🟢 You are still a writer even when you haven't written in a while.

🟢 You are still a writer even when you feel like you aren't writing enough.

🟢 You are still a writer when you feel like your work isn't good.

🟢 You are still a writer when other people don't like your work.

🟢 You are still a writer when you aren't published.

🟢 You are still a writer when you only have works in progress.

🟢 You are still a writer if all you write is fanfiction.

Seeing people reblog this with "I needed this today" in the tags always makes me smile.

You are all amazing writers, and I believe in you <3

To all the fic writers out there that are not currently writing. Either it's because of RL, health, writer's block or something has happened that have disheartened you. Thank you for what you've written, and don't ever feel pressured or stressed - fanfic should be something good for all of us; both reader and writer. You're more important than what you do, but thank you for what you've done!

I NEED YOUR HELP TO SPREAD THIS

This blog in the photo accompaninstuo91 does not have a proper blog. When you click on their blog, an image pops up asking you if you're 18 and if you say yes or no, it directs you to a virus/porn site that isnt on tumblr

The bots are evolving to actively redirect you/ give viruses to you

Please reblog this so you dont fall victim. Do not click follow or try to go onto their blog, instead the only way to report them is to click the little three dots and click report

@staff please stop shit like this

hey. if you’re feeling down about your writing, remember: you made a story from nothing. from your brain. you straight up invented people (aka your ocs), you weaved together plot points and scenes that only you could conjure, you created something. not just something, but something unique to you. something that wasn’t there before. it didn’t occur naturally. you made it, with your own brain and fingers tapping away at a keyboard. that alone is enough to be proud of, man. shit’s cool

A FEW NOTES TO SELF:

Write whatever the fuck you want, you don't have to meet with anyone's expectations if not yours ;

Write whatever you resonate with the most and don't feel pressured to write something you're not fully comfortable with. It's fine to try things out of your comfort zone but it's not okay if you're extremely uncomfortable with writing certain things and if they provoque you a sense of distress;

Followers number and how many notes or reblogs you get say nothing about you, you can be a great writer but have just a few notes. Don't let this dictate your person;

It's great to have feedback but as long as it is constructive critisism, if someone is just being straight-up rude and hateful, block the blog. Don't let shitty people overpower you;

We all write about our favourite characters in different ways, not everyone has to like and enjoy your content and it's completely fine. Everyone enjoys different things, stick to your own thing because you'll definitely find people who enjoy your works;

◦Nobody is pointing a gun at your head, if people pressure you don't listen to them. Take your time and do your own thing, we all have a life outside this app;

◦It's okay to feel unmotivated, don't force your own writing. Again, take your time and motivation will come to you sooner or later;

◦Don’t let the internet “jury” dictate what’s canon or not. We all have our own headcanons and you have the right to share them without people bashing you for them;

◦I noticed lots of people being afraid to post their own things because they are “scared” of getting attacked. I find it so funny how people are pressed about fictional characters. Again, don't be afraid to speak your mind, it's not like these people know you in real life anyways, you’ll most likely never meet them. Don’t let them hold so much power over you;

◦Loving and writing about villains doesn't make you a bad person;

◦The environment of social media can be extremely toxic. I know how difficult it can be to some people to ignore what others say online but we are not in control of what people post. If you see something that doesn’t resonate with you and that's fucking with your mental health please block all of those people who are potentially toxic for your well being;

◦Fiction is fiction, the elements are purely fictitious and made for personal enjoyment. Fiction is great to detach a bit from real life which for some people can be rough. Write whatever makes you feel better and comforts you, whatever makes you smile and cry or just anything you like. Enjoy yourselves and have fun writing your ideas!

I was going to make this as a note to myself only but figured it could be helpful for others too.

You have no idea how I needed this. The reason I hardly write is its so tiring seeing people complain that this character wouldn't do this. Or, I describe something, cause in fics if you can't describe anything what's left, and there's always someone who it doesn't fit. I feel like I can't even mention him caressing her soft skin or loving her hair cause people nitpick. So thanks OP

Tumblr Fanfic Etiquette

A/N: I was not planning on posting this but I've been seeing a lot of hate in multiple fandoms, which prompted me to create this. Hopefully this educates people/newer users and prevents anymore hate from circling. Also please feel free to reblog or add on if you'd like to.

  1. NO hateful messages. That's gotta be number 1. I don't care what you didn't like about the fic. Unfollow the writer or scroll past it. Do not spend your day/night leaving a hateful message because you didn't like X, Y, or Z. Just move on. It's not worth it and at the end of day, solves nothing.
  2. Do not pressure writers to update a series or to write more. We all have a life outside of tumblr and you really don't know who's struggling with their mental health and who's not. -- Instead, opt for encouraging words like. "Hi. Just wanted to say I love your writing and can't wait to read more from you!" This let's them know you love their work without pressure.
  3. If the writer specifically did not ask for it, DO NOT give them constructive criticism on a story or their writing in general. This is very, very rude. And even though your intentions might be pure, it's insulting.
  4. If a writer has posted a standalone fic, please do not pressure them for a sequel. Especially if you didn't even reblog or give them any kind of feedback. Another option would be: "Hi. I really liked [name of fic]. Do you have any plans to turn [name of fic] into a sequel?
  5. Do not befriend a fanfic author just because you think they can get your work more likes/reblogs/feedback, etc. No one likes to be used. This is just really shitty. Befriend people on here because you like them. Not because of what they can do for you.
  6. Likes are nice, but reblogs are better. If you really like the author's writing, share their work or tell them via their ask box/dms how much it meant to you. Takes a second but means a lot.
  7. If a fic author has a warning asking minors to not interact, respect it. Wait until you’re of age or find writers who are minors. Fanfic writers come in all sorts of age groups.
