31.10.2015 // in the city library today. I was elected to be the fundraising co-ordinator for WSCF-Europe when I was in the Czech Republic so I took some time today to go through the role and the organisation in more detail.

real examples of job interview questions from my boss:

three years ago, when I interviewed for my current job, questions came from a long list that my boss had written himself. I found that list recently and trimmed it down to what I believe are the hardest/trickiest questions to answer so that maybe you guys can think on them and be prepared for your next job interview! best of luck!!
  • please describe for me a typical day on your past/current job
  • why did you leave your last job?
  • how do your previous work experiences prepare you for this position?
  • give me an example from your current/past job that demonstrates your persistence.
  • how do you organize yourself for day-to-day activities?
  • when you are assigned to work with new people, how do you go about getting to know them and how they work?
  • what type of person is the hardest for you to get along with?
  • how do you handle conflicts, like with a co-worker or boss? how do you resolve them?
  • how would you define a conductive work atmosphere?
  • what do you want out of a job?
  • what makes a job enjoyable for you?
  • what is your greatest strength? worst deficiency?
  • how do you take direction?
  • what do you do when things are slow at work?
  • what do you do when you’re having trouble solving a problem?
  • what kinds of decisions do you find particularly hard to make?
  • why is it important to prioritize?
  • why do you think you’ll be successful in this job?
  • what are your goals - both short term and long term?
  • how do you cope with the inevitable stresses and pressures of the job?
  • what kinds of things would you want to avoid in future jobs?
  • what reservations do you have about working here?
  • what ways do you find work interferes with your personal life?
  • define cooperation.
  • how can we best reward you for doing a good job?

hi you are such a huge inspiration to me! i love your style of journalling so much. recently you post pictures of your desk and i saw a cute art of a girl at her computer with a cat next to her stuck up on your wall. i was wondering do you know where you got it from? sorry if i make no sense but thank you anyway ❤️

Hi, thank you so much! I got it while randomly scrolling though Pinterest

1. environment

When i’m studying i usually need to create the perfect environment if i really want to get work done. Here’s what i usually do:

  • make my bed: i know it sounds stupid but it helps, i swear
  • tidy everything you don’t really need on your desk: if you don’t need it, it’s just a waste of space
  • find the perfect light: yes, it sounds like a shitty selfie advice, but try studying with natural sunlight, and then study with a yellow-ish neon light. we both know what’s really better.

but where should we study? this is a hard question, but i’ll try and answer.

  • try not to study on your bed: it’s confortable, cozy, warm, soft, beautiful and that’s why you’ll just fall asleep and never study again.
  • on the desk, on a table: it works perfectly because you’re not distracted by anything and you have a large amount of space to use.
  • couch? it depends. if you need to take notes, cram or something like that, i wouldn’t do it. if you just need to practise some quizzes, your choice is free
  • find a nice café or a library if you don’t like studying in your house (my house is always super loud for example)

2. background

i’m not talking about the wall you have behind your desk, i’m talking about music, podcasts and so on.

  • i usually listen to music: (i made a spotify playlist that you can see here) BUT i don’t listen to anything if i am doing maths or latin homeworks
  • i have never listened to any podcasts but i’ve read of people that find it useful so just do what you think it’s better for you (lol)
  • youtube videos: when i am not in the mood for music or i can’t find anything that i like, i’d just create a youtube playlist. i usually put in it videos like “november favorites”, “plan with me”, vlogs or such things.
  • i NEVER study with the tv turned on. i find it very distracting and not helpful at all

3.food

food is great. that’s it.

  • drinks: i’d usually go for a tea, a coffe, a hot chocolate…
  • snacks: i like energy bars(?), i like almonds, peanuts, cereals; but i won’t say no to nutella, chocolate bars, sweets and cookies. just eat what pleases you.

and i’m finished! this is what i usually do to study. and also, remember not to study for, like, two hours straight with no pauses! it’s not useful at all, you just get distracted more, and more, and more. be sure to pause for a little walk, browse your phone or something.

have a nice day

3:11 [productivity] truth be told, nothing makes me productive unless i’m willing to just ‘DO IT’ but some things do get me going(no pun intended)those being books…books in bed…books in coffee shops…books everywhere basically!
