Wow. This girl makes it hard to give compliments. Not that that’s gonna stop Six from trying anyway.
“That might be true, but a lot of people would try to run or hide when things go south. You guys stood your ground and fought, and I think that’s really cool of you!”
she made it hard to give compliments because she didn’t want them, you dingus. ‘thanks,’ she answered bluntly. she didn’t add on anything either. she just let the silence get a little awkward. maybe then six would fucking get the hint.
Blinking quickly, she pushed her sleepy thoughts away, focusing more on what Jirou was saying. It was true, their smarter classmate was far more overwhelmed. Of all the others that could have been chosen besides Momo, she didn’t consider herself to be high on the list.
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out her matching notes, which had the formula written out carefully, maybe a little more detailed than Jirou’s version.. She couldn’t quite remember taking the notes, but upon review, some of it was coming back to her.
“These are my notes, would you like to compare? I think it might help!”
‘oh yeah!’
jirou pulled the notes closer to her for investigation. she penciled in the few steps she had forgotten in red pen and then began to rework the few problems she had struggled with. oh! everything was making much more sense now. ‘thank you, uraraka-san. do you wanna copy off mine, if you didn’t get yours done?’
“And yet here we are debating about the ethics of taking down villains.” Honestly, he didn’t mind having this discussion. After all, it was a good discussion to have, even if he thought she was kind of naive.
“You’re making a lot of assumptions here. First, the reason I knock them out is because at the moment, it’s the best way to deal with them at the moment, since quirk nullification technology isn’t exactly common or cheap at the moment. Unless the villain surrenders outright, they are liable to keep resisting. Which is a problem. As for them having information, that can be acquired once they are safely detained at a police station.”
“Now, back to the you jumping to conclusions. I never said that I could always do so; my quirk is rather one dimensional in that regard. Second, I merely advocated that criminals should be dealt with swiftly in order to prevent possible harm to innocents. Furthermore, all of your assumptions are based on the idea that villains, if given the chance to surrender, will do so and won’t take the opportunity to resist.”
“So, I’ll make a counterpoint question. Are you willing to allow a villain the opportunity to harm innocents? I would rather the villain be injured than an innocent. The second a villain chooses to commit a crime, they are taking their lives in their own hands. I’ll take that risk in order to prevent the risk to innocents. Do just enough damage to subdue the target, and move on.”
“Now that’s not to say anyone should go overboard. Excessive force isn’t the same as just enough to deal with the threat as quick as possible. I’d much rather use force where it is unneeded to deal with a potential threat, than not use enough and let someone’s life be threatened. Buildings can be rebuilt, objects can be fixed. You can’t bring the dead back. I mean, if you don’t use enough, and your villain kills someone as they’re escaping, isn’t that a worse outcome than having dealt with them first?”
this guy is a total bakugou. ‘i’d rather use force where it is unneeded’ blah blah blah blah blah whine whine whine blah blah ‘i’ve never been in a real hero situation ever’ blah blah blah blah blah ‘i have this weird unneeded hero complex that demands i know everything’ blah blah blah. and if there one thing that jirou learned from a near year of dealing with bakugou, it is that sometimes there is no winning. and if the amount of time this guy could talk without breathing was indicative, there was no winning with this dude. what even was his name. if he told jirou it she totally forgot already.
‘right’ jirou said, not actually listening. ‘ well, that sure is cool... whoever you are. i’ll be going now, to my actual class, if you know what that is. later!’
having a life is time consuming. 0/10 do not recommend.
jirou doesn’t know how she got baited into this. one moment she was admiring mina interact with the boys like it was no problem, the next she was sitting on her bed pouring her heart out to Mina , the said pinky painting her toenails with very focused precision.
they’re even in jirou’s room. mina had laughed a little but jirou still let her in. what is she THINKING.
‘... and so like, yeah, my dad was kind of famous for a little, but its all elevator music now.’
aoyama kind of attracted a lot of attention. everywhere. he was bright and loud and shiny, and he liked letting people know that. but that didn’t mean jirou didn’t try to see past the armor.
speaking of armor, despite all that everyone has changed, aoyama’s armor and general style had not changed much. he still had his armor, and his belt, and the cape... oh man the cape.
‘aoyama?’ jirou asked out of the blue. she was resting and waiting for her turn with the training dummies. ‘what do you to improve?’
Eyes half-lidded reveal of just how little sleep she’s gotten, a luxury that she couldn’t afford right now. Knowing just how far behind some of her classmates she was in studying.. She had so much to do to keep track of. Half of the time it meant not crawling into her bed until midnight or later, having to be in class early in the morning.
Fortunately, their hero studies typically weren’t until the afternoon, or at least, past lunch break. Then she was at least more awake. Staring at Jirou for a moment, she blinked slowly.. Trying to process what the other girl had said to her, she slowly nodded.
“I don’t know if I’m the best person for you to get help from, Jirou-chan. Why not ask Yaomomo? You know she loves to teach!”
jirou turned to look at momo, who sat quietly with a milk coffee and a bagel. sero, mina, and kaminari were crowded around her, all speaking over each other as they begged for help.
‘somehow i feel like she has her hands full,’ jirou mumbled. ‘don’t worry, i got my notes and everything, i just don’t know how to put each step together.’ jirou pulled out her purple calculator. ‘i mean, like, ok so you take a which is 45x^-1 here, and then you have to like, move it? but sensei said we can’t do anything with a ^-1 until we like... fix it. but i don’t know how.’
there was a distant explosion as bakugou made himself the center of attention again. birds chirped kids talked. notes were desperately taken. just another tuesday at UA.
‘HEY, TOORU!’ jirou stood a distance away, phone at the ready. ‘snapchat THIS!’
quick, tooru, do it for the snapchat!
{{ continued from here }}
‘ aw man, ‘ that was gonna be hell to clean up! orange juice just got so... s t i c k y . ‘why do i have to buy more !! food is getting restocked literally tomorrow. it’ll be waste of my pocket money. ‘ what did aoyama’s parents even do that let him be so... aoyama, all the time. he should bite the bullet and buy more!
“Right, sorry!”
Whoops, she didn’t seem to like that… well, lesson learned. Six moves right along with the conversation, not letting the blunder slow her down one bit.
“Well… even if it was necessary, you guys handled it really well! It’s actually pretty impressive!”
‘ thanks, its the fear of death. ‘ well. jirou was scared of death. can’t say the same for her classmates... @ Midori-fucking-Ya izuku. ‘ turns out when its do or die, you learn to do pretty quick.’
“I mean, if they’re breaking the law, then they need to be stopped, right? And I never said they weren’t people, but if the question comes up to prioritize innocents or the one breaking the law, innocents are the ones that I’m going to put first. And furthermore, I don’t think it’s excessive to defeat an opponent as quickly and cleanly as possible. Why give them the opportunity to take hostages or cause collateral damage if you can knock them out immediately? That’s the tactic all might used all the time too, just move by and knock them out. Are you saying that both top heroes were doing it wrong?” Really, he didn’t get this conversation. Did she want to be a hero by not being a hero? He wasn’t grasping what she was trying to get at.
“It sounds like you want to be an attorney for the villains, not so much a hero putting them away. I mean, that’s a good job and needed in case we get the wrong people, and they have rights, but you gotta deal with the threats when they appear. It’s irresponsible to let a villain act, because they could grab a hostage or hurt someone trying to escape. If you can take them out, you should, to prevent unneeded casualties and damages.”
‘ i don’t want to be an attorney for villains ! don’t put words in my mouth, dude, i dont even know you.’ yet here they were in a debate about the best ethical way to take down villains.
‘ok, so, i’ll baby-talk this since you aren’t listening . ok, lets say that we take them down quickly and cleanly! ok. but why does that involve knocking them out? don’t you know that could cause super bad head injuries? just because they did something bad they deserve to have a possible disability? and once they’re knocked out, they’re out. what about if they have more information? or are cooperative? the support department is making new ways to peacefully ans safely detain villains, even if their quirk is powerful, and there is no reason to rush to brunt force. what if you could talk them down? wouldn't that be a better idea? and who are you to say that you can immediately take them down? isn’t that like, super overestimating your power? and what if in the struggle, you end up destroying buildings and other collateral damage??? villains don’t exist in a vacuum, stupid!! there is always more stuff to consider, so if you don’t have to do it violently-- dont!!’
jirou put a lot of thought into this. ever since she had gotten her newest tech and witnessed the full destructive capabilities of her own power--- which she had belated realized was a lot-- she had struggled to brainstorm ways to detain villains with minimal fuss or violence, just to make it safer and easier for all parties involved. shinsou sure did have it lucky with that quirk...
‘you know, for one of my senpais, you sure dare really dense!! whats the point in being a hero if you’re just going to go in punching without any thought?? even mineta knows better than that!’
&& and im back. pumpin out replies n queuein up things! holler if you wanna chat
“Who’s talking about acting rashly? They’re villains, we’re heroes, when they break the law they’re taking their own well being into their own hands. I’m not interested in asking if they deserved it or not, because when you break the law and put people’s lives in danger you deserve whatever the heroes stopping you do. And even if you think quirks aren’t meant to be harmful, which is kinda crazy given that you’re using them for fighting, it’s not like villains think that way. So really, rather than sitting around wondering about the well being of the villain that’s trying to kill me and everyone else, you should just do what you need to do in order to defeat him as quickly and cleanly as possible.”
“Besides, they can’t pull anything if you’ve taken them out quickly and cleanly.”
‘just because they break the law doesn’t mean they need to get all messed up !!’ jirou cries. ‘robbing a jewelry store is a crime, but if they didn’t hurt anybody, why do we have to be rough ? excessive force is an entire unit in class ! aizawa named dropped your hero, Endeavor, as a textbook example ! jeez, dude, really?’ jirou tucks her arms around herself and angles herself away from jin. ‘ villains are people too!’
“I’m 2-A’s mechanical wonder, Android Six!”
She flashes a small pose, lending emphasis to her introduction… well, at least she already had the ‘showmanship’ part of being a hero down pat!
“Pleasure to meet’cha, Kyouka! You 1-A kids are something else, we’re already pretty much on the same curriculum!”
wow, first names so soon? ‘jirou is fine, thank you.’ she says bluntly. ‘and its not like we want to be on the same curriculum or anything... its kind of built out of necessity.’ nothing like getting attacked when you’re supposed to be safe to ramp up that childsoldier hero teaching, right !!
