BOOK SEEKING AUTHOR I’m an unwritten novel, seeking a slightly-strange individual who has a bone to pick with reality. Must be willing to work any hours, including nights and weekends. No breaks guaranteed – I reserve the right to jolt you awake with plot twists, present fresh ideas in the shower, and bother you with questions when you’re on the toilet. Must be willing to undertake countless hours of backbreaking research to write me, even though 95% of the most elusive, nitpicky details will inevitably be cut during the first round of edits. You need not write longhand, though being a collector of pens and/or notebooks will earn points. Reading voraciously an advantage – by the time I’m well underway, you’ll be needing the reminder that finishing a book is actually possible, and not just some mythical feat only achievable by the gods. Why is Jon the only member who even acknowledge the existence of Pretty. Odd.? What happened in Cape Town? Why did Brendon meet Sarah during Pretty. Odd. but not start dating her until after Ryan and Jon split. What could have possibly happened that made 4 best friends pick sides agents each other and then never speak ever again? And why did Spencer side with Brendon instead of Ryan, who he’s been best friends with since they were 5? What happened that summer that was so important they’re still writing about it in their music? Why did Jon quit the music industry? What really happened at Myrtle Beach that evoked that poem from Ryan? Will I ever know the true reason for the split or listen the the full Cabin album? What was so bad about the split that it caused Ryan to turn the drugs and alcohol? Was Ryden ever real? Why do they still write music about each other and missing the past, but refuse to talk? Why is Ryan the only original member who isn’t married or even dating someone? Why did Ryan get on that plane on his 21st birthday and fly across the country after his party and being with his girlfriend in the middle of the night with absolutely nothing but his phone just to have dinner with Brendon? Why is Ryan following Brendon but Brendon not following Ryan on social media? What in the name of the gods possessed Ryan a few years ago to send out the tweet “He’s my boy, always will be.” and then Brendon suddenly start talking about him in interviews and on stage after dodging his name like a bullet for years? Why did it take Brendon so long to come out about his sexuality? Why was it Brendon who stayed performing under the P!atD name even tho Ryan was the creator, song writer, and ultimately the one who convinced Pete Wentz to give them a chance in the first place? Why did Ryan leave the band after dedicating his life to it? What happened that caused him to throw in the towel after years, after turning down college scholarships for music and writing? Why did Ryan give up the one thing he loved and worked harder than anything else for? I will be forever haunted by the fact at I may die without ever knowing the truth, or seeing the boys reunite. I may never live to see the day Ryan and Brendon let go of this 9 year old feud and become friends again. And I am left forever searching for answers I’ll never find, no matter how many theories there are.
