White people in Canada get away with the murder of indigenous people every single time, from Louis Riel, to Dudley George, to all of the missing and murdered indigenous women. 146 years ago today Susan B. Anthony was arrested for attempting to vote. She died before she was able to cast her ballot legally.
Don’t disrespect her memory on November 8th.
146 years ago susan b anthony wouldn’t let ida b wells and other black sufagettes march with her unless she went at the back because she valued racist southern women’s opinions over genuinely amazing suffragettes who risked their lives when they could be arrested WITH NO CAUSE. back then a black woman could be arrested for sex work by talking to a man who was not related to her, black suffragettes who looked at a man the wrong way would be arrested.

Unlike Susan B Anthony, Ida B Wells did not die before female suffrage was passed. But she did die 35 years before she could vote as a black person. She had to watch for the last ten years of her life as white women got what she had fought so hard for while she was still denied it.
It will disrespect her legacy of anti-racist and anti-misogynistic campaigning by letting a fascist, racist, woman hater to not only beat the first female candidate for President but worse still undo all the work of America’s first black President.

I'm almost done reading exhaulted and had questions about xiumin being a royal lawyer.1) why is it against the law for royal lawyers to get married and have children? 2) if reader and xiumin were to live together, is common law marriage recognized in the exhaulted universe? and if he and reader decided to adopt kids is that ok or is that also illegal too? I like your stories alot btw, I was just so curious I had to ask.
The Royal lawyer is suppose to think about all people. The laws are placed so that they are not, legally, more partial to one thing over the other. One of those traditional rules that sticks around because it gives people peace of mind that the RL is for them, not their own family. It probably could be changed, but Xiumin would feel guilty about changing it just because he want to get married when all the ones before him didn’t change it because they wanted to.
Common law marriage is not a thing. People either get married, via a ceremony or at a court, or they’re not. Common law marriage can get a little messy (My mother and her boyfriend were like that, lived together for AGES and when they broke up over something very bad it made things VERY BAD). So yeah, kind of selfish why I wanted to keep it out of this stories laws and such is due to personal experiences.
They CAN adopt! Only from certain scenarios, though. One being if the child is of blood relation to them. Say, Jongin and someone have a kid and something tragic happened and they died (Sad, I know :’( but it doesn’t actually happen) and their kid is left without a home. The people who can adopt are his family. Minseok could adopt kids that way, or if something happened to Junmyeon and Lina and their kids (THEY HAVE MORE THAN ONE Y’ALL!) are left without their mom and dad, he could take them in because, by law, either him or the Acting King has to do so.

Q: So we will be able to meet a song that is only filled with Kai’s voice, from the beginning to the end?
A: You will be able to meet it, soon. When the album comes out, I will appear with something that will surprise everybody.
Q: Are your recent activities everything you like to do?
A: Definitely not 100%. There are things I have to do, and requests I receive. I’m kind *laughs* I follow my own desires and work. Same goes for today. I personally want to shoot 12 magazine photoshoots per year. It’d be best if I could do one per month.
Q: I’ve asked you a lot of questions about dancing so I’ll ask you something different. Do you have any desires about vocals?
A: I have a lot of desires so I’ve been practicing diligently. My skills have been improving without even being conscious of them. People aren’t interested so they won’t know, but there will definitely be a time when they will be surprised. So you don’t need to be that interested right now *laughs*
Q: Who are you receiving help from?
A: Myself. My own desires. And I talk a lot with producer Kenzie. We don’t meet often, but every time we meet she tells me things that i need to hear.
Q: If you think of life as a book, what do you think will be written on this page if you open up to it later?
A: If life is a book and I am the main character, wouldn’t it be an introduction of the characters?
Q: Do you like interviews aside from just photoshoots?
A: I like them. Even if I receive the same questions, my answers change every year. My thoughts also change a little bit as time goes on. So it’s fun. Fans like interviews too. Instead of taking photos, I like having my picture taken, and I like wearing clothes, so I enjoy shoots. I think “this kind of clothing exists, this kind of visual exists…” and I learn a lot
Q: Do the nephew/niece like ‘Uncle’ a lot?
A: They like the character “Ato” that I played in a drama and not me. They keep looking at “Ato” even though I’m right next to them. They can’t pronounce “Uncle Kai (kor: 카이 삼촌 pronounced ‘kai samchon’)” so they call me “Kaichun.” Meeting my nephew/niece makes me really happy. They can’t really talk yet so they can only say “Kaichun,” “No/You can’t,” “I like it,” and “I don’t like it,” but they’ve been stuck on “No/You can’t” and “I don’t like it” lately. If I say “Kaichun, kiss” then they say “I don’t like it/want to, no” and hit me. If i say “Kaichun is leaving” then they say “No” and hug me. I’m gonna go crazy, really. I’m a holic these days. I bought a present for them a couple days ago, but I’m getting excited about giving it to them.
Q: You look the happiest now during today’s interview. Isn’t it physically challenging to play (babysit) kids? It could be more tiring than dancing.
A: We went on a trip to Hawaii with them. Because I love kids, I’ve always wanted three kids. But that time, I thought for the first time that maybe I just want one *laughs* I realized how amazing my sister is. I had to babysit them by myself for a little while, I didn’t understand the reason why they were crying and their pants were getting heavy…But when I see them, it even makes me want to take care of them by myself. And now I think I know how my parents must have loved me.
Q: What kind of position do you feel comfortable in at variety shows?
A: Talking is too burdensome. I think I won’t be able to say anything if I go on shows like that because I become too nervous. I can’t make people laugh, so I can’t say anything there.
