A gorgeous commissioned art by @zeearts earlier this month. I am obsessed with the angel wings from #Lucifer, with auroras, rainbows, stars, space and flight and wanted all of that crammed in to this piece, and Zee pulled it all off perfectly. I also wanted to see an angel who is plus-sized. Looks a bit like me but much better put together, and magical :) They are wearing the kind of flared tunic seen on lares familiares (because I love that look and I think it works for all genders - and also because lares were household gods who protected the entire household they were installed in - family and servants and pets alike, rewarded kindness and compassion, and sometimes even worked to guide malicious household members to better behavior. They are almost always depicted in dancer’s poses, which is extra delightful). Sparkly, and reflecting wing and sky colors, because I saw Zee’s fanstastic stardust dress art and desperately wanted some of that gloriousness here, too.
[This is a character who loves to dance and play and is full of love and delight in the world, but is also fierce and fiercely protective. They are at heart sad and very alone, and constantly, terribly aware that kindness and joy and even love won’t always fix terrible things. Or stop terrible from happening. Even so, they will always have love and kindness and joy, and dancing, and the stars, to share with you. They’re a bit battered and worn down from eons of fighting on existential, psychological, emotional AND literal planes. Everything hurts. But that’s because they care, and they decline to ever not care.
There are better and probably more concise ways to say all of this. Boils down to: a flamboyant, bright-spirited, warm-hearted, solitary, galaxy angel
. . . arghhh, I need to work on this description more.
They are shown at a distance instead of close up because I wanted a sense of scope of this angel spreading their wings over a wide swathe of sky, and also because while they’re there for the world, they’re also sort of figuratively distant
(like the angels on Lucifer, may not mean badly, may be full of love and compassion - like Azrael - but are, no matter what their inner psyche is - somehow always on a fairly steep learning curve when it comes to connecting with anyone. And that can be really kinda alienating and off-putting at first)
(OC hasn’t told me their name yet)]
