hey just a heads up/warning for those of you who don’t do well dealing with the heavy subjects or videos portraying violent acts, sandyhook promise has a new gun violence school shooting PSA that is probably going to be going viral and is slated to play on television and in AMC movie theaters and it’s pretty heavy, especially at the end. I know it’s a topic that needs to be discussed but it’s not a video that everyone will be able to watch, so just a warning for those of you that might not be able to handle it.

For when you’re stuck watching like in a theater- When it begins to play, you will see kids talking about their binder or their other school supplies. When you see the boy with the skateboard, stop watching and plug your ears.

I think you should stop watching when you see this person saying “these colorful binders help me stay organized” because pretty much right after that there’s some panic inducing stuff. The entire ad is 67 seconds long.

It’s legit terrifying to watch. It hits you out of nowhere and I know that this is important for people to understand but I have anxiety and this just makes my fear of school shooters worse

new genre concept: soft apocalypse

the world as we know it has ended and mother nature starts taking back what’s hers. there are no zombies or cannibals or murderous bandits. the most valued members of the community are those who know how to garden and farm, sew and weave, treat wounds, work wood or build with bricks, cook from scratch. 

people bond together to begin rebuilding instead of killing each other. everyone teaches each other whatever they do know and works together to figure out the stuff none of them know. books become incredibly valued resources because they’re often the only way to learn critical information. if someone is elderly, disabled, or otherwise unable to work at the same level as most of the community, they’re taken care of by the others, not told any sort of “survival of the fittest” bs.

as the generations ware on, communities begin expanding into small cities. some of the settlements even find ways to repurpose solar or wind power on a small scale and have electricity in some of their buildings. storytellers wander the countryside telling tales of the old world in return for some hot stew or a place to rest for the night, and the mythos of the new world start to incorporate elements of the past. the only thing that remains constant is that humans survive, and they do it by working together.

well uh not much to say here…..other than make sure you’re registered, you look for early voting opportunities in your state, and you exercise your right to vote

Even seemingly supportive Able-Bodied and/or neurotypical friends have a line they consider it not ok to cross. An event that is considered mandatory.

Meanwhile I have to rsvp to engagement parties and weddings and just fucking PRAY I’m ok to attend them. If I decline I’m “not organising my priorities” and if I accept and then can’t go I’m a flake who is considered untrustworthy and, likely, selfish and lazy.

Which always stings because it shows me that these people I’m making choices. I’m not choosing to miss out on parties or social events or make life moments.

Remember that people are TRYING their absolute best and if we say we can’t attend it is really upsetting. There are lots of things we push ourselves through, physically or emotionally, and if we say we can’t it is NOT code for “I don’t want to”.
