Vetted family fundraiser masterpost 1

Version date: May 7th 2024.

This is a masterpost for the evacuation fundraisers I've vetted so far. The numbers next to the names have no significance beyond ease of navigation for me for when I check their progress in the future. You should look at the disclaimers instead and focus on those. Occasionally I will update these with new info, including new fundraisers, and the amount of cash that's been raised. Check in regularly on the original post when you see it being reblogged. In all likelihood once its reached you it's already outdated. This post is part of this masterpost series compiling fundraisers for Ghazzah and Sudan. I focus on Ghazzah as I am Palestinian and am more equipped to do verifications as I'm more familiar with my own country and its politics and dialect, but if I know a fundraiser for a Sudanese family is legit I will include it here.

A computer science student named Priyanjali Gupta, studying in her third year at Vellore Institute of Technology, has developed an AI-based model that can translate sign language into English.

This is what we need AI for. Not generating pictures using millions of stolen pieces of art, or generating shitty false articles using the stolen work of hundreds of thousands of writers. AI can be good, and it can be used for good things. This is an incredible feat and I hope Priyanjali gets the recognition and support she deserves for this amazing project.

(i Will go back to everlasting haitus if that GFM slows down too much btw, seeing it to its goal ASAP is my primary focus right now)

every once in a while you just gotta go "This Reality Is Not Acceptable" and put yourself all in on one cause and not let up on it until it is done, to make sure at least one fact of that unacceptable reality, changes. at least one more tragedy avoided.

that is what i have chosen to do here.

i'll admit i'm not especially good at drawing more realistic portraits/people, but i took a crack at it for this. in the back of mind, is the thought: i want to be able to draw a proper family portrait for them a year from now, if they'd like one, and have nobody suddenly be missing from it.

donate, boost, share the GFM yourself on any platforms you may have/on websites i'm not on, in your community servers, anywhere sympathy and action can be found. please.

As of this update, April 11th, the GFM is at 42k out of 60k, but traffic has starting slowing down the past 48 hours, so I’m nudging more again with that status! Please let’s get this the rest of the way to the goal ASAP!

they don’t just need out, the whole family, including the kids, need prompt medical care! I urge anyone reading these words to help however they can, please, peace, and thank you 🕊️ 🍉

As of this update, April 14th, the GFM is at 46k out of 60k 🕊️ 🍉

As of this update, April 17th, the GFM is at 51k out of 60k, almost there, home stretch! let's get it, please! 🕊️ 🍉

As of this update, April 19th, the GFM is at 52.7 out of 60k 🕊️ 🍉

As of this update, April 22nd, the GFM is at 54.2 out of 60k 🕊️ 🍉 Is there a chance we can get it to the goal by the end of this week (or sooner, if something wild but wonderful happens)? I do hope so

enough about taylor swift already. reblog and tag the smallest, least known artist you listen to

Vicky and the Vengents. come to think of it, Vicky Tafoya's projects are pretty obscure in general but i only really listen to the Vengents actively atm.

im sooo sorry sonic im soo sorry people are accusing you of being an extroverted i know you better than that

ill be honest when i saw that poll i didnt even know which one to pick. and this is coming from an introvert who is still very outgoing. so i just kinda randomly picked while closing my eyes. i still dont know which one i picked, or if i even clicked either one of them.

If people were too mean to you when you were growing up, a newborn animal will materialize inside your brain and it’s so so scared and shivering and it will stay there for years. Decades, even. And whenever you say something kind of weird but true to your heart the animal will tell you “Noo! You can’t say that! If you say that, everyone will hate you!”. The animal means well. It’s so so small and everything is so scary for them and it’s just trying to protect you. But listen to me. Listen to me. Whenever this happens, you can’t do what the animal says. You can’t. If you do, you’ll become as scared as the animal. You have to keep saying weird shit. You have to keep doing things the animal wouldn’t approve of. If you do enough things that scare the animal, maybe one day it’ll go to sleep.

@no-need-to-apply I do agree that white people using the fact they have anxiety or poor social skills to try and shirk consequences for being racist or talking over POC is definitely a real issue and something that should be talked about more, but don’t you think it’s a bit off-putting to walk up to a complete stranger talking about their severe social anxiety in a lighthearted way and tell them “I’m sure you can turn your mental illness off when it comes to being racist”?

yep, it is! and i apologize for behaving that way.
