We're all just stories in the end

And in these next 50 years you will eat so many delicious meals, laugh so many times with so many people you love, shout and scream and sing and cry and smile so hard your face hurts. And you will see such beautiful sunsets and feel fresh cold air on your face and feel warm and safe wrapped up in your favourite winter coat.

i just think it's neat that odysseus gets put in a position where he has to kill his child to avoid going to war and he can't do it and then agamemnon gets put in a position where he has to kill his child to go to war and he does it

“Daisy needed that kind of freedom. That takes a crapload of confidence. And Daisy didn’t actually have confidence. She was always good. Confidence is being okay being bad, not being okay being good.”

“Which is what we all want from art, isn’t it? When someone pins down something that feels like it lives inside us? Takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you? It’s like they are introducing you to a part of yourself.”

I think The Starless Sea is such an interesting book because the characters are walking through a story that’s already (nearly) done. The empty ballrooms, the abandoned hallways, all of the secondary-characters-who-were-main-characters with their finished character arcs. It’s a really lonely feeling.

“Someone was trying to keep the story from ending I think. But the story wanted an ending…The space found its own loopholes and worked its own spells, so it could have an ending.”
