took all of that from me. It’s a Potluck AU!

Start preparing your favorite dish, because from Wednesday, September 14th to Wednesday September 21st, we’re having a party! Everyone is back in Storybrooke for one, final AU before the new season starts!

If you’d like to participate in this get-together, be sure to message the main.

And don’t forget to let us know what you’re bringing!

Wendy is going back to Storybrooke! As you can see above, she’s going to be bringing along some tea and scones (actual scones, with clotted cream and home-made jam. Apparently, you guys over in America have some weird cake-scone-kinda-things!)

I’m also going to be bringing Graham back from the dead for this AU over at @askthehuntsmangraham, so if you’re not following him go check him out there! I’m not sure what to have him contribute to the party, though, so if anyone has any suggestions that’d be great!

Don’t forget to mention “AU” somewhere in your asks to do with this, just so it’s clear!

Hi Wendy! How have you adjusted to modern life? I know you've been here a while but I imagine you often still encounter new, cool things! Also, what do you want to be when you grow up? Have these ambitions changed after all you've been through? ily💙

Avatar

Hello! I am indeed still finding new things in the modern age. Why, just yesterday, I discovered that you can summon other foods as well as pizza! I knew about pizza delivery, but apparently you can also order Chinese food in the same manner? So that was exciting. My brothers introduced me to chow mein.

Image

I always used to want to be a mother when I grew up, just like my own. Now, I think that has changed, yes. I’d still love to be a mother, but I think I’d also like to be a writer or maybe a doctor. There are so many possibilities!

Hello Wendy, how are you? So I'm particularly keen to be a straight A student in my last year at secondary school. What is your best tip for studying for A-levels? As well as IB exams? Us English girls have stick together right? Lol Thank you :)

I know you’ll be hearing this a lot, but: revise. Each subject will have a list of key words or equations- or, if you’re doing history, dates- which the exam board will be looking out for. Learn these. I know it helps some of the students in my classes to make “flash cards”, and to look at them when they have a spare moment.

I wish you the best of luck!

Dearest Wendy, I have started school today and this boy (a really cute one) bumped into me while I was walking to my locker. He apologised and looked back at me as he left. Idk but do think maybe he likes me? We have AP Statistics, AP Government & Politics, AP English Literature, and P.E together. He seems rather friendly but quiet, I don't quite know how I could approach him to be honest. Being a shy girl myself it can be difficult to speak to new people. Please help!!! Thank you :) ~hugs~

If you find it difficult talking to new people, perhaps make an effort to get to know this boy a bit better? Before you know it, he won’t be new anymore! I’m not sure how relaxed your school is with seating arrangements, but if you’re able to you could perhaps endeavour to sit near this boy? Not next to him if that would make you uncomfortable (although if you’re feeling brave enough!), but close enough that if he wants to start a conversation with you, he can without shouting. Otherwise, you could always try partnering up with him in P.E.?

Good afternoon Wendy, I hope I'm not disturbing you. I understand that the lost boys can keep you quit busy with mending their socks and whatnot :) I have recently been fascinated with minimalist fashion and I bought this simple, lovely black pleated dress today from Uniqlo. Do you know any good stores that sell the basics? Like black dresses, white t-shirts, skirts, etc? Thank you so much, love. Cheers! :)

Oh, you’re not disturbing me at all! The Lost Ones live an ocean away (literally), although I’ll confess I do sometimes worry that their new mothers might struggle with the more traditional aspects of mothering. Like darning socks. It’s nonsense, I know, I’m sure the boys are very happy in Storybrooke.

With regards to your question: Zara sells the sort of clothing you’re looking for, I believe. As does Everlane. I do hope you’re able to find something you like!

Hey there, just a quick question. Does it bother you to know that you are just a side character? It bugs me every time the creators Adam & Eddie place important characters on the sidelines. It's not okay. Wendy you gotta stick up for yourself girl, don't let those guys brush you off as a minor character. You're not. You're on par with Rumplestilskin, Emma, Snow and any of the other regulars. Show those guys you're the freaking Queen of Neverland! #youaresupergirl

I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I don’t know anyone called Adam, or Eddie. And of course I’m not a side character! I’m a person! We are all the protagonists of our own stories, are we not? To be a side character in the story of my own life would be… very odd.

Queen of Neverland is a rather nice title, though. I doubt Peter would approve, were he alive, but I have always rather fancied being a queen...

Hello darling! I have a list of questions for you, I hope you don't mind :) *what is your favorite color? *what would be your fashion style in modern day London? *what is your favorite genre of music? *how do you normally style your hair? *do you think a simple pair of earrings makes an outfit complete or a dainty necklace instead? *cherry red lipstick or petal pink lipstick? *white dress or black dress? *clean nails or painted nails? *favorite book? *mermaids or fairies? Thanks!

Heavens! Um. Blue! I wear dresses most days, or skirts and blouses. Rap music is quite interesting, but I think pop. Loose, although sometimes I pin back the pieces at the front so that they don’t get in my eyes. Earrings, especially pearls. Petal pink. White. Clean nails, I don’t like the strange heavy feeling you get when the nail varnish has dried. Um, too many to possibly count! And fairies! Fairies are less fond of drowning people while they try to wash their hair.

Hi Wendy! I love your stories and have thought about becoming a writer myself. I hope to be a good as writer as you someday! Do you have any writing tips you can give me? Thank you so much :)

Thank you, dear! I feel so flattered! I think the best tip I can give you is don’t give up! Writing can be very difficult, and sometimes people won’t take you very seriously at all. But anything worth pursuing will be hard. You can do it! I believe in you!

Dear Wendy, I'm going camping in the woods for a week and can't bring my most important face scrub. Do you know any natural face cleaners that I could use? Raw honey is the most ideal face cleanser I have ever used, but alas it will attract hungry beasts like bears. In Neverland how did you keep a clean complexion? Thank you for your help, love. Best Regards, Emma

Dear Emma,

I’m delighted to be able to share my tips with you! In Neverland, most people were rather more concerned with staying alive than much else. But as an English lady, I like to look my best when I can.

Certain types of clay can work wonders. Of course, it’s easier to apply whilst wet. Only leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it away; you do not want it to harden on your face!

I’m not sure where you’re camping, but in Neverland depending on Peter’s mood, there were all kinds of fruit. These can be mashed up and made into brilliant face masks! And if you’re hungry, I found during one particularly fun hunting trip that it’s usually possible to scrape the mask off when you’re done in such a way that you can eat it afterwards. Bananas are brilliant, as are strawberries. Lemon juices are also very good, although I’d steer clear of them if you have any cuts on your face (whether from spears or acne, or whatever else you might get up to) as it does have a tendency to make them sting.

The most important thing to remember in keeping a radiant complexion whilst in the wilderness, however, is to stay clean. If you can find a source of clean water to rinse your face in each day, I can assure you it will work wonders. It’s probably the simplest of ingredients, but indeed the most useful.

I hope I was of some service, and that you have a wonderful time camping!

Yours,

Miss Wendy Darling

Miss Wendy, has it ever crossed your mind that staying in Storybrooke may have been better for you and your brothers? After all, the rest of the world has read the classic tales and does not know about the true nature of the stories. Signed, Evangeline.

Dear Evangeline, It was a pleasure to receive your message. I don’t often get formal correspondences nowadays, so your sign-off reminded me very much of the London I used to know. So thank you.

Image

Staying in Storybrooke did cross my mind, and I do often wonder if it might’ve been the better choice for me. It would be delightful to live in the same town as Baelfire and Henry, and it would certainly make keeping an eye on the Lost Ones and Hook much easier. However, life in Storybrooke seems to invite danger and excitement and, for the moment at least, I think I’ve had my fill of those. If I grow tired of life in London again though, I know Storybrooke is always an option for me.

Yours sincerely,

Wendy
