Touhou Fanfic - Fleeting [YukarixReimu]

Here’s my submission for @touhoushipcollab

English isn’t my main language so I hope I didn’t make many grammar mistakes and typo.

———————————————————————–

Dried leaves keep piling up on the ground, scattered around my shrine. They fell off from the branch dancing lightly for a while in the air and then dropped on the ground. Though it’s just a fleeting moment, but it marked something in my mind and heart.

It’s autumn where the air got cold because of the wind yet still warm because the sun was high up in the sky, not covered by the cloud.

I swept my shrine ground from those dried leaves, trying to make it as clean as ever. To be honest, in this kind of season I just want some nice delicacy to fill my stomach. I mean, autumn is the season for food, right? For those who say autumn is the season of reading, art or so on then they don’t know the true meaning of autumn.

Lots and lots of mountain vegetables grow up on autumn and it’s also the harvest season so of course there’d be plenty of food. Finally… I can finally eat something that can fill my stomach to the brim…

Ahh, I really love autumn…

“Good day, Reimu.”

…is what I’d like to say.

“Today sure is windy, huh. Sweeping the ground as always, you don’t seem bored doing that every day.” Her playful voice was ringing in my ear.

“What’s your business, now? Coming here like it’s just a matter of course…” And that bewitching smile.

“Oh my? Am I not welcomed here?”

“Well, it’s not like that but… Just tell me what do you want…” With her usual outfit and that big, white parasol in her hand.

“…Yukari.” She came here again in this season.

Autumn, a season when I know she will disappear shortly…

~Fleeting~

A wind passed by, fluttering her silky long blonde hair. She extended her arm to her side, opened up a gap.

“Now, now, don’t sound so cold like that. I’m not here to do anything suspicious. Beside, I’ve never acted suspicious when I’m around you, right, Reimu?”

“Yeah, that sounds so true. If you don’t have any business here then just scram. It’s not like I’ve every little time for you. I’m busy, you know? Those dried leaves just keep piling up and I can’t see any end to clean my yard–”

“Then, do you want me to bring some enjoyment in your work?” Yukari let out something from her gap.

“Yo-you… that can’t be…” I was shocked when I see what she was holding in a basket.

“Ufufufu, this is the best thing to eat in autumn, right?”

“Sweet potatoes!!! Yaayy!! Finally… finally I can eat something beside those damn dried grass…” Ahh I’m so happy I felt like I’ve to make Yukari my idol for saving me from this depraved life of mine…

“Um, Reimu, there’s no need for you to prostate to me, okay? Just kiss me in the lips would be good enough.”

“Okay, let’s bake these potatoes~!” I think I heard Yukari say something unnecessary but baking these sweet potatoes take more priority in my list.

~Girls are baking potatoes~

Pile up the dried leaves. Wrap the potato with Aya’s newspaper because you won’t need it for anything else, really. Put it on the dried leaves. Burn the dried leaves but don’t overdo it. Cover it up again with more dried leaves. Let it bake for around 20-30 minutes. And…

“It’s reaaddyyy~~!! My baked sweet potato is ready!!” Ahh I think I just cried a bit there…

I unwrapped the newspaper and the reddish pink potato skin mean that it’s already cooked. When I split it into two parts the golden yellow flesh looked sooo delicious plus the steam that let out a really nice, sweet smell. This is so irresistible I can’t stop my drool.

Just when I was about to eat it…

“Be careful, Reimu. It’s still hot, you don’t want to get your tongue get burned, right?” …Yukari said that while holding a sweet potato in her hand.

Hearing her warning, I puff out the potato to at least make it less hot and after I thought it’s not that hot anymore…

“Okay, time to dig in.” …Gulping down my saliva, I began to eat this delicacy and in an instant..

“This… This sweetness is really unbearable!!” …Felt like my mouth was in heaven.

The tender and sweet potato is dancing in my mouth and since it’s a little hot it’s really good to ward of the cold wind in autumn. This is truly a great delicacy for my autumn!!

I keep chowing down my sweet potato without any care on how much I already ate. Oh well, this was Yukari’s so I guess I can eat as much as I can, right?

~Girls are eating sweet potatoes~

“Aahh, my belly is so full.” I keep rubbing my belly that almost made me looked like I was pregnant.

“I’m glad that you like it, Reimu.”

We sat in the shrine’s veranda while drinking tea after eating sweet potato. I wonder how much did I ate? Well, who care about that~

“Yeah, thanks, Yukari. If it’s not because of you I’d have to eat another bowl of dried grass again tonight.”

“Really, Reimu, just what kind of life did you have to go through?”

“But now that I’m really full I think I will just eat an half bowl tonight.”

“No, don’t eat something like that. Ran will cook for you tonight so please don’t say something so pitiful with a straight face like that.”

“Really? Thanks!!” Guess my plan to make myself as pitiful as I can was a success.

Another cold wind passed by. We just sat in the veranda. Just the two of us. Not uttering any single word. Silence remain in the air. The atmosphere isn’t heavy at all, it’s just that…

“…? What is it, Reimu? Looking at me with a melancholic face like that?”

“Eh!? No, it’s nothing.” …her being here itself was enough for me.

Looks like without even releasing it I keep looking at her face.

But, I can’t help it. It’s autumn. Mean that soon she will gone. When winter come she won’t be coming here for a while. I know that it’s inevitable and it’s just for a few months, beside I can still meet her during autumn but knowing the fact that soon I won’t be able to meet with her is just…

“You know, Reimu…”

“Hm?”

“Seasons keep passing by and no one can stop it. It’s a natural thing to happen. Human can enjoy the passing seasons because every season has different things that it can offer to them. Flowers blooming in autumn, the nice feeling when you eat shaved ice in the summer festivsal, plentiful harvest in autumn, and how it’s so warm to stay inside your own house while watching the snow fall in winter.”

Yukari continued her talk after she drank her tea.

“They can enjoy it the fullest. Human is a creature that always seek for enjoyment in every moment possible. But, us, youkai, can’t do that. Sometime we only saw a glimpse of the cherry blossom blooming. Sometime we didn’t realize the hot, summer sun. Sometime we didn’t care about the falling dried leaves. Sometime we didn’t even realize that snow has been falling down for 2 months. It’s because we have seen it. We have experienced it. We have felt it for as long as we live. Hey, Reimu…” She looked at me with a serene expression…

“Will you give it to me? Something that’d make me think it’s worth to live for another decades? Something that can amaze me. Something that I can hold dear with this long life of mine?” …and yet her words felt so hollow it made me felt pity for her.

“I’m not your entertainment. I’m not here to make you happy or anything. I don’t have time to keep up with your nonsense.” After I said that she suddenly–

I can felt something soft touching my cheek along with a soft breath that’s brushing my cheek.

Yukari just kissed me. Something that happened for only a moment. Not even a second.

She then looked at me with that smile again, as if she was hiding something from me.

“Yeah, just like that. Being unfazed and didn’t have any special feelings toward any other being. That’s the Hakurei’s Miko that I know.” Yukari said so while I put an indifferent face after she kissed my cheek.

Well, the truth is my mind was like OH MY GOD SHE JUST KISSED ME AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BUT IT’S ONLY ON THE CHEEK, RIGHT!!?? I’M STILL SAFE, RIGHT!!?? BUT DIDN’T SHE JUST STOLE MY FIRST KISS!!?? SHE NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, RIGHT!?? YEAH, SHE HAVE TO. NOW I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO MARRY YUKARI!! YES, IT’S NOT LIKE I WANT TO MARRY HER OR ANYTHING!! IT JUST CAN’T BE HELPED. YES, THAT’S RIGHT!!!!

My mind was totally in a mess because of a kiss.

I keep up this appearance so you won’t leave me, you know? You want me to be indifferent, to keep the balance of everything in Gensokyo. Treating everyone equally for the rest of my life… did you think I could do that after all the time I spent with you, Yukari?

While I was busy with my own delusion, Yukari got up after finishing her tea.

“Then, guess it’s about time for me to go.” Yukari opened up her gap, ready to go back. “Bye, Reimu.”

I don’t know if I should be glad that I was able to hide my true feeling toward her…

“Wa-wait, Yukari!”

“? What is it?

…because it made me can’t tell how I really feel nor this one word that I want to say to her every time when autumn came.

”…No, it’s nothing. Be sure to bring me some food supply later.“

"Ufufufu, of course.”

And then, she gone. Again.

And I can’t say this word just before we parted. Again.

While clutching my hand on my chest I can only endure this pain. The pain of knowing the inevitable parting of us. The fact that I can’t accept it just made me hate myself.

Just one word. One word is enough to make this heart feel at ease. Yet, even after all this time I still can’t say it.

One word for her and one word from her.

Let’s meet again.

Touhou Ship Collab Reimu/Youmu Between the Sheets

This is a short piece for the @touhoushipcollab! Hope you like it.

Between the Sheets

Reimu/Youmu

“How did it come to this?”

The humid heat of summer blazes across the open floor. Scrunched up in a thin futon, the shrine maiden sprawls out her small body trying to stay cool from the heat of the room. The background noise of constant rotation drowns out the mid-night chirps. She turns to the side and meets her gaze with a petite ash haired girl sleeping soundly next to her.

“A maid’s job doesn’t consist of sleeping in the same bed with her master…” Reimu moans under her breath. “Aren’t you supposed to like, well I don’t know, make me food or something?”

Youmu rolls over to Reimu. “First off, when was I your maid? And second, It’s 2am in the morning. Do you still wish to eat?”

Reimu frowns and looks away trying her best to hide her discomfort. Without even the hint of a retort she closes her eyes and pretends to snore only to be interrupted with a spirit’s body temperature making the night a little too chilly.

“Brrrrr….” It’s too cold with you in here. Turn off the fan, Youmu.”

“But it’s too hot without it on!” She shutters with puppy dog eyes.

“Listen here you…” Reimu puts her foot down, kicking the bottom of their sheets. “Nitori gave me the fan, if I want it off, I want it off!”

“No!” She buries her head back in the sheets like a gofer.

“Where’s the clicker?! Give me the clicker!” Following suit, the maiden swims deep in to the blankets after her. The persistent tussle warms the room slightly.

“No, Reimu! You’ve already turned it off and on three times now!”

“Shut up, Youmu! This is my bed, this is my home and these are my things, now give me that clicker!”

Like in a game of tug-of-war, Reimu clenches onto the black cube like object plastered with the logo Nitori Industries on the back side.  The half-ghost yanks back.

“Give it up! It’s too cold in here!”

“It’s not cold enough, stop it!”

“You’re a half-ghost! I bet you can’t even tell what cold enough is!”

The constant rustle between the sheets gets rowdy as Reimu topples the smaller girl over, as a last-ditch effort, Youmu breaks free and holds the lifeline in a fetal position. Reimu takes charge and pushes her weight back on the girl.

“Myoon~!” With the unsuspecting force, Youmu squeals.

The brisk sound of plastic bursting cries out as the remote screams in agony. Two cylinder metallic objects pop out from its side as fragmented guts scatter across the futon. The seemingly endless background noise fades away and in its place the loud chirpings of the night take over.

“Youmu, look what you did!” Reimu accuses.

“It was your fault for being so stupid!”

Reimu pulls on Youmu’s night gown and forces her to the floor. “My fault?! If you had just handed it over in the first place this wouldn’t have happened!”

“WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP?!”

The pair both lift the covers up to reveal a certain witch holding her temple, apparently nursing a hangover from the night before. Marisa face flustered, hair a sloppy mess, with a “do not wake mother bear” aura hovering over her to top it all off. Not only did she arrive outside the door but the lurker demon, Suika made headroom behind her.

“This is the last time I sleep over with you two. Next time I’m flying home, drunk or not.” Swearing up and down the drunkard lumps her way back into the hallway that’s still a mess from the night before. Ultimately, she collapses in the lobby, falling fast asleep.

“Hey, anything I can help you two with?” Suika trying to be lenient, still beaming with discomfort.

“Sorry…” Reimu dejected puts her head down. “Go back to sleep…We’ll try to keep it down.”

“Alright, get some rest you two. Don’t play with each other all night.”

Suika shuts the door behind her lightly snickering. The quiet awkwardness fades in the room. Faces as red as beats as they clean up the black pieces around the bed. Youmu makes her way back into the futon and Reimu lies next to her. They both gaze up at the ceiling now listening to the screams of the night in full bloom.

“…It’s hot.” Reimu complains.

“Shut up…” Youmu retorts.

“Hey…Youmu…”

“What?”

Reimu rolls to the side and shimmies over laying her forehead against Youmu’s back.

“Nice and cold…” Reimu lips curl in comfort. “I’ll have to get Nitori to fix my fan’s clicker thingy because of you.” She whispers.

“It was your fault for pouncing on me.”

“Until then you’re going to have to keep me cool from now on.”

Reimu snugs tightly against the soft cool cotton between Youmu’s body.

With a sigh, she faces to Reimu. “You’re always so unreasonable.” Youmu grumbles as they snug closer together in the humid room, slowly drifting back to sleep.

juuuust on time (maybe a little late), my piece for the @touhoushipcollab! I was given Patchouli x Alice–I figured they’re both pretty wintery individuals, being kinda bookish and indoorsy.

I kind of mismanaged my time so it didn’t turn out quite what I wanted, but I hope it kind of works? The idea was they’re laying together in a snowfield, but they could also be floating in falling snow lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I didn’t have a good color for Alice’s skin, so I left her colorless–I thought it kinda helped the doll imagery.

also ff I hope “traditional art” is ok i’m trash

(btw, @touhoushipcollab, I believe I said I’d post under my Twitter handle heartfeltstorie, because I completely forgot about this sideblog lmfao. (I’ll probably also post it on my twitter, but just reblog it from here pls?))

after a long time procrastinating up until the last minute, i’ve finished my contribution to the @touhoushipcollab!!

with the seasons theme in mind, i thought of a headcanon i have where wakasagihime often can’t surface in winter since the lake freezes over, which leads to kagerou feeling sad and lonely for the whole season. i wanted to make this happy and sweet though, so i gave it a nice ending where waka’s able to stay above the water!

i also wanted to take this opportunity to test out more of clip studio paint’s brushes, which i think was a fun experiment! it may have turned out a little messy, but i think it gives it a bit of a storybook fairy tale kind of feel.

please go check out all the other submissions! they’re all absolutely fantastic and i’m so happy to have been part of this collab!

Here’s my piece for the @touhoushipcollab!! I got Junheca, and I was super excited because I figured too many people would want it for my to get assigned to it. I’m really happy~

I went with Summer because it’s just a season where everything feels really alive. Everything is green, and there’s a lot of animals wandering around, and it just makes me happy (though, I could live without the bugs…)

My contribution for @touhoushipcollab‘s Spring Flowers and Autumn Moon collab!

Surprising probably nobody, I’ve got Eirin and Sagume. It’s a slow, quiet sort of pair, and one of my favourites in recent times; I hope people enjoy it.

it just wouldn’t be me if I didn’t post it about five minutes before the deadline

Touhou Shipping Collab - Alice/Sakuya Spring Visit

i can’t think of a better title otl anyway!! My piece for the shipping collab for @touhoushipcollab !!!!!!!  Although Alice enjoyed the solitude of the Forest of Magic, the forest had its downfalls. For one, the trees shrouded all weather. And while this meant she could spend her time in the fresh air no matter what the weather was, it also meant that the luxurious spring weather was something she missed. At the annual celebration of spring at the Hakurei Shrine, Alice was discussing the weather in a group. While Reimu, Meiling and Komach were scorning the heat, Sakuya and Alice agreed that spending a bit of time outside in the sun wouldn’t hurt anyone. After all, being a maid must be hard. And so it was agreed! Alice was invited to spend time in the gardens of the Scarlet Devil Mansion the next weekend while Remilia was out with Reimu. She spent the next week considering what to wear, and wondering how it would go. The walk there was far hotter than anything Alice had ever walked through. But, she arrived without too much of a sweat. She greeted Meiling with a smile and a wave and found herself lost in the midst of the huge mansion. Pondering whether to knock on the door, or just walk in, a figure waved from the shade behind the wall. “Alice!” a voice called, “I’m glad to see you made it.” “Ah, yes! It was rather hot on the way.” Alice stated. “It’s lovely to see you, Sakuya.” “It’s lovely to see you too~” the maid responded cheerfully. “I love your dress. I assume you made it yourself?” she asked. “Oh, yes, yes. I did. I didn’t have anything light enough for being outside the forest in such heat,” she began to explain, “So I made myself something.” “It looks lovely on you.” Sakuya complimented. “Thank you.” Alice said, “You look lovely too.” Alice replied. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in anything other than your uniform..” she realized. “I suppose not.” Sakuya said. “It’s far easier not having to choose what you wear every day.” she added, with a smile. “Shall we?” she asked. Alice nodded in agreement.  The two walked round the side of the mansion, led by Sakuya, to a small set of white table and chairs. A white parasol was centered in the table to provide light shade from the heat. “I often seat the mistress under the parasol, so it’s here out of habit.” Sakuya explained. “But, with the heat, I feel it might be beneficial to have anyway.” she added, Alice nodded to agree. The two sat down next to each other, under the shade of the parasol. “Would you like a cup of tea?” Sakuya asked. “Oh, yes, sure.” Alice agreed. Sakuya poured tea into a small tea cup. “I always enjoy your tea, Sakuya. It’s one of the highlights of reading from Patchouli’s library.” she added. Sakuya blushed slightly, and looked away while pushing the saucer with the tea cup towards Alice. “Sugar..?” Sakuya asked quietly. “Sure.” Alice agreed. Sakuya placed the sugar bowl besides the saucer, and placed a tea spoon in the bowl. As Alice added a couple of teaspoons to her tea and stirred, she decided to inquire about the sudden quietness Sakuya was displaying. “Sakuya, have I said something?” she asked. “No, it’s just. Nice to get a compliment from you, is all.” Sakuya answered, trying to be as fast as she could. She was met with a inquisitive look from Alice. “It’s just.. I quite like you, Alice.” Sakuya admitted. “You’re graceful, initially clod, sure, but you’re nice to talk to on the inside, and you’re rather stunning to look at too. You’re far more reserved than someone like the magician, yet far less secretive than that Hakutaku from the village.” she added, trying to keep a level disposition. “Ah, I see.” Alice responded. There was silence for a bit, and Sakuya looked as though she was worried she had ever said a word to Alice. “I quite like you too. You’re elegant, graceful, and you can be fun without causing a storm like Marisa. I’ve always enjoyed talking to you when you attend parties at the shrine. I never really had the guts to ask you to come over to my house for tea before, mind you. So, I just left it.” Alice admitted. Sakuya blushed, and sat back down. Alice sipped from her tea, and smiled at Sakuya. “Well, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. Perhaps you could spend more time in the gardens?” Sakuya asked. “In this lovely spring weather? It’d be my pleasure.” Alice agreed.
