You opened the lid of the jewelry box and gently picked up the silver hair comb. You then moved back over towards your best friend, Ji-yoo, and gently pushed the tails of the comb into her perfectly molded bun.
“Thank you so much Y/N,” Ji-yoo smiled as she looked at you through the reflection in the mirror. You set yours hands on her shoulders and leaned towards her so that your cheek was up against hers.
“No need to thank me Ji,” you said. “I can’t believe you and Min Jun are finally tying the knot.”
“Yeah, it only took him six years to propose,” she muttered, making you giggle. You patted her shoulders once before stepping away to grab both of your bouquets. Ji-yoo stepped away from the mirror and met you halfway as you held her bouquet out to her.
“Are you sure you’re alright with him coming today?” Ji-yoo asked and you froze. The ‘him’ that she was referring to was your ex-boyfriend, Taehyung. You two had met a few years ago at a Christmas party that Ji-yoo and Min Jun had thrown. Your relationship had been great, amazing even, but with him being an idol, there was always too little time and too little attention.
“Yeah. It’s completely fine,” you shrugged, looking down and picking at the banding on your bouquet.
“Y/N,” Ji-yoo called and you looked back up at her to see her arching her eyebrow. “It’s ok if you’re not. It hasn’t even been six months since the breakup and-”
“Ji-yoo,” you shook your head, stopping her head. “Today isn’t about me, or Taehyung. It’s about you and Min Jun and that’s all that matters. Ok?” She nodded reluctantly and you slapped an insincere smile on your face to make her feel better.
“Let’s go get you married, yeah?” You grinned and she copied you, nodding excitedly before you both walked out of the room.
………….
The instrumental music began to play, the sound of violins and pianos filling the small room. The double doors in front of you opened and you glanced back at Ji-yoo one last time, giving her a small wink before turning back to face front. You began to step in time to the music as you ambled further into the room. You smiled widely, nodding slightly at the people in the crowd who you recognized as you paced down the aisle.
As you moved closer to the altar, where Min Jun was standing, your breath hitched in your throat once you saw who was standing right next to him. Taehyung, in all of his glory, wearing a brown turtleneck and black suit jacket and matching slacks. Once the two of you locked eyes, he smiled slightly and you had the intense urge to turn away and run back up the aisle. However, since that wasn’t an option, you averted your gaze from his and continued your trek until you reached the altar. Thankfully, your place to stand was on the opposite side of Min Jun and Taehyung.
Watching your best friend walk down the aisle was such a beautiful thing to witness. It probably would’ve been a little bit better though, had you not been able to sense Taehyung’s eyes on you the entire time. Once Ji-yoo had made it to the aisle and intertwined her hands with Min Jun’s, you couldn’t help but to be slightly jealous. When you and Taehyung had been dating, you were almost positive that the two of you would be in this position some day.
While Ji-yoo and Min Jun exchanged vows, you decided to take a chance and look up. When you did, you immediately met Taehyung’s gaze again. Only this time, he wasn’t smiling. It almost looked as if he wanted to…cry? You looked back down once again and didn’t look up until the end of the ceremony.
