At first, Nagito was a little surprised by the offer. And then, a little hesitant. Was it okay to spend his birthday with a reserve course nobody? It wasn’t like he had much of a reputation to worry about, but still.
Then again, this wasn’t just any nobody, this was Hajime. And even though Nagito wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about this very persistent boy, he still couldn’t find a single part of himself that outright hated the idea. So, after pretending to consider it for longer than he actually did, he gave a nod.
“Alright. I don’t eat out that often, so why don’t you take me somewhere you know is good?”
“That’s a lot easier said than done, you know.” Hajime laughed even as he complained, well aware how ridiculous it sounded for him to complain about having been given a choice. “Do you prefer Japanese or European food? We could always go get ramen, if you’re alright with it? Plus, it’s cheap enough we could really splurge and get lots of side dishes. Did you want to get a cake to celebrate?“
Hajime was all smiles as he spoke, thinking over his decision. “We could go somewhere more expensive if you’d like. We should celebrate somehow, though, so whether it’s with cake or just a nice lunch I’ll leave it up to you.”
