Things I wish people knew about carcasses

1. Just because you found a carcass in a weird position doesn’t mean it died that way. Lots of stuff happens after death. Not every mummified animal “died in agony” and I don’t think there’s a particular pose that necessarily and exclusively appears during agony and then is maintained through decay without fail?

2. Just because there are a lot of dead animals in one place doesn’t mean “this is poaching.” Poaching is a real word with a real meaning which is “killing wildlife illegally” not “I haven’t seen this before and it makes me uncomfortable”

3. Just because you saw an animal that you don’t personally have experience eating doesn’t mean eating it is illegal/any more immoral than the animals you do eat

4. Just because someone thanked an animal for its sacrifice doesn’t mean it died instantly or they used every part of it. Those are three completely separate unrelated things

5. Just because a death looks weird, upsetting or bloody doesn’t mean it’s more painful than other ways to die. I would very much be in favor of finding better ways to kill animals but if you’re going to criticise someone for their method of killing you should really have some knowledge/experience. And keep in mind there are often few legal ways to do it so if they’re following the law, your idea might not be.

6. Euthanasia is a completely meaningless word and you can use it to describe whatever you want. Same with “humane”
