[11:43 pm] yuta sighs at the empty space beside him. his heart yearns to hold you close and kiss you. he pouts at your side of the bed, hoping that you’ll be home soon. but he knows that practice always goes until ungodly hours, especially when your comeback with your group is approaching. 

it was ironic. whenever nct 127 promoted, your group was on break and slowly preparing to comeback in the future. and then, your group would come back and 127 would be on break.

today was special, too. it was yuta’s birthday. and you would be gone practicing and preparing. and even if you did have a day off tomorrow, yuta had a schedule to attend. 

yuta reaches for his phone and sighs when he sees you haven’t called or texted. he lays back down and faces your side of the bed, throwing an arm over your side of the bed and imagining your warm body pulled up against his. a smile tugs at his lips as he closes his eyes, picturing the number of birthday kisses and cuddles you would have given him and the kisses and cuddles he’d give back. in a heartbeat, yuta fell into a deep slumber, light snoring already leaving his lips.

[11:51 pm] you quietly yet quickly open and close the door to your apartment, kicking your shoes off and hurrying to your bedroom. you peek in and grin happily at the sight of your boyfriend yuta sleeping soundly. a glance at your phone tells you there’s about 9 minutes until his birthday is technically over, and you slip into the room, grabbing one of his hoodies and throwing it on before slipping under the covers with yuta. you take his arm, put it over you, and wrap your arms around him while burying your face in his chest. 

“happy birthday babe. i love you,” you whisper, tracing a heart near his shoulder before stretching your neck a bit to press a kiss to his jaw.

a grumble escapes from his lips as he pulls you closer, sighing in content afterwards.

“you’re here,” yuta breathlessly whispers, half-awake and pressing a kiss to your temple

“of course i am. i couldn’t miss my boyfriend’s birthday,” you giggle, looking up at him.

even in the darkness, you can see his bright smile as he runs his fingers through your hair. he leans in, kissing you and lingering. with a hum that resonates through his chest, yuta pecks your lips once more and pulling you close again. he outlines random shapes on your lower back while thanking you for being with him. you’re smiling as yuta’s voice quiets down and his eyes droop. 

“goodnight love,” you tell yuta, the shapes on your lower back fading as he falls asleep with you snuggled up in his arms.

this was the only gift yuta wished for. being with you, no matter the circumstances.

[7:23 pm] your hand was engulfed by kevin’s as he pulled you into ikea, the few people still shopping glancing at the two of you.

“kevin it’s almost closing time what are we doing here~?“ you whine as he leads you to the display of a living room full of hanging vines and plants.

“we’re having fun, what else would we be doing?” he says, grinning and pulling you beside him on the futon. “don’t worry i’ll buy you food once we’re done.”

soon enough, kevin is showing you all of the displays there are in a breeze. squeaky clean bathrooms, nice kitchens with the islands, the display bedrooms for kids and adults.

you’re admiring a display of a little kid’s room with a bed full of stuffed animals and the room full of neutral colors.

“we could use a room like this some day,” kevin remarks while wrapping an arm around you and pulling you close.

“wh-what do you mean-?” you stutter, knowing exactly what he meant.

“i mean when we decide we want to have children.”

he chuckles at the pink tinting your cheeks as he lets his fingers intertwine with yours.

“now c’mon, i think i saw the stuffed animals over here.”

after the little moment you two just had, you and kevin played with the stuffed animals, imitating their noises and chasing each other around with them. you almost flew right into a worker when kevin was chasing you across the whole entire store, earning you a glare.

once you get to check out, you’re clinging onto kevin’s arm, exhausted from running around. kevin, unphased, walks through check out and goes straight towards the food. you look at the clock nearby and find yourself giggling.

8:21 pm. 21 minutes past closing time. a man walked away with a coke, and the worker behind the counter smiles politely as kevin orders you and him some fries on the go.

once you get your fries, you thank your boyfriend and tell him how much fun you had.

“i told you so,” kevin says, making you laugh for some unknown reason.

he starts laughing as well, and you two burst into uncontrollable giggles. just before you two exit the store, the worker who flared at you before was there by the door, glaring at you and kevin. you stop, suck in a breath, look at your boyfriend, and burst into uncontrollable laughter.

tonight was a good night.
