Remember, Binding Blades did teacher/student romance before TH, if the latter does have it.

I’m the anon that posted that, and it seems that people misinterpreted what I meant. I wasn’t trying to excuse TH if it does have teacher-student romantic interactions, but that Binding Blades should be criticized for it just as much as TH should be if it does include it as well.

I pulled out a kiwi from the fridge and found this thing on it. I don’t know where it’s from, though due to its lack of fast movement, I think the cold was killing it, making me think it came in with the kiwi. Anyone know what breed it is?

here it is, my hubris

here’s all of the pokemon I drew from memory during tonight’s stream! as you can see, my memory of pokemon is…not great. it was pretty fun going though, and an interesting look at what things I remembered about certain pokemon!

the ones that say ‘with thanks to Matt’ were ones that I didn’t feel confident making an attempt at, so we had Matt describe them to me, except he wasn’t allowed to see what I was drawing while he was describing it. which led to things like, well, Claydol. …Nosepass is entirely my fault, though.

thanks to Texel for executive producing, Matt and Keiliy for co-hosting – happy birthday to Keiliy, by the way! – and of course to everybody who came for hanging out and watching me completely misunderstand pokemon! we managed to get most of it recorded (only missing Marril, I think) so I might make a highlight reel, or at least the pokemon Matt helped with. :x

we’d love to do another one of these sometime, maybe with some updated rules and challenges, and perhaps less Country Bears Jamboree trivia. we got through a surprising amount of pokemon but there’s still a few hundred left for me to fail at, so watch this space I guess!

I love that Mew.

Silent Hill advertisement.

There was an image on an art site that was derailed to Silent Hill, and I asked what an add for the nightmare version of that town would be like. Here was the response:

(a family of four at Disney World) dad: Hey, so…you guys enjoying the vacation? all: No! son: It’s so bright and fog-less out here! daughter: The giant rats and dog-men are just people in costumes! mom: I haven’t brained something with a pipe in days! all: Everything is too darn literal! Claudia: Does it sometimes feel impossible to please those urchins you call your family? Perhaps what you need is a weekend in Silent Hill. family: Silent Hill!? Claudia: Yes. (dog ending theme plays) Home of Lakeside Amusement Park, an historical society that truly goes in-depth with our town’s lore and several hospitals, Silent Hill is the vacation spot you’ve been seeing in your restless dreams. Conveniently nestled between scenic Toluca Lake and reality, Silent Hill has something for everyone. A bowling alley. son: Neato! Claudia: Rosewater Park. mom: Ooo! Claudia: And for those who want a little something spicier, Heaven’s Night gentleman’s club. dad/daughter: I’ll enjoy that! mom/dad: wait, what? Claudia: And don’t forget the charming, welcoming locals. lying figure: (shlruping sounds of profound agony) son: Radical! mom: Is this town safe for my kids? Claudia: It is if they have clean souls. (daughter looks nervous) So, come. Witness the beginning of family fun. The rebirth of what vacations should be, despoiled by high prices and crowds. …and maybe leave the girl with a sitter. She is not yet ready to confront the darkness within herself. daughter: Aw, shoot. all: (laugh!) dad: Well, I’m sold! How do we get there? Claudia: You will know when it wants you. narrator: Silent Hill. It’s here and waiting for you.

Scammer Targeting Tumblr Artists

The title says it all really. So if nothing else, please share and reblog this post to raise awareness for those that might be caught out - both artists and followers. For a TL:DR, please look at the bottom of the post

What is happening?

Right now, there is at least one person actively impersonating multiple artists across tumblr in an effort to scam their followers into paying for fake ‘cheap commissions’. The scammer will clone a tumblr, usually using a slight change to the url/account name to look like the real deal. They will then message people directly through Tumblr with messages along the lines of “Hey, i’m doing cheap commissions right now. DM me to get one”. Naturally, this is ends up just being a way to take their money without giving anything back in return.

Who does this affect?

Everyone. Simple as that. As long as the scammer in question works unopposed, they are free to spread their influence and continue to scam more people. Even if you haven’t been targeted yet, it does not mean you are safe or immune. Several artists have already fallen victim to this scammer, and I encourage any artists that have to reblog this post with the details of their affected account(s) and the ones the scammer has set up.

How can we stop this?

Tumblr, like many other social media platforms, seems to care very little about ‘minor’ occurences like this one, and despite reaching out directly to them over a week ago through multiple avenues of contact - they have refused to comment on the situation, provide a recommended response for users, or take action on behalf of those already affected. Despite this, there are still tools at our disposal that we can use to make this scam more difficult, and to increase its visibility to those within Tumblr staff that are required by policy to take action. Tumblr has the following to say on the topic of impersonation: Confusion or Impersonation. Don’t do things that would cause confusion between you or your blog and a person or company, like registering a deliberately confusing URL. Don’t impersonate anyone. While you’re free to ridicule, parody, or marvel at the alien beauty of Benedict Cumberbatch, you can’t pretend to actually be Benedict Cumberbatch. They then provide a link to this online form that you can fill out if you suspect someone’s identity is being confused. Unfortunately, this can only be filled out if you are the victim of impersonation. In other words, only the artists can fill this out legitimately. So, what about the followers and users of tumblr whom aren’t being impersonated? Our most valuable tool in this online platform is the platform itself. It enables us to spread our word near-virally across all the many sub-communities on Tumblr with remarkable efficiency for a user-driven system. We can take advantage of that effect to increase awareness of the situation. Even if you - the one reading this right now - aren’t an artist or don’t know an artist, the act of reblogging this post or sharing it directly with friends improves it’s ‘ranking’ in popularity increasing its chances to be seen by more people. We don’t need everyone on Tumblr to see the post for it to be effective, just like we don’t need the entirety of the human population of the world to be immune to a disease for that disease to be rendered ineffective or eradicated. If enough people are aware, the likelihood of pulling off a successful scam increases dramatically reducing efficiency to a point that it no longer becomes profitable to continue.

Why should I care?

It disheartens me to say this, but of the many artists I contacted directly over the past week to warn about this issue many of them refused to listen or dodged the responsibility with lines like;

“I’m not being impersonated, so it doesn’t affect me”
“I’m just one person. I can’t make an impact”
“I need to take care of my community. Other people can look after theirs”

This is honestly disappointing that so many artists or art-rebloggers care so little as to intentionally wave the responsibility of keeping their followers and fellow artists safe from this, that they cannot spare 10 seconds of their time to share an informative post. I’m not here to bash artists, but it is time that everyone takes responsibility for their own communities, and of those around them. Artists: You have a responsibility to ensure that your followers and fans aren’t being abused by someone who may impersonate you. If they succeed, your reputation will be damaged, and your followers will resent you. Your followers are also almost guaranteed to be following other artists meaning your efforts can spread beyond your own circle of influence, so don’t be naive when you think you have little effect. Followers: You have just as much responsibility to be aware of those that might try to scam you or your fellow followers. Don’t just sit in silence when you see something wrong: Ignoring the issue only makes it more resilient to our efforts to stop it. You are the vocal majority if you just use your voices to be heard!

TL:DR

A scammer is impersonating artists and scamming money from their followers under the guise of ‘cheap commissions’. If we ignore the issue, it will get worse. Every single person that reads this can afford to spend just 10 seconds to reblog and share this post. Those 10 seconds can save others from being scammed for hundreds of dollars. Reblog & Share

Do you guys have any advice on getting feathers in Heroes?

Avatar

Use a bonus hero every time you go into the arena – a 7-win streak w/ a bonus is enough to top every tier until you get to 18, and then it finally gets competitive.

Be diligent about timed quests, which often drop a fair number of feathers. Arena every day, arena assault every day, tenth stratum every day, in addition to whatever fits the current banner quests.

Do Normal + Hard chain challenges. I know those are kinda easy to forget when Lunatic gives you orbs, but there’s literally thousands of feathers there for grabs.

And of course, any non-viable or non-favorite unit that doesn’t come with good skills is feather fodder. Matthew, Serra, that 512th Jagen you got while trying to pull Shigure, all of em go in the can.

That’s about it. Still waiting on a crystal to feather conversion, myself.

Lately I keep having the same recurring dream where I’m in my childhood home which had a large backyard that wasn’t very well-lit. In the dream I always spot this thing coming out of forest and as soon as I spot it, it spots me. Then it makes a mad dash to the back door which is always unlocked.

I wanted to draw it before I forgot.

This is something up my alley.

🚨 The internet needs you 🚨

You’re up again, Tumblr.

Back in 2015 you demanded that the FCC adopt strict net neutrality rules and establish a free and open internet. And you won

That should’ve been the end of it. But apparently not.

The new head of the FCC wants to undo the net neutrality protections you fought so hard for.

His proposed changes open the door to your web traffic being slowed down, or even blocked altogether. You could be forced to pay extra to use your favorite apps. You could even be prevented from getting news from the sources you trust.

Title II protects consumers and democracy by ensuring all voices can be heard.

You know the drill. Here’s what to do:

The FCC is taking comments from the public, and dearfcc.org is making it as simple as possible for you to make your voice heard.

Go there now 👉 dearfcc.org ✌️

You’ll just need to provide a name, an address, and then say a little bit about why rolling back Title II protections is a bad idea. If you’re not quite sure what to write, here’s something to get you started:

I’m writing to urge you to keep our Open Internet rules based on Title II in place. Without them, we could lose the internet as we know it.
The proposed changes to FCC rules would allow fast lanes for sites that pay, and force everyone else into slow lanes. We’ve already seen access to streaming services like Netflix, popular games like League of Legends, and communication platforms like FaceTime slowed down, or even blocked. Conditions like this hurt businesses large and small, and penalize the users who patronize them.
The changes also open the door to unfair taxes on internet users, and could also make it harder for blogs, nonprofits, artists, and others who can’t pay up to have their voices heard.
Please leave the existing existing net neutrality rules based on Title II in place.
Thank you!

If you need more ammo, feel free to quote these experts from our net neutrality Issue Time. TechCrunch and Battle for the Net also have some good starters.

Everyone is counting on everyone else here. Do your part and tell the FCC to keep a free and open internet under Title II.
