been thinking a lot lately about how (for lack of a better word) ugly men are allowed to be, and still be seen as natural and human, versus the forced maintenance of femininity required of women to be seen simply as human and worthy of respect. we live in a society that celebrates male mediocrity and demands constant performance from women, and idk it just really makes me wanna scream

Our CHO sent an email suggesting we wear “ a sombrero or other Mexican hat” today. Sent an email to HR and had a meeting with them that resulted in nothing. They said it’ll be a learning experience but they won’t retract the email and for today I’ll have to be the “bigger person and take it with a grain of salt” but it won’t happen next year. I wore this sign to work today, nearly all of the employees I spoke to found the email offensive and appreciated my sign. The CHO himself served me at our employee event and didn’t say anything about it. Bigger person? Not today white devil

I need help on fixing me

Avatar

Wonderful, I can direct you, but a lot is up to you and how much energy you direct towards it.

My basic premise is that you already have the skills to fix yourself.

You are already so intelligent and no one can take that away from you.

You have developed incredible analysis skills to write essays and book reports.   The same skills you use to read, comprehend and then put into practice with science & math, I need to just concentrate on key books, role models & different theories behind what is going on in your personal life.

My second premise is learning how to transform all that pain, frustration, sickness into creative expression.

Now, that creative interpretation can be expressed numerous ways.

For some #LAVENDER sisters it’s painting & writing, but if your talent is poetry & music then release your depression & anxiety through it.
I express it in graphic images & Carrie Bradshaw emagazine style.

TO START - Create a separate #LAVENDER acct to save all the posts that catch your interest or make you mad. Being triggered is good, because that tells us where the healing needs to occur.

Follow the #LAVENDER sisters that are doing exactly what you want

  • Identifying your #LAVENDER role models and then use them as a guide to your new success.
  • And if you send me a message with more specifics –  I’ll give you ideas as to what authors, books, posts, sisters, I think you could start with.

  • President Donald Trump promised Americans that if he were elected president, there would be so much winning “you may get bored with the winning.”
  • Yet exactly two-thirds into his first 100 days as president, Trump has had zero legislative wins from the Republican-controlled Congress — with little hope of achieving a legislative victory in the remaining 37 days. Read more. (3/28/17, 11:21 AM)

AND you WONDER where? YOUR RAPE DREAMS ARE COMING FROM?

On this AXIS I’m trying to define betw conscious & unconscious desires, gender domination & submission.  POWER - rape & sexuality is gender domination.

Men dominated thru rape (Y axis); Women dominate thru seduction (X axis)

WHERE DO YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE?
Are you a non-survivor heavily exposed
to minimizing or glorifying rape culture?
OR are you a survivor
and the memories want to come out?

Although my Spanish is a little weak, I feel that I am Mexican. I feel very proud of my roots. And since I was little we played Tejano music besides English-language music and country. It was something very natural for us.

A LOT OF Y'ALL are doing this work for FREE

THIS WAS THE FUNNIEST THING OF ALL THE SHOW

Do they ever take the mom to task for not teaching her Spanish though ? I mean her mom is there.

There was literally nothing funny about this though?

^^^^ that scene hits me right in the *assimilated* child of an immigrant feels. Cause so many parents don’t teach their kids their native tongues (for various reasons) and it hurts us. Especially when we try to connect with those parts of ourselves but other people delegitimize our identity because of a language barrier we are not responsible for.

And before a grade A piece of Shit decides to chime in with “teach yourself” :

1. learning a new language is incredibly hard especially without assistance.

2. Many of us don’t have easy access to quality language learning resources for our mother tongues.

3. In regards to colonized people, of the easily accessible resources,  most of them are the European versions of the language and not the language of the people. Which means you end up sounding like a stranger.

So yeah, nothing is funny about this at all.

Additional Points:

4. White people are rewarded for learning/speaking more than one language. People of color are ridiculed for that same thing, especially if it impacts any part of their English. A lot of migrant parents think they are protecting us when they don’t teach us our native languages; They think if we only learn English, if we don’t pick up their accent, we might have an easier time in this racist society. Unfortunately, they’re usually right.

5. Learning a new language, especially as an adult, is extremely difficult. Add to that learning disabilities, neuroatypicalities, poverty, lack of resources, lack of time, and it’s nearly impossible.

Emotional labor is often invisible to men because a lot of it happens out of their sight.

Emotional labor is when my friends and I carefully coordinate to make sure that nobody who’s invited to the party has drama with anyone else at the party, and then everyone comes and has a great time and has no idea how much thought went into it.

  • Emotional labor is when I have to cope, again, with the distress I feel at having to clean myself in a dirty bathroom or cook my food in a dirty kitchen because my male roommate didn’t think it was important to clean up his messes.
  • Emotional labor is having to start the 100th conversation with my male roommate about how I need my living space to be cleaner.
  • Emotional labor is reminding my male roommate the next day that he agreed to clean up his mess but still hasn’t.
  • Emotional labor is reassuring him that it’s okay, I’m not mad, I understand that he’s had a very busy stressful week.

Girls fuck the same dick 50 times it doesn’t matter. Girls fuck 50 different dicks and their vagina has stretched into a black hole. Fuckboy logic.

SAY IT LOUDER BECAUSE THIS IS SPOT ON

I reblogged this 4 minutes ago and I’ve already lost 10 followers. Goodbye fuckboys.

  • Two adorable children took the Internet by storm Friday morning when they stumbled into the background of a very serious live BBC interview their father was participating in remotely.
  • In the video, a woman enters just in time, scooping up the kids and shutting the door behind them.
  • Twitter users seem to believe she’s the family nanny, but all signs point to the woman in the video being Kelly’s wife and the mother of his children.
  • Consider this tweet from 2012 where Kelly refers to her as such (Above)
  • Many people suggested that racism against women of color is at work in the assumption that an Asian woman is hired help. Read more (3/10/17 2:29 PM)

A white: but saying Asians are naturally smart is POSITIVE discrimination:)))

Me: The model minority myth was invented by whites as a tool of antiblackness to create divisions between communities of color and prove that ‘anyone can succeed in America if they just TRY hard enough!!1!’ thereby implying that antiblackness is black ppl’s own fault for not TRYING enough. Additionally, it relies on false interpretations of data and hurts the opportunities of all Asians, particularly less privileged ones, and dehumanizes Asians by furthering stereotypes of us as some kind of innately robot-like monolithic-minded hive, devalues our individual accomplishments and uses us as a tool to further antiblackness

i love this post

As a teacher, I can say with certainty that “smart” stereotypes are absolutely not positive for my Asian students. A few things I’ve heard repeatedly:

- Asian student gets the highest grade on a test; other students say, “Well, of course he/she got an A.” Any work the student did is minimized because it’s assumed perfect scores come naturally.

- Asian student is in a class for lower-performing students; other students question aloud whether he/she is really Asian and/or in the right class.

- Asian student gives a wrong answer in an advanced class; other Asian kids say, “You can’t be on our team anymore.” White kids say, “You’re one of us today.” Jokes ensue.

- Teachers complain that Asian students did poorly on district or state tests. Actual quote: “With a name like that, he should have brought up our class average.”

Those are just some of the most common comments, but there are many others. There is no way this stereotype is positive for these kids.

the US is unreal like girls cant wear shorts to school, you can literally lose your job for being gay, and unarmed black children are brutally murdered on the regular but old white ppl r still like “what a beautiful country. i can freely carry a gun for no reason and some of our mountains look like presidents. god bless”

THIS IS LITERALLY IT. THIS IS WHAT ITS LIKE
