GOD a lot of it is soooo grim in context/through another lens. like in 3 of those images he's on angelic antidepressants without his knowledge or consent, and 'this IS home' is 5 years from 'I hate this place,' and telekinesis is fine he just 'doesn't think' he can do it anymore and hasn't tried to find out and never will, and 'we're good' is part of a plea for dean to not literally murder him, and 'my family hunts it's what we do' is a long walk from this is what I would like to do with my life out of all the options open to me but he and mary despite their attempts to leave sure are back in the saddle again, and their family will get mary killed and sam will get out the second there's no family holding him in place. like peace is one word but so is resignation.

actually 9.04 slumber party is such a fascinating Instance of this to me because it's like. sam's subplot is entirely failing to conform to dean's feelings. that's the problem we need to resolve by the end of the episode, sam needs to say you're right dean and I feel the same way you do and it was due to my personal issues that I dragged my feet on this. scenarios like 'maybe it's fine and sam doesn't need to love the bunker to work there' or 'maybe if sam doesn't like the bunker they could spend less time there' are not. options. his head of household has selected a home so if he could stop bumming everyone out by not being sufficiently enthusiastic that would be great. if one of us has to be unhappy I don't see why it should be dean.

i'm sorry the fact that this is one of sam's worst transgressions to some people is laughable to me. dean comes in red hot with some manipulative non-starter completely detached from reality bullshit thinking he's about to blow anything else sam has to say out of the water, and sam says (in this entirely hypothetical scenario) he would not steal dean's right to die in peace on his own terms and SOME OF YOU take this to mean he's a selfish child who only cares about himself or whatever. you should be taken out back and shot.
