assume for the sake of this poll that the ubi is a comfortable living wage and that you can get a job in any field you’d like.

also if you picked ‘for another reason’ pls put why in the tags/comments im curious :]

I’d take six months off to deal with the trauma of my last couple of jobs.

Then I’d go back, somewhere better.

So the ding dong who runs New Brunswick is big mad because a sex education group did a presentation on HPV at a local high school. The presentation included a PowerPoint slide showing the types of questions that could be asked in an open forum on topics like pornography, anal sex, masturbation, and so on.

Well, the premier decided that it was too far and has banned the group from returning. All this started last year when he overrode a school policy that would respect the gender identity and pronouns of students 15 and under. Now, it’s just sex education in general.

That’s how this works with these conservatives. Create an issue that you think you can get most people on side, like attacking the rights of trans youth, and then broaden the scope to sex ed in general, all under the guise of “parental rights.”

Except with Higgs, it’s not actually working. The school boards are effectively ignoring his edict on the trans youth policy and there’s nothing described in this HPV presentation that suggests anything that hasn’t been taught for decades in school.

He just keeps punching himself in the dick and yelling “parental rights!”

The election is in October.

Beverly Crusher and Jean-Luc Picard killing Vadic was a war crime. What is wrong with the nutrek writers?

What bugs me wasn't even that it was a warcrime, it was that no one in the writers' room apparently *noticed* that it was a warcrime. Just as they didn't notice it when Jack was selling guns to both sides in a civil war or when Worf or Beverly were blithely executing fallen Changelings, or when Worf and Raffi were kidnapping civilians off the street and subjecting them to "enhanced interrogation techniques", or when Worf beheaded Sneed for no justifiable reason, or when Picard and Geordi thought out loud about deleting Lore or when Section 31 was keeping a sentient android unconscious to guard a warehouse. The entire season just assumes an action movie's blasé indifference to violence in a series that's *supposed* to be about interrogating the morality of everything and I hate it.

Commodified fantasy takes no risks: it invents nothing, but imitates and trivializes. It proceeds by depriving the old stories of their intellectual and ethical complexity, turning their truth-telling to sentimental platitude. heroes brandish their swords, lasers, wands, as mechanically as combine harvesters, reaping profits. Profoundly disturbing moral choices are sanitized, made cute, made safe. The passionately conceived ideas of the great story-tellers are copied, stereotyped, reduced to toys, molded in bright-colored plastic, advertised, sold, broken, junked, replaceable, interchangeable.

Filming the opening crawl for Star Wars (1977)

Wait, so they didn't apply the subtitle "EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE" until later releases?

Yeah, "EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE" Was added in a rerelease after Empire Came out.

Yeah it caused great confusion when it came out because until Empire, there was no sense of this being the middle of a continuous saga. It was just a blockbuster, followed by its sequel.

Suddenly we all had to speculate about what episodes 1-3 were with only scraps of info we’d find in Starlog to go by. It was a fun time.

Going to nice and kicking a family out of their home so that I can rebuild the Cajun homeland

My “Beausoleil” brand of traditional cajun escargot has been targeted for boycott as it’s made in factories in the Occupied Riviera

Also we are banning Patois

Finally a place we can dump Roch Voisine--I mean, uh, finally, Roch Voisine will be able to return to his ancestral homeland.
