Garnet hadn’t wanted to leave Amethyst, but something had come up that needed her attention. So after Amethyst had fallen asleep, Garnet left as quietly as she could. When she returned, she saw her friend was up again. Thankfully, nothing disastrous had occurred. Garnet was just fine.
“It went well, thankfully,” Garnet answered. “Sorry to leave you like that.” She really was. Thankfully, nothing else should have been coming up any time soon. She’d be able to assist Amethyst with whatever she needed.
“I didn’t want to wake you,” she explained. “And… you know. We wouldn’t want to put the little ones in danger.” They hadn’t been brought into the world yet, obviously, but it paid to be safe. Garnet knew that.
“I take it things were pretty quiet here.”
That made sense, and was in line with what she’d been thinking. Amethyst couldn’t even be that upset; she was just a little shaken still. “Yeah...I guess it must’ve been quiet...I just woke up.” Alone. Though, technically, she wasn’t really alone anymore, was she? Even by herself, there were the little ones. She couldn’t sense them yet, but Pearl had suggested that she would be able to soon.
“Guess it does make sense to be sitting things out.” Amethyst had assumed that would be the case, but it still felt weird. She had no idea how fragile the whole situation might be, though, or how she might feel as things progressed. Even if she was physically up to it now, she might not be later - and she owed it to her children to keep herself safe. ”I’m just not used to waking up with no one around.” Though she was sure that would become less of a problem soon, because Peridot had a tendency to hover when she was concerned about someone she cared for...
